Planet proposal.
. In 2015, A scientist group called (GCC or CCG) (we can decide :) finds a planet in a different galaxy.
The Planet is 80 made of water and larger than the earth. The remaining percentage is a continent made of large trees. In the center of the continent is a extremely large tree stump. It is large enough to hold the entire state of texas on it. unfortunately because of all of the tree coverage we cannot tell if there is intelligent life on the planet. But we have determined that the atmosphere is made of oxygen because of the types of plant-life on it.
Because of this discovery humans prepare for a trip there to establish a settlement and further the human race.
. 2017 world divided into two sides. the larger part would provide support from earth, with the smaller to set up establishment on the planet. the team that is leaving for the planet consists of farmers, carpenters, soldiers, doctors, cooks, teachers. etc......
2020 humans have found a way to travel across galaxies with a reactor powered buy energy from the stars. because of this invention humans speed up the process to create a space-station to travel to the planet. March 1 2030 humans launch space station.. the space station is made up of 5 different parts. housing, storage, greenhouse, cafeteria, leaders headquarters. the space-station size large enough to hold over a billion people. (They launch it in Australia due to its location and that because of the size of the space station it has to be launched in a place cut off from the rest of the world other wise it would burn the area to ash)

Neptune: The Tenth Planet The Solar System

...On september 23rd, 1846 two astronomers John Couch from Britain, And Urbain Le Verrier from France joined together and used calculations to find the exact location of of Neptune. They both claimed they found it and it lead to an national dispute. Neptune is the eighth planet the solar system. Uranus is in front and Pluto is behind it. The planet takes 15 hours, 57 minutes and 59 seconds to fully rotate. That is a little faster than Earth's rotation. Now before you see how many miles large it is I will tell you that it is three point nine times larger than earth. It is 5,299 miles. And its mass is 17 times larger than Earth's mass, Its gravity is 11.15 m/s. So if you weigh 100 pounds on earth you would weigh 110 pounds on Neptune. Its takes...

Course Project Proposal for Terraforming

...David Corvin 9/9/2012 Managerial Appls of Info Tech Prof. Tahereh Daneshi Course Project Proposal Terraforming Domes and the use of Planet Cracker Mining Vessels We live in a world where one of the main threats to our society is diminishing resources and the inevitability of over population. Humans and animals alike multiply at an alarming rate and with the arrivals of new people to this planet there is a need for aggressive expansion for houses, apartments and retail stores. With new expansion comes the need for new oil and gas refineries and nuclear power plant to support the land that will soon be developed. Human civilization has been consuming natural resources at an exponential rate and the threat that we will soon run out is on the back of our minds. With new developments will come new technology and the need to improve on what we currently have. Our planet can only offer us so much and there is still much to be discovered in outer space. There are hundreds of planets that have the ability to sustain life providing certain conditions are met. NASA or National Aeronautics and Space Administration have been in charge of the space program for many years. While they have released this power to the private sector and given those with the resources a chance to go where they have not offers a potential solution. Terraforming (literally, “Earth-shaping”) of a planet, moon, or other body is the process of deliberately modifying its atmosphere, temperature, surface topography or ecology to...

The English Five

...Imagine this scenario set in the future. We know that a decently large rogue planet will be crashing into Earth in a certain number of years and we cannot do anything to stop this from happening. However, we do have the ability to terraform a planet. If we could also move humanity to either Mars or Venus, which one should we go for and why? Hi Jessica! Interesting question. To start off, I will define what terraforming is for those who do not know what it means. Terraforming refers to the hypothetical process of modifying a planet or other heavenly body in order to make it habitable by humans. This outcome can be achieved by changing the atmosphere’s competition, the body’s temperature, the surface topography or the planet’s ecology. In order for terraforming to be successful and the planet to be able to sustain life, NASA has defined that such a body must have extended regions of liquid water, favourable living conditions and enough energy sources to sustain metabolism (). Mars is generally understood to be the planet that is closest to fulfilling these criteria because in many respects it is the most Earth-like planet in the Solar System(). It is generally accepted by scientists that Mars once had an Earth-like characteristic including a thicker atmosphere and abundant sources of water. These characteristics have diminished over the course of hundreds of millions of years due to carbon dioxide/carbonates reactions, a lack of magnetosphere and numerous asteroid impacts. The...

Problem Solving - Report 2 - Living on Other Planets.

...Report 2 Living on Other Planets Introduction: * How would facilities function * How would they get supplies * How would people get to the locations The focus of colonization is a topic that has brought up several debates on how it could be possible. But, the first step towards that effort is to find a reason to migrate ourselves to other planets. Different minerals and precious metals from the surfaces of alien celestials are vital to the importance of any specific colonization effort. The industrial implications of a solid core of functional work environment for employees and civilian presences populating the platforms are essential. Facilities will consist of domed structures contained a self-sustained atmosphere and environment. Simulated weather for each of the seasons as well as integrated day and night cycles would keep the habitants on a routine familiar to them of our own home planet. This would include housing opportunities for employees to bring their families while honoring their agreed upon contract terms. Each Dome is specifically engineered and conditioned for their celestial home. There in, being resistant to the unique external environmental issues that would come from any given body’s location. Initial supplies for the project will be flown in prior to the colonization by unmanned crafted and landed carefully on the alien surface. Pioneer crews will depart with the final shipment and begin assembly of the primary dome structure. Once the...

Extraterrestrial Lif

...life exists outside of planet Earth. In the United States alone, at least half of all Americans say that we’re not alone in the universe. Fifty percent of Americans already believe that there is some form of life on other planets, while only seventeen percent believe there is not. A quarter of Americans believe that intelligent extraterrestrial visitors have already come to Earth and have been doing so for a long time. (source) Here’s one of them: “Yes there have been crashed craft, and bodies recovered. We are not alone in the universe, they have been coming here for a long time.” (source) (source) – Dr. Edgar Mitchell, Apollo 14 Astronaut, Air Force Captain, and Founder of the Institute of Noetic Sciences There are multiple reasons why the extraterrestrial question continues to gain popularity. People are starting to ask questions about the world around them, utilizing critical thinking and investigative skills. After thoroughly looking into this topic, it seems inevitable that you will arrive at these conclusions: We are not alone, and we are being visited. The first one that comes to mind is Paul Hellyer, Former Canadian Defence Minister, the man responsible for combining the Canadian Air Force, Army, and Navy into one united force, now known as the Canadian Forces. Someone with such a background coming out and making these extraordinary claims is definitely going to have the attention of many people. “Decades ago, visitors from other planets warned us about where we...

Venus Project Research Paper

...My group and I chose to do the planet Venus and the missions that were done to get information about the planet. The mission that I chose to do was Pioneer Venus. It was part of the Pioneer program, which consisted of two spacecraft’s, the Pioneer Venus Orbiter and the Pioneer Venus Multi-probe. The program was managed by NASA’s Ames Research Center. Before explaining the mission and what I learned about it, lets focus on Venus for a bit and learn about the background of the planet. Next to the sun and moon Venus is the third brightest in the sky. By the size and mass it can be said to be the sister planet to Earth because they are so similar to each other. Also it is the closest planet to Earth. Clouds formed from sulfuric acid...

Drake Equation

...Ivan Petricevic Project: SETI Prof. Antonio Paris Does Life Exist Outside of our Universe? Are we alone? This question has been around ever since the beginning of human civilization and the idea of life outside of our planet ponders my mind often. The SETI, the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence is one of the most high-tech radio telescopes that search for evidence of life outside our planet. The way SETI works is it tries to listen for any signal in our universe from another civilization outside our planet. Frank Drake who is the founder of SETI is well thought-out to be the pioneer of the scientific search for alien life. In 1961, Frank had developed an equation that estimates the number of alien civilizations which may be reached; known as the “Drake Equation”. During the beginning stages of SETI, one main problem...

Different Models of Crowdsourcing

...“Crowdsourcing” is a relatively recent concept that encompasses many practices. To a superficial analysis, it could result just as the outsourcing of tasks to a large group of people, instead of assigning such tasks to an in-house employee or contractor. But in my opinion, there is more to it. We have to consider it as a strategic model to attract an interested and motivated crowd of individuals, capable of providing solutions superior in quality and quantity to those that even traditional forms of business can. It’s community, involvement, empathy and transparency, are all made possible and facilitated by web 2.0. The new behaviors and new mental structures that emerged with the rise of social networks allow a constant interaction between "equals" (with no defined hierarchies) at a global level. The paper explores different kinds of crowdsourcing, describing differences and similarities between them. The first kind of crowdsourcing analyzed, is the “Contest”, in witch the sponsor (the company) identifies a specific problem or request, offers a cash prize and broadcasts an invitation to submit solutions. Google offers us a best case in this field: in March 2014 the company has hold a contest called "Pwnium”, in which hackers could put their skills to the test by trying to hack into either the HP Chromebook 11 or the Acer C720 Chromebook for a combined total price of nearly $3 million. At the end of it, Google profit from this action by discovering several bugs then being...

The World in 100 Years

...GS152 The world in 100 years I can’t truly state whether the world will be worse, or if it will be better 100 years from today. What I do know though, is that everything will be different; all the way from the creation and development of things to the construction of our everyday lives. As of right now the world in my eyes is hard to picture in 30, 20, or even 10 years from now, let alone a whole 100 years from today. Advancements in every aspect of the world happens in what seems like less than 2 years, meaning that in 2115 the world may be entirely remodeled; if it’s here at all. Looking back on the recent years there is one huge key factor that has easily changed the world and will continue to do so for centuries. What I am talking about is technology; with the extremely rapid growth and expansion of technology I see the world doing two things. One is becoming ran by electronics. Not in the way that some see technology taking over today, but in a literal sense. For example, the movie iRobot, everything is ran by technology and there are a mix of robots and humans. Secondly, and the largest belief of mine, I see the advancements in technology curing many of today’s problems. What I’m meaning by that is everything will be so advanced that it’ll make living easier. The United States Government will be straightened out and organized by the advancements, meaning war will be stopped and peace will be throughout us all. This will lead to all of the world working together and...

Mercury

...SCI 321 Research Project July 28, 2012 Mercury - History and Naming Mercury, the planet closest to the Sun, circles the Sun faster than all the other planets in our solar system, which is why the Romans named it after the swift-footed messenger god Mercury (Space exploration, 2013). Human observers have been looking up at Mercury since at least the time of the Sumerians – the 3rd millennium BC (The planet mercury, 2013). These Greek astronomers believed even then that Mercury (and Venus) both orbited the Sun, and not the Earth. Mercury was the god of commerce, travel, and thievery in Roman mythology, hence the naming of Mercury. Slide 2 Early beliefs of Mercury Mercury was known since at least Sumerian times roughly 5,000 years ago, where it was often associated with Nabu, the god of writing (Mercury, the sun's, 2013). Mercury was also given separate names for its appearance as both a morning star and as an evening star (Mercury, the sun's, 2013). Early beliefs thought that perhaps there were two different planets. However, Greek astronomers knew that both names referred to the same planet (Mercury). Back in the nineteenth century, astronomers made very careful observations of Mercury's orbit, but they could not explain the orbit adequately using Newtonian mechanics (The planet mercury, 2013). There were discrepancies between what they observed and what was mathematics predicted. This problem would last for decades. Einstein's General Theory of...
