Plagiarism is something that isn’t respected, condoned or even expected when doing some sort of paper whether you are in high school or college. Not only does it steal someone else’s work, it robes you from learning.
Plagiarism in human services teaches us how to construct writing and teaches us proper citation. It is essential knowing APA format, and plagiarism. I believe that by adapting this skill you make your school or work easier. I know since I have learned this format I have been using it everyday even at work. Recognizing Plagiarism in Written Articles

...Recognizing Plagiarism in Written Articles D. T. Walden University Foundation of Human Services HUMN-8000-6 Dr. Mary Larscheid December 30, 2011 Recognizing Plagiarism in Written Article It seems that the student has copied portions of the source into his or her work. The student paraphrased the work by using portions of sentences word for word. There are no quotation marks to indicate the words are a direct quote from the original author. The student also failed to cite the source of the information. For example: “But it is hard to know if a conflict of interest between doctors, researchers, and the drug company stockholders have tainted the results. Biomedical researchers incorporate strict rules of science into their work, which is examined by peers.” One way of summarizing this could be: There really is no way to determine whether the study has been compromised because professional biases are difficult to establish. Because of this consumers rely upon the physicians’ professional insight and protection from any compromised research (Crosson, 1994). There are various ways to recognize plagiarism. Avoiding Plagarism

...process. 5. A conclusion that reflects your perspective after completing the assignment. Avoiding Unintentional Plagiarism After reading the article by R.L. Foster avoiding unintentional plagiarism, I will be discussing the issues of paraphrasing and plagiarism. It is important to avoid plagiarism because it is important to give credit to the original authors, people who show academic honesty are trusted by their peers and professors, and people who make the effort to avoid plagiarism gain writing skills. R.L. Foster says the “following are the three common pitfalls.” 1. Inadequately Citing Original Work Because It Would Require Multiple Citations. This is when several sentences are needed to describe another’s ideas; it seem redundant to place a citation after each sentence, so there are times that a writer will sometimes reference selected ideas and not others 2. Paraphrasing to Avoid Quotation Marks. Foster says “paraphrasing means rephrasing original work such that the ideas are intact but the phrasing is completely different.” Foster also says “to avoid plagiarism, you must give credit whenever you use: * another person’s idea, opinion, or theory; * any facts, statistics, graphs, drawing-any pieces of information that are not common knowledge; * quotations of another person’s actual spoken or written words (Writing Tutorial Services, 2004 para.2).” Purdue Online Writing Lab tells us “that there are brief lists of...
