Police Operations
There are many types of Police operations. Policing in general has a wide range of different kinds of strategies and areas. In the following summary I will touch base with these different types of policing activities and operations as well as discuss the role that they way and how they all work together as one. To begin with one of the most important, in my opinion in police operations is the dangers of policing. The main principle that contributes to policing in general is the danger that comes with this sort of job. As police officers they are putting their lives at risk each and every single day.
They are never certain of what will happen. The minute they start their duty they can encounter all sorts of problems with all sorts of people. They deal with some of the most violent people and not to mention dangerous people as well. There have been numerous occasions in when officers have lost their lives after responding to a crime call. It happens very often, these officers are never guaranteed that they will be safe when the respond to a crime call. The dangerous of policing can start as simply as pulling someone over for running a stop sing or simply for a light they have off, or a suspended license registration.
Over all, the reason for an individual getting pulled over in unbearable. Bottom line is that if an individual gets pulled over for any of the above mentioned reasons does not mean that the person is not capable of having a criminal background, a warrant, or violent past. When officers pullover an individual they really have no clue what kind of person they are about to encounter. As officers it is very important that they are cautious and alert at all times. There have been stories when officers respond to calls and the individual retaliates on the officer, this issue has cost officers

The use of modern technology in today’s policing has become widespread in securing Americas borders and every day policing duties. In policing there are applications significant to the aid of police officers; database and information technology, computer-aided dispatch, records management systems, and mobile computing. When looking into the terrorism, Homeland Security and law enforcement agencies across the country it is so imperative that all of these agencies work together to solve crimes by information sharing and departmental assistance. The police will play an important role as peace keepers, specialist in antiterrorism, and community outreach professionals. The dangers that cause over half of all police deaths are traffic incidents. In 2009, 56 officers died in the line of duty by traffic incidents. ...What are the various functions of a police agency? Compare and contrast these functions at the Federal, State, and Local levels. What would happen if the various functions and roles of policing agencies were limited among communities? Policing Operations Today, we have many functions to police agency. The common functions are preventing and controlling conduct and behavior that may be a threat to someone’s life or property, meanwhile, also helping those that may be in danger of physical harm and creating and maintaining the security in communities. Police agencies can also be responsible for helping those that cannot or will not care for themselves, for example: Those under the influence, the mentally ill, and those that may be physically disabled. We do entrust the police agencies to resolve conflicts and to identify any problems that have the potential to escalate to a higher level. Now, depending on the levels police agencies are different, regardless if it is state, local or federal. The Federal agencies are in charge of an entire country, such as organized crime, and terrorism, and the Federal agencies are also known as “The FBI”. Now with the State agencies they work within certain states only, they are in charge of maintaining public safety, public relations, as well as the criminal investigations the state, agencies are also known as “State Troopers”. These changes begin in the community and carry on throughout the field of operations, to include areas of computer crimes, and technology departments especially developed for use by agencies like the police department to outfit the new age officer who is without a doubt pitted against one of the most dangerous predators ever know to mankind, the un-know, un-examined and oftentimes miss-understood minds of man himself. Police Operations

...Police Operations Name Police Operations Law enforcement agencies throughout the country are active in numerous activities and operations. Law enforcement at all three levels varies in labels, operations, authority, and jurisdiction. It’s interesting to consider that the different levels of law enforcement don’t necessarily cooperate with each other. Considering that all the levels of law enforcement have the same overall goal and face the same crimes, weapons, and technology advances, then it’s understandable that they actually should cooperate with each other. The Dangers of policing Danger is something that all police officers must face at some point in their career. In particular, the greatest danger for police officers is physical harm. At any given time, a police officer is at risk to be attacked or assaulted from a criminal. Then, there are the added dangers when officers lack sufficient backup. However, officers are trained to measure situations so they he/she does not go into a situation without the sufficient support or knowledge. Regardless, there still exist those situations in which an ordinary police procedure can escalate quickly. For example, a traffic cop can stop somebody for a traffic violation then have to face a violent or threatening individual when trying to issue a ticket. Furthermore, there are dangers at a lower scale than physical harm. There are dangers related to stress and issues in the personal lives of...

...Police Operations Fenisa Williams CJA-214 October 24, 2011 Kimberly Rieson Police Operations Policing agencies have a number of responsibilities and operations they must perform regardless if they are at the local, state, or federal level of the government. Even though there are similarities and differences between the agencies, there is still room for improvement in reference to the working relationships and communication among them. In addition, regardless if the agency is classified as a local, state, or federal agency, these agencies encounter the same day-to-day police dangers, use similar technology, and use the same basic types of weaponry. Dangers of Policing Each day an officer awakes to go to work his or her life is in danger. The dangers can range from getting into a car wreck on the way to work, while responding to a call, poor nutrition, assaulted on the scene of a call, and from handling of apprehend suspects. Driving is part on an officer’s daily duty; however, that does not make him or her immune to a car crash. Not only do they have to pay attention to what they are doing but also must be aware of the other hundreds of vehicles to who they are sharing the roadway. When an officer gets into a police chase, the likelihood of a wreck increases significantly. Therefore, an officer must have a valid reason to initiate a car chase. ...Police Operations Paper CJA/214 Dec 17, 2011 Police Operations Paper The role of law enforcement officer has many duties; officers are sworn to protect and serve by fighting crime, maintaining order and conducting other services that benefit the community. Often times, a police officer is considered a crime-fighter, and this image has been enlarged by media attention. Styles of policing must match the community they serve to ensure that the roles of the officers are relative to the community. The structure of future policing can have a dramatic social, economical and political effect on the community and departments needs to recognize these aspects to ensure proper policing. Law enforcement agencies take part in several functions that place officers in situations that may possibly be life threatening. Dangers Law enforcement endangerments are regrettably real and officers are wounded or murdered in the line of duty every year in the United States. Bodily harm is most likely the greatest threat an officer will face. An officer is confronted with the possibility of assault by an armed offender every time the officer is called to respond to some form of disturbance. Bodily harm and death to an officer are not the only dangers of policing. Stress related illnesses and family issues can also contribute to the danger of police work. Challenging jobs can take a grim toll on an officer’s life and well-being, if staying safe and the pressure are not coped...

Unethical Police Operations

...The actions of police are watched very closely. To the public, they are seen as those who protect and preserve the peace. However, there have been many situations in which victims have had to testify against a police officer because of some type of misconduct. When this happens, it takes a serious toll on the entire community. Trust becomes ruined, and in most cases the victim is left with a mental scar. Police officers have ethics that they are expected to follow. In the cases where they do not follow these ethics, they have to deal with more serious offenses. [Because of the special role that officers play in society, federal courts and professional perspectives place restrictions on an officer’s behavior on and off duty] (University Of Phoenix, 2012, p. 1). In this paper, I will explain unethical police operations. I will describe the extent of police corruption, misconduct and brutality in the United States. I will also Research two current cases on police corruption and brutality. Just because an officer wears a uniform does not give him or her the right to use his or her authority for personal gain. Officers are expected to follow certain ethics and rules just as we are. Police corruption and misconduct happens every day. A situation of police corruption occurs when an officer bribes a criminal to pay him or her in large sums of money without receiving any other type of penalty, overlooking violations of the law. There are also cases in which officers receive drugs from...

Unethical Police Operations

...Unethical Police Operations Taylor Whitehead-McGuire CJS 241 January 11, 2016 Arnold Wicker Unethical Police Operations Police officers play a significant role in society and are held to a higher standard. There are procedures and laws that they must abide by when performing their law enforcement duties. Some officers bend or break these rules and commit corruption, misconduct, and police brutality. Not all cases are caught. Some are swept under the rug. For those who are caught and found guilty of these acts, examples are made out of them. All though a small percentage are reprimanded there is still a large issue within policing that is mishandled. The three terms may overlap and become confusing. Each of the three are considered criminal activity. They each are very different. Police corruption is defined as acts involving the misuse of authority by a police officer in a manner to produce personal gain. Two elements are required for corruption to be committed: personal gain, and misuse of authority. Police corruption generates a high cost on police, the criminal justice system, as well as society. Not only does corruption by police undermine public confidence for police and the effectiveness of the criminal justice system, it also helps to protect others who are committing criminal activity. (Walker & Katz, 2013) Corruption takes on many forms and various by degree of seriousness. Several corruption activities include violent crimes, denial of civil rights, criminal...

Constructing Formulas for Mathematical Operations in Excel (Basic Tips and Techniques)

...Constructing Formulas for Mathematical Operations in Excel (Basic Tips and Techniques) Michelle A. Applequist Computer Information Systems (CIS105) Professor Hari Dhungana Strayer University September 1, 2009 Constructing Formulas for Mathematical Operations in Excel Microsoft Excel uses formulas to construct mathematical operations in a worksheet. After data have been entered into the worksheet, you can perform calculations, analyze data, and create charts. An Excel formula (calculations you create) and functions (formulas pre-existing in Excel) calculates the data entered in the worksheet. Formulas calculate numbers in a particular order. “Excel has one of the most comprehensive set of formulas, not only to perform calculations but also to manage data and records. It also has the ability to instantaneously re-calculate the results as the raw data changes” (Khoo, 2006-9, para. 2). To construct a formula after you have entered data, you must click in the cell that you want the results to appear in, and then type the formula. You can construct formulas by using the sum function, and editing numbers in a cell. It is stated that: Sum is an Excel function—a prewritten formula. Sum indicates the type of calculation that will take place (addition). When the sum function is activated, Excel looks above the active cell for a range of cells to sum. If there is no range above the cell, Excel will look to the left for a range of cells to...
