2.0 Introduction for Planning
Planning is the rational and orderly thinking of ways and means for the realization of certain goals. It anticipates and precedes action which involves making decisions pertaining to a future course of action. A lack of planning before engaging in any activity implies recklessness, lack of judgement or short-sightedness in the performance of any work (Kamaluddin et al., 2011). Planning can also be defined as the process of choosing a goal and developing a method or strategy to achieve that goal (Kamaluddin et al., 2011). Every organization need planning before they making any decision. Thus, OldTown White Coffee also need planning as well.
2.1 How the Manager Schedule in the Workplace
According to Hafiz (2015), the manager will hire around six to seven workers. There are several roles as a manager such as helping impact recruitment, productivity, retention and job satisfaction Duke, (n.d.). In the Malaysia Employment Act 1955 which had listed that an employee shall not be required under his contract of service to work more than five consecutive hours without a period of leisure of not less than thirty minutes duration (Mylabourlaw, 2015). The workers will have 1 hour as their break time.
Manager will have his own timetable on his break time or shift time when he want to have a off day. The manager will take his responsible in arranging his employee timetable in every month. Due to the OldTown White Coffee is not operate 24 hour a day, thus is just only can have 2 shift arrange by the manager which is morning shift and noon shift. According to Hafiz (2015), he will arrange more workers when is in the noon shift. Manager will based on employees suggest whish shift they want to. Thus, the manager will also act in concert with their suggestion as to build a positive workplace. Performance measurement and target-setting are important to the growth process. While many small businesses can run themselves quite comfortably without much formal measurement or target-setting, for growing businesses the control these processes offer can be indispensable (Measure performance and set targets, 2009). The manager will do not expect arrange much workers for morning shift as less customer while in the morning. According to Hazif (2015), noon shift will earn more sales target than morning shift due to customer will be lesser than noon shift. Nevertheless, the customer will getting increase in noon shift. Especially in weekends, will have more customers than weekdays. Thus, manager are expect to hit the sales target by noon shift. The manager will reorganize the schedule of every employee on the task that they needed to complete daily. For instance, service line will in charge by the local worker. For this situation, they are needed to give the best services to the customers in order for them to have a next visit to Oldtown White Coffee in future. While for kitchen department, foreign workers will be responsible for it in terms of food and beverage. One of the reason is the foreign workers may not know how to communicate with the local customers. Position descriptions help employees get a sense of their responsibilities, what's expected of them, and the standards by which the manager will be evaluated (Position Descriptions Guideline Human Resources, 2012).
2.2 OldTown White Coffee 's Daily Tasks
Hafiz (2015) claimed that a daily overall operation for the restaurant is responsible by OldTown White Coffee manager. The operation hour is starting from 8a.m. Although the operation hour is starting from 8a.m. but the employees must get ready by 7a.m. in the workplace as they need to prepare the daily task such as clean the floor, wash the toilet as well as arrange tables and chairs. According to Hafiz (2015), they will check their stock three times per week which is on every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. In that case, manager will ensure that the stocks are enough to serve the customer. Therefore, it will retain the image of Old Town, and it will always make customer satisfied.
2.3 There are Three main section will be differentiated by OldTown White Coffee
There are three main sections which are bar, restaurant and service line that differentiated by OldTown White Coffee. Why OldTown White Coffee want to classify into three section? With the division of labour into three sections, it can be run more smoothly due to every worker is assigned the task for which he is best suited (Singh, 2015). Moreover, this could helps to provide an opportunities for the best utilisation of natural talents as a person performs the job which he get pleasure for it. With this pleasure, they will work with effectiveness and efficiently as well as with a better quality of work.
2.4 Manager will conduct the meeting weekly
OldTown White Coffee will conduct the meeting weekly which is on every Monday before starting the shift. As stated by Hafiz (2015), the purpose of weekly meeting is to ensure that the staffs are clearly defined what OldTown White Coffee happened recently, such as how many stocks are left in the storeroom, update the stock value, sales target to achieve as well as the need for team members to know what's going on with each other. Moreover, by conducted the meeting weekly it can improve the work performance as well. The meeting can be flexible and also scheduled only one week in advance. In order to motivate the staffs work automatically and hardworking, manager has acting an important role to guide them as a leader. As a leader, pressure team members to stretch, and learn from their mistakes and not to sugar coat failures (Schechter, 2011). Not only leader need responsibility, staffs are also needed to have their responsibility as well such as after staffs listen what manager is reporting, staffs can give a compliments on the good info and voice up the opinion too (Schechter, 2011).

2.5 When the Manager will submit the report to the headquarter
Business report is an essential part of actively managing any organization or business. Management uses reports to track progress toward any goals, control expenditure and increase the revenue as well. Besides that, a business report help to predict trends, and this is an advantage for increasing in profits. Administrators who review the reports on a daily or frequent basis can make adjustments for abnormalities rapidly (Perez, n.d.). Manager will submit the report of OldTown White Coffee once a week to headquarter. Manager will record everything in detail such as the most vital information are sales and revenue, and business planning too. Thus, if any problem happened, the headquarter will request the particular OldTown White Coffee 's manager and adjust if needed. For instance, the headquarter will enquire the manager to identify the problem when sales are dropping. After the manager had analysis the problem, then it is the time to find out the possible solution and analyzing the solution to select the best solution to solve the problem.
2.6 What will be considered by the 's manager when in hiring
Basically, employers will look at the basic factors when considering the qualification of job applicants such as education, skills and experience (Ashe-Edmunds, n.d.). In Figure 1(Mfuc, n.d.), the Malaysia's education system consists of SPM, STPM, A-level, Diploma, Degree, Master, and Doctorate as well. In that case, Hafiz (2015) states that it is acceptable without any certificate and experience as an employee to work in OldTown White Coffee if a person who is hardworking and with a good attitude. Under those circumstances, they are able to join OldTown White Coffee without any certificate and experience. Accordingly, as mentioned by the Laszlo Bock who is the senior vice president of people operation claimed that 'GPA's are worthless as a criteria for hiring, and test scores are worthless' (Matyszczyk, 2013). It may seem as if pieces of certificate, skills and experience are the most important characteristics of an employee to work, however, attitude plays just as big of a role. Moultry Belcher (n.d.) believes that what good are great professional skills without the attitude to see it all through. By the same token, there are five key attitudes that employer should seek out in employees to ensure a harmonious professional environment and productive staff which is respectfulness, pridefulness, committment, innovation and helpfulness (Moultry Belcher, n.d.). With this intention, having a positive and good attitude is a must in the workplace. Having a positive attitude is the foundation of excellent customer service (Customer Driven Service, n.d.). Furthermore, the manager will not care about if hire male or female as it able to do the same thing such as giving the menu, serving the customer, taking order and collect money from customers. There are two type of employment which is part-time job and full-time job. As stated by Hafiz (2015) OldTown White Coffee is more prefer to hire the full-time worker than the part-time work. A possible drawback to hiring part-time workers is that they may not be as committed to the job or the company as a full-timer. As a result, absenteeism may be higher than with a full-time workforce. Part-time workers may also have less experience and may be limited in the types of tasks they can perform (Joseph, n.d.). On the other hand, the Malaysian Employment Act defines the work weeks as 48 hours, with a maximum of 8 working hours per day and 6 working days per week (Landed, 2015). A full time employees are not required to work more than 48 hours per week (Mylabourlaw, 2015).
2.7 Summary
In summary, I have summarized how the manager schedule in the workplace, the daily task, there are three section had classified by OldTown White Coffee, manager will conduct the meeting weekly and when the manager will submit the report to headquarter, and what will be consider by the manager when hiring as well. In order to have a good decision making, the manager of Oldtown White Coffee had planned well whether in the daily or in monthly task.
