Save the interview questions for your appendix. Make sure you save all documents and write down all necessary information down. As soon as you know what you’re writing, start the title page and transmittal. Prepare your conclusion, than edit your first draft. The title page contains four things: 1. The title of the report 2. Whom the report is prepared for 3. Whom it is presented by 4. The release date The letter of transmittal tells whom the report was authorized by and its purpose. It gives a basic summary, it helps explain how problems were solved, thanks the readers, and opens the floor for questions. Executive summaries briefly describe methods. The conclusion summarizes the body of the report. Recommendations tell us the actions that were taken and give rationale. The format we should use is PAIBOC. 24.2- In order to decide whether to write a memo or letter of transmittal you should use a memo if you’re a regular employee preparing the report and a letter if you are not. 24.4- The executive summary is the summary that tells the reader what the document is about. 24.5- To decide what heading to use in the body of a report is to mark those that are most important. ...WP/04/01 Bank of Uganda Working Paper Recognising the Role of Micro Finance Institutions in Uganda Justine Nannyonjo and James Nsubuga _________________________________ Bank of Uganda 2 WP/04/01 BOU Working PAPER Research Department Recognising the Role of Micro Finance Institutions in Uganda By Justine Nannyonjo and James Nsubuga February 2004 Abstract This paper shows that micro finance is an important part of the growth strategy in Uganda and has in the recent years gained increasing recognition. This is evidenced by initiatives and strong commitment by government, donors and practitioners towards supporting micro finance activities in Uganda, and the rapid expansion of the micro finance industry. Integration of Micro Finance Institutions (MFIs) into the formal financial system has been established, while measures have been taken to build capacity and enhance coordination in the micro finance industry, as well as expand the outreach of sustainable micro finance. The paper, however, identifies a number of challenges to the development of the micro finance industry: There is need to strengthen the capacity of MFIs to build their management information systems, and to rebuild infrastructure in underserved areas as well as strengthen capacity for identifying potential market structures, which could serve as the basis on which to build sustainable micro finance services. Other challenges include restoring peace in conflict areas and strengthening...

Project Management in Public Sector

...The life span of a municipal project is 12 Month, in that case is the responsibility of the project manager in the municipality to make sure that for them to get cost effective time management they must apply project time management. A subset of project management that includes the processes required to ensure timely completion of the project. It consists of activity definition, activity sequencing, activity duration estimating, schedule development and schedule control Project time management with PMBOK consists of six main processes. The first of these processes is in the definition of activities and action items. Project managers must identify the tasks to be undertaken during the project life cycle. Without the definition of activities and action items, there is nothing to schedule. Methods used to define activities during this process include decomposition and utilization of templates. Decomposition is a breakdown of milestones into action items. The templates may come from previous activities or previous projects. The second process in time management is the sequencing of activities. This process involves the mapping of task dependencies. To do this, project managers will require preceding documents. Tools for this activity include the precedence diagramming method, the arrow diagramming method and other methods for diagramming dependencies. The output for this process is the network diagram. A76 Process

...Situational Analysis: According to the United States Air Force Capital Flyer, in 1997, the Office of management and budget requested a cost comparison or A-76 study, over a three-year period that would affect 700 military and civilian positions within the Federal Government and military entities. The A-76 study reviewed the supply and maintenance operations to determine the effectiveness of maintaining these positions as military and Department of Defense (DOD) civilian entities or privatizing the positions through outsourcing. Contrary to popular belief an A-76 study is not contracting. Its purpose is to create cost savings for the DOD through a competitive sourcing program. “The A-76 circular mandates that the government procure commercially available goods and services from the private sector when it makes economic sense to do so”. (A-76 Cost Comparison Overview, p.1, 2002). The cultural makeup of the organization is active duty and federal employees. The A-76 was implemented before our retirement, we would like to revisit the process and research the outcome and its affect on the organization and its members. This research will uncover some of the problems associated with A-76 studies/processes outside of cost effectiveness. This study will provide the effects outside of cost savings, it will demonstrate the negative affects it has on federal/military personnel jobs, civilian pay, training and the morale of the organization. Premise: The outsourcing/A-76 study...

Six Min Walk

...SCOPE This statement provides practical guidelines for the 6-minute walk test (6MWT). Specifically, it reviews indications, details factors that influence results, presents a brief step-by-step protocol, outlines safety measures, describes proper patient preparation and procedures, and offers guidelines for clinical interpretation of results. These recommendations are not intended to limit the use of alternative protocols for research studies. We do not discuss the general topic of clinical exercise testing. As with other American Thoracic Society statements on pulmonary function testing, these guidelines come out of a consensus conference. Drafts were prepared by two members (P.L.E. and R.J.Z.) and were based on a comprehensive Medline literature search from 1970 through 2001, augmented by suggestions from other committee members. Each draft responded to comments from the working committee. The guidelines follow previously published methods as closely as possible and provide a rationale for each specific recommendation. The final recommendations represent a consensus of the committee. The committee recommends that these guidelines be reviewed in five years and in the meantime encourages further research in areas of controversy. BACKGROUND There are several modalities available for the objective evaluation of functional exercise capacity. Some provide a very complete assessment of all systems involved in exercise...

The paper has benefited from comments made by seminar participants at the Harvard Business School. All remaining errors are ours. * Abandoning Innovation in Emerging Industries Abstract Existing models of industry evolution describe a smooth pattern of emergence over time in which the number of firms in an industry increases, hits a peak, decreases as a result of a shakeout, and then stabilizes as the industry reaches maturity. Although this model has been well-accepted and the basic empirical finding holds true across a range of industries, we propose that the finding is not as robust as is generally assumed. We introduce an alternative pattern of evolution in which, during the emergent stage, an industry experiences a sharp decrease in the number of firms – a “mini shakeout” – before increasing again, reaching a final peak and undergoing a major shakeout as described in the extant literature. Using panel data across multiple product innovations introduced in the 20th century, we first show the pervasiveness of the mini shakeout phenomena. We then examine why some industries are more likely to experience a mini shakeout. Finally, using detailed quantitative and qualitative data on...
