1) I feel I possess all the necessary qualities required to join the placement committee because of the following reasons given below
Soft skills: My inbuilt soft skills like communication, friendliness and optimism would be useful to interact with top players from reputed companies, so that they could feel at home while visiting our campus for recruitment.
Extrovert: I have the ability to socialise with people easily, thereby I do not feel any difficulty to negotiate while meeting with new recruiters.
Exposure: I have done my PG from UK, where I was working in sales and marketing department for Lebara Mobiles, where I had to meet people from different origins belonging to different countries. Roughly I would meet 300 people in a day, to whom I had to do the same pitching again and again. I was also working as Store Manager in Supermarket, which would add to my exposure.
Interview skills: I have come across many interviews so far both professionally and part time jobs. I do not get tense or bogged down if I am not able to find an answer to any question.
I also possess few characteristics like discipline, punctuality, dedication, good sense of humour, academically strong which could be an added advantage.
2) Action plan for the committee
a) Review Meetings: I would suggest we conduct review meetings regularly to discuss about the pros and cons of our committee or committee members to make ourselves sure whether we are heading in the right path or not.
b) Interaction session: We should also make a point to interact with the students once in a month, a session where we get to know the issues involving the placement committee by conducting a survey of all the committee members names involved in. We can also find whether the students who are not in the placement committee have any contacts in top companies related to energy, whom we can approach for a guest lecture or so.
c) Q & A: If we know a guest lecture from a particular firm is coming to take a session tomorrow, we should form few questions from our side, so that the right questions are asked which would impress the person taking the session to come repeatedly and convert it into a placement opportunity.
d) GLIM Expansion: We should popularize the GLIM tag name, which is already making inroads into many sectors in the energy field, because I feel “word of mouth” is the best way to convince the other person who is related to energy sector. (eg) a guest lecture coming to meet our campus, should make his experience in GLIM memorable so that he passes on this information to other persons who he might meet in the forthcoming meetings or so.
e) Increase recruiters: Rope in many energy giants which are yet to visit our campus like Reliance, Tata. It is prestige to host these companies for guest lectures or for placements. Our aim should be to bring in atleast 50 and 70 companies for placements and summer internships for this year. We should try to implement a placement month, where all the recruiters could select from a pool of people rather than having recruiters visit our campus casually.
3) Letter to Senior HR for student interaction session

The institute aim is to equip the students with both functional and domain knowledge where they feel there is a urge for specialised managers unlike before.
