Addicted to electronics, and its side effects

Today technology is evolving rapidly and shows no sign of slowing anytime. While this is happening many people are starting to adopt the new technology and this affects their kids. There are debates that currently say that kids are using too much technology which relates to a number of different issues. Figuring out what problems are occurring from too much of this electronic use can do to a person is what I tend to find in this essay. Many people believe that electronics are great learning tools, as with many electronics this is true however there is still a gaming or addictive side of this. There are also the electronics that have no educational aspect to them what so ever. So, should kids be limited to the amount of daily electronic use? The average kid sponges in 2.5 hours of music each day, almost five hours of TV and movies, three hours of Internet and video games, and just 38 minutes of old-fashioned reading, according to a new study by the Kaiser Family Foundation. That adds up to 75 hours of media every week. And that doesn't even include the hour and a half spent text messaging each day, and the half hour kids talk on the cell phone. “The cell phone or smart phone is a common fad now days, everywhere you go more and more kids are getting them. This is the device that is causing all these issues with kids. Studies have shown that the more a student is involved in their electronics have an average grade around a “C”. This is due to the fact that kids can always have that access to things away from home, during lunch, study hall, and on the bus.”(World News. 2010) It’s more than just phones, regardless of the device there are still issues that arise with over use. In the past, medical science looked purely at the physical effects of electronics on humans: The radiation absorbed by sitting too closely to those old-fashion TV screens, the effects of TV on the eyes, the volume of the sound and its implication for future hearing loss, etc. Some psychologists proposed that electronics were a determent to one's mental functions but studies in this area were not taken seriously by mainstream medicine.
“Today science and medicine takes a much broader look at the effects of electronics on health. We know that many forms of electronics are very passive in nature and time spent with them is time not spent being physically active, i.e. the "couch potato" syndrome. Some of these electronics are not only physically passive but also mentally passive - no thinking required. Before we pass any judgment we need to note that there are situations where these various limitations make perfect sense.” (Palo Alto, 2012) For example a person who is temporarily confined to their house or bed may benefit from using electronics that keep them in contact with, and interacting with, people outside of their house. People with uncommon conditions (physical or psychological), may benefit from interacting with similar people - people who do not live nearby.
Their purpose is not always negative. Electronic devices offer children opportunities for recreation, socialization, entertainment, and learning. Some electronic games help teach academic subjects, and many games have intricate story lines that may enrich children’s imaginations. When kids keep up with popular shows and games they may be better able to interact with their peers. Social networking sites offer children an opportunity for socializing, and an opportunity to gain support and guidance from peers. The internet is now essential for much academic research.
But we need to return to the question of how much is too much. Unfortunately there is no one single answer. To know for certain here are some questions you can ask yourself to help determine if you need to put a limit on their use.
• First are they getting enough physical exercise?
• Are they getting enough sleep?
• Are they receiving enough mental stimulation to grow and mature?
• Are they interacting with family or friends or isolating themselves?
• Are they getting their assignments in school done on time?
”The rule of thumb when it comes to kids is nine servings of fruits and vegetables per day, at least one hour of exercise per day and less than one hour of electronic for entertainment. They call this the 9-1-1 rule.”(All Ways, 2011) As you can see the argument is plain and simple. Spending too much time on electronics can have physical, emotional and physiological effect not only on kids but adults. Kids are the many problems because what they learn in their early years will affect them throughout their adult life. If you can change things now, they will be much better off. I stand strong about limiting their use. I believe it’s much better to have them use their imagination to explore things on their own and play physically with others outside. Electronics do have their place in life which makes many things more efficient in business, school and play. However we as parents and role models need to make sure we see the issues and put a limitation down before it becomes a problem.

English Interview

1. Tell me about yourself. I really love the feeling of running on the road and I take cars as my best friends.” 2. What are your three greatest strengths? 铁芸说回答这个问题的时候不可以含混不清,不可以只是简单回答 “I’m really organized, punctual and get along well with others.” 比如要应聘金融行业,可是说 “I think my three strongest strengths are details-oriental, patient and cautious.” 但是如果应聘者是一个销售精英,可以说:“I think my strongest strengths are aggressive, hard working and communicative.” 3. What are your three greatest weaknesses? 比如:“I am a perfectionist and I pay very much attention to details. Sometimes I am quite captious.” 4. Why are you interested in working for our company? 因此不要以“It seemed like a good career move, ”或是 "I haven't been able to find anything else interesting.”为开始。如果能有一些实际问题回答的话,就会更大的加分,铁芸建议应聘者可以这样: “I read an article in the...

Recruitment of Star

...After reading ‘ Recruitment of a Star ’ it has become convincingly evident that only one candidate stood out amount the rest with regard to RHS corporate values, anlytical requirements and contribution potential. Although all candidates show strong qualifications, the candidate I am reffering to is Sonia Meetha First of all Mrs. Meetha’s credentials are extremely impressive. After seeking feedback from people whom Mrs. Meetha has work with, it was reported that her work is thorough, solid and insightful and that companies have come to rely on her work. She was recongized as an ‘up and comer’ as per II standards, whic is exactly where ı thınk she should be so that the fırm can benefit the most. She is at a perfect point in her career so that RHS can mold/mentor her into its culture without inheriting negative practices picked up at other big firms all with the goals of helping her relaize her full potential, which would be of an extreme benefit for the company. Also, while at WHS, she has managed to cover the franchise by herself without the assistance of a junior analyst, which tell me that her work ethic is impeccable. Her performance ratings have grown over the last three years, she’s built good networks, which include CEO’s of major companies as well as divisional managers and staff. In addition, Mrs. Meetha has shown a keen interest in organizational structure, which is something that is highly valued at RHS. As evidenced in structure, which is something that is highly...

...1. Culture is an essential element of organizing in the P-O-L-C framework. Do you think Google has a strong culture? What would it take to make changes in that culture, for better or for worse? Undoubtedly Google has one of strongest cultures in today’s corporate World. The strong work culture has paid off for Google as it is ranked consistently as the best place to work. If Google were to remain in the best position in the future, It has to change continuously and evolve accordingly to face the competitors. Google’s cultural innovations might be imitated in other companies as well. It is easy to have a good corporate life style when the company the company is doing very well on the economic front. When company’s resources become more constrained with the maturing of its industry and its business model, these kind of investments will be harder to make. De La Rue Discussion

...countries Until the planet becomes cash-less or De La Rue consistently fails to live up to it’s long-established reputation there is no reason to think its competitive advantages are not sustainable. If we think about this business from the point of view of a country looking to outsource such a vital component to their infrastructure as currency, then cost-effectiveness along with a long standing reputation for success become very key. The barriers to enter into this business based on the sensitive nature of the service are extremely high and simply too risky to place in the hands of an un-established leader in the industry. The botched order in 2010 and subsequent new business despite the gaffe lend credence to the fact that De La Rue’s position in the industry is solid. If the company had not made the appropriate changes to insure these problems would not come up in the future - or the subsequent orders also proved problematic, then perhaps they may have been in for some trouble. Carpooling

...The shared economy is in the process of evolving into a significant element of the economic cycle. The idea of sharing things and using them together has worked perfectly well for hundreds of years. All of sudden, however, it has begun to spawn disruptive business models with spiralling customer numbers and revenues to match. Carpooling is becoming a common way to travel and consumers are opening their homes to others e.g. Airbnb. This particular "new economy" is not going to go away again. On the contrary, it will achieve a much more dominant position in the years ahead. Why? Because it accommodates the fundamental human need to be part of a community, share with others, build relationships, make friends and, specifically, to entrust things to other people. Swapping and sharing was common practice long before we had paper money and modern-style companies. The shared use of resources was based on personal ties and/or geographic proximity However, new communication technologies are radically changing the playing field in a positive sense. The internet, smartphones and mobile positioning services are shrinking the entire planet to the size of a neighbourhood. Ubiquitous social media has breathed new life into a notion of community that had long seemed confined to private spaces and a distinctly modest scale. Now, online platforms and marketplaces are spawning new relationships that, in the past, would never have been conceivable without face to face contact. The shared economy...

Social Contract Position Essay

...Social Contract Position Essay Monique Stephens September 8, 2013 Instructor: Michael Crandell Course: HCA-255 | Health Policy and Health Economics After reading the old social contract it made me think about how healthcare is today and the obstacles that citizens face today to have coverage for healthcare. I feel that the government is trying to move in the correct direction in creating a new social contract, but before that can be done; everyone needs to review and evaluate the things that went wrong with the regulations previously and either alter them or create new rules. I feel that the Affordable Care Act is one way that things are improving regulations into a new social contract. If I could create a new social contract, I would start by figuring out how all citizens would benefit from a universal form of insurance coverage. Then I will see how each financial class will be able to contribute to the healthcare plans without having an increase in taxes and other things. If states still wanted to have forms of Medicaid and Medicare, I would try to set new regulations, definitely for Medicaid. I feel that individuals that are currently on Medicaid and other form of government assistance, do not fully need it and can be independent in some ways. Some regulations I would make is that recipients have to be working to contribute if they are able to and there will be programs to assist individuals to get on their feet to help them obtain a form of the universal insurance...

Rawls

...Rawls vs. Nozick In this essay I will explain the main theories Rawls and Nozick have on distributive justice and the role of the government in economic life, I will analyze and compare them and eventually indicate my preference. I will start with John Rawls and his thoughts in a theory of justice. Rawls strive to determine how we can make a society as just as possible. Rawls derives two principles; liberty principle and the difference principle. It is the latter I am going to analyze more closely. He also gives a theoretical device that he calls “the original position” and “the veil of ignorance” this device is ment to help us in the way that we picture our self behind a veil. We do not know the basic things about ourselves like our sex, age, financial status etc. This device is to help us be totally neutral in the sense that we do not know our status in society. After putting our self in a status quo if you will, we can now decide on what us just for the whole society. Rawls derives then the difference principle; to put this is Rawls own word the difference principle is: “Then the difference principle is a strongly egalitarian conception in the sense that unless there is a distribution that makes both persons better off an equal distribution is to be preferred.”(Rawls - theory of justice. 84/85) So in other words, the inequalities in a society can only be justified if it benefits the person that is least off. This is the main subject the debate between nozick and...
