Analysis of Nike’s success, it is possible to single out several factors contributed to the company’s progress. First of all, the most important factors of Nike’s success in its expansion in international markets wasthe shift of production to Asia. In fact, nowadays almost all the company products of Nike manufactured in Asian countries, such as Taiwan, China, Indonesia, Thailand and South Korea. It is noteworthy that, according to some experts, 99% of the 90 million shoes Nike sales produced in Asia every year had been done by a contractor workforce over 75000. Obviously, such a change has a positive economic impact of the development of Nike company manufactures its products in Asian countries, where labor was significantly higher than U.S, Europe, or Japan cheaper. For example, when Nike first moved to South Korea and Taiwan production of local wage $ 1 one hour in as little as one-tenth of the United States. The situation has been undergone a tremendous change in these recent years. As a result, the company has been successful in reducing the cost of production, not only to maintain but doubled or tripled revenue compared to last until 1996. Besides that, Nike is very committed to the local and global community. “At the core of the Nike brand is passion for sport and the role it can play in life.” It’s a belief that sport plays a critical role as a source of empowerment to help people reach their full potential. In particular, Nike sees sport as a means of challenging racism, resolving conflict, building leadership and teamwork and enhancing life skills for youth. . In

...After taking a look at Tim’s Coffee Shoppee I saw many problems with this business. The business has a good product with a great location, but some of the workers are not the best. There are a few that are great but on the other hand there are some that just need to be let go because they are hurting the business with their bad attitudes. I’m going to start with talking about the owner role in POLC and how Tim should be running his business. First off POLC is Planning, Organising, Leading and Controlling. Tim first off needs to come up with a vision and mission statement this way the customer and the staff will know what to expect. According to Mindtools (2012) A Mission Statement defines the organization's purpose and primary objectives. Its prime function is internal – to define the key measure or measures of the organization's success – and its prime audience is the leadership team and stockholders. Vision Statements also define the organizations purpose, but this time they do so in terms of the organization's values rather than bottom line measures (values are guiding beliefs about how things should be done.) The vision statement communicates both the purpose and values of the organization. For employees, it gives direction about how they are expected to behave and inspires them to give their best. Shared with customers, it shapes customers' understanding of why they should work with the organization. Every business should have these and with Tim’s Coffee Shoppee being...

Unit 3 Seminar Alternative Assignment

...We are now entering unit 3. We start out by discussing the POLC levels of management or as they are also known as, the four levels of management. The POLC system is the back bones of how to manage. POLC stands for planning, organization, leading, and control. In week three we will be taking an in depth look into the first step of the POLC method, which is planning. Week four will be about organization, week 5 about leading, and week 6 will conclude our learning of the POLC method by learning the last step, which is control. The three learning objectives for this week will be; learning the basic steps in the planning process, finding the relationship between strategic, tactical, and operational planning, and learning the elements of a basic SWOT analysis. Everything that we discuss, learn, or write about will be about these three learning objectives. We will be introduced to a case about a business called Sandwich Blitz Inc. run by Dalman and Lei. We will sometimes need to read about their management issues and then use the concepts we are learning to advise them of how to solve the problem they are having in their business. This may be a fake business but the challenge they face are common issues that we may someday face when trying to manage our own businesses. This week our discussion board and our assignment are about Dalman and Lei. Goals are the desired end results. But plans are the steps needed to actually reach those goals. There are six steps in the planning process...

...through other people,” (Robbins & Judge, pg. 5). This might seem like an extremely simple definition of a manager’s responsibilities, but it is the truth. There are many methods and ways in which a manager can develop their administrative and people skills. By using systematic study, utilizing the POLC and organizational behavior (OB) models, defining management roles, understanding OB challenges and opportunities, and assessing management skills and managerial activities, a manager can empower and motivate their employees, stimulate innovation, and improve customer service, while creating a healthy work environment. What is organizational behavior? Organizational Behavior is a “field of study that investigates the impact that individuals, groups, and structure have on behavior within organizations, for the purpose of applying such knowledge toward improving an organization’s effectiveness.” In other words, it is “the study of what people do in an organization and how their behavior affects the organization’s performance,” (Robbins & Judge, pg. 10). There are different tools that managers can use to better achieve their goals. One of these tools is called the POLC model. The POLC model consists of the four management functions: planning, organizing, leading, and controlling, (Robbins & Judge, pg. 6). This model can be applied to almost any managerial experience in the workplace. I am a General Manager at a restaurant, and I am able to apply this information and these functions...
