...Gregory Bady Paper Project 1 June 21, 2015 Before taking the quiz I was not aware of exactly where I stood on my political beliefs. Before taking this class I was not intune with my political side at all. I did know how ever that I shared views on certains things but did not know exactly where I stood on my views. After taking the quizzes they stated that I was more on the liberals side. The results were around what I expected especially after I started learning the definition of liberals and conservatives and the beliefs of one each one believes in. The results of each quiz that I took were very similar. I feel as if I am very unwavering in my beliefs and that is why the outcome of the test results were the same. I do agree with the outcome of the results from the test that I participated in. It was pretty accurate when I took into account and researched the beliefs and ideas of someone that considers thierselves a liberals. There are a few things that I found in my research that I did not agree completely with their ideas. A few of those were on topics dealing with healthcare and also topics that dealt with immigration. For the most part tho most of the ideas associated with the way that liberals think I was in agreement with. Quizzes like this I think are very useful tools especially to individuals like myself that are not for sure on what political catergories they fall under. Tools like this help give a better understanding and kinda puts everything into a better...

“Pressure Groups Define the Political Issues That Dominate Us Politics”.Discuss.

...Bianca Capatina “Pressure groups define the political issues that dominate US politics”.Discuss. Being the most pluralist political system in the world, it comes as expected that pressure groups would have a considerable amount of influence over the American system. However, their sectional views alone are not dictating the political agenda of the US politics, but rather influencing it at different levels(local/state/national), depending on their insider/outsider status and levels of funding. Firstly, because Congress is dominated by their representative function, pressure groups have a leading role in the US elections. This is because their power and influence is heightened by Political Action Committees , which are pressure groups that collect money from their members (up to $5,000/individual)and give it to candidates and political parties which support their interests. This was done by protecting elected officials from accountability in 2000, when 98% of the House incumbents were re-elected, undermining the political efficiency and leaning towards corruption.Their influence could be further observed in 2012, when the SUPERPAC Priorities USA spent $67 mil. on advertising for Obama’s re-election. Priorities USA’s belief is that Republicans’ agenda is to reward the wealthiest few at at the expense of the middle class, so it it came naturally that after he got elected Obama cut the income tax of the middle class families and also offered them tax reliefs. Secondly, the revolving...

The software process models in software engineering are the workflow model which shows the sequence of activities in a process along with the inputs, outputs and dependencies, the dataflow or activity model that represents a process as a set of activities each of which curves out some data showing how the input to a process is transformed to an output and finally the role or otherwise referred to as the action model which represents the roles of people involved in the software and the activities for which they are responsible. Social Problems

...Social Problems Holly Regan HSM/240 January 17, 2014 Terra Harris Social Problems Some words may have alternate meanings, become more defined or even more complex within the context of human services. The definition of problem within the context of human services has a few specific meanings such as any specific thing, matter, person, or situation that is difficult to deal with, solve or overcome and a source of perplexity, distress or vexation. According to our text it states an example of the defined word and its proper use, which can and will vary according to the circumstances of the problem. An example could be by identifying drug abuse by noting the use, intentional exposure to, or ingestion of any illegal chemical substances used in a nonmedical way, (Chambers and Wedel, 2005). This also can be defined in another way people are more prone to hearing and can identify better with, addiction; the problem would be better known as addiction instead of using. The definition of policy within the context of human services is a program of actions adopted by the individual, government agency or organization or is based on the specific set of principles, a specific course of action or a selected method chosen from alternatives as a guide to determine present and future decisions along with a plan which embraces the general goals of acceptable policies and procedures. Pros and Cons Marijuanna

...Tiago Flores Feijó Professor Lawrence 097 – M03 25 November 2014 A current topic in political debates, TV shows or even in chatting with friends is the legalization of marijuana. It is a polemical issue in our society with a lot of pros and cons. However, the main issue in this debate is why marijuana is still prohibited? The legalization will be the solution for several social problems that we have in our society, such as traffic, murders and everything that is involved in this illegal market. Serious dependence is the first argument that people against the legalization use in a debate. They say that marijuana causes dependence, and this dependence could interfere in social life of users, for example, school and job performance. First of all, there are research comproving that marijuana is less harmful to human health than most of other banned drugs, such as cocaine or crack. Furthermore, marijuana is less harmful than the main two legal drugs that we have nowadays. The dependence of tobacco and the changes in our mind of alcohol are countless times more harmful than marijuana. The main point in this discussion more than the dependence, is the social problems that the illegal commerce of marijuana causes. The current ways adopted by the government to combat the traffic are not working. The government does not know how to stop this illegal commerce. It happens because even with the legal prohibition the consumers do not stop to consume drugs and it does not stop trafficker...

Immorality and adultery is also another key problem that requires attention. Most family break ups and divorces have been brought about by these two issues. Immorality in the society has led to cases of rape which to some extent also involve young girls who later drop out of school. This ultimately leads...

It draws upon three mixed-method studies, with an emphasis on the qualitative data which offer an in-depth insight into how people make sense of climate change. The paper defines engagement as an individual’s state, comprising three elements: cognitive, affective and behavioural. A number of common barriers emerge from the three studies, which operate broadly at ‘individual’ and ‘social’ levels. These major constraints to individual engagement with climate change have implications for achieving significant reductions in greenhouse gases in the UK. We argue that targeted and tailored information provision should be supported by wider structural change to enable citizens and communities to reduce their carbon dependency. Policy implications for effective engagement are discussed. r 2007 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved. Keywords: Climate...

Shared Value Creation Review

...Shared Value Creation; Revolution or Rhetoric? Abstract The concept of Creating Shared Value(CSV), was made popular in a Harvard Business Review(2011)by M. Porter and R Kramer defines as, policies and operational practices that enhance the competitiveness of the company while transforming social problems which is related to the corporation into business opportunities and simultaneously yield greater profitability(Porter, Kramer,2011). As it sounds, it is a seductive promiseand has so far received obscene attention in the business markets and among business educators. Both authors seeks to regain trust in “business and society who has pitted against each other so long” …”Learning how to create shared value is our best chance to legitimize business”(Porter, Kramer, 2011) is how companies were viewed as prospering at the expense of the community. With both aims of evaluating and analysing the concept of creating shared value, in this paper, we suggest how CSV can help businesses harness its full potential by simply creating economic value while simultaneously creating value for society. Focusing on making the right kind profits, companies should look beyond just merely maximum profits but also integrates social benefits at the same time; starting a positive cycle which reconnects business with society. In CSV, it represents a new approach for businesses moving beyond CSR approaches in the past. However promising this bold new approach is, it has also created polarized...
