POSITIVE ATTITUDE
A Positive attitude is very important in the society today as it will really help a lot of people. Many people will be attracted towards a person with a positive attitude. A positive attitude clears the mind. The effect of a positive attitude can lead to a healthier lifestyle. It could also help to solve problems, if society adopted it. There are a large number of benefits by having a positive attitude. By looking at the bright side of life, life becomes filled with light. This light affects not only the individual, but also the whole environment and the people around. There are many benefits to having a positive attitude.
Individuals who have a positive attitude will often times attract other people to them. Most of the time people would prefer to spend time with individuals who have a positive attitude. By doing so, an individual can often have a positive influence on the people around them. By improving the individuals disposition, it will have a ripple effect that positively influences everyone in the area. By always being positive around people, a person can always help people.
A Positive attitude will enable people to have a unique view of the world and have positive thinking. In the mind of a positive person, everything is possible to achieve, and failure is an option because it allows them to grow. If they face a problem or they make a mistake they often learn something, and recover from it and find a solution to solve it. By learning from mistakes, people can easily adapt to different situations. If people focus on the positive aspect of things, they will be happier and will be able to achieve almost anything.
Difficulties in your life do not come to destroy you, but to help you realise your hidden potential and power. let difficulties know that you too are difficult ~Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam

Positive thinking helps a person find a way in a difficult task or a tough situation. He starts feeling that something can be done to overcome the difficulties that are looming large at that moment. It is said that a serious person finds a way, while an idler finds an excuse. The difference between these two is that of attitude-of being hopeful or being without hope. A person who keeps hopes alive gives himself a chance to succeed, however difficult the task. He puts in earnest endeavours. He may get favour of luck, and help may come from unexpected quarters. On the other hand, a person who loses hope can never make a whole-hearted effort. His battle is half lost even before the start.
It is said that life is not a bed of roses. Each person has to face difficult situation in his life. If one becomes fearful and apprehensive about the results, feelings of frustration, depression and disappointment will enter his mind and hinder his normal faculties of working. He may even end up poorer than he actually is. In the present age of tough competition nothing is given by the world on a platter.
Those who do not put in the required amount of efforts are left behind to suffer and repent. ‘Hope sustains life’ is an old, time-tested adage. It accentuates the importance of positive thinking. If you do not think positively you may lose the initiative to do well to achieve your objectives. Positive thinking builds will power. People have reached dizzy heights by sheer will power supported by hard work. When there is will there is a way is not an idle statement. It contains a lot of substance.
We need to make a proper assessment of the task in hand, prepare a plan of action finding, the right method to perform it, and then make an integrated endeavour. Applying wrong methods even with positive thinking will result into the failure. Depending entirely on hope or unexpected help or a stroke of luck is foolishness not positive thinking. Hope is secondary to efforts. Positive thinking therefore essentially means to be hopeful of a good result after making the required effort. It is an attitude to go for the performance of a task with a hope that it can be done. It also means to be confident of success in a difficult situation hoping that even such a situation can be controlled if we do what it takes. Efforts are the base on which hope is built; without the required amount of efforts, endeavour or hard work-whatever you call it, no one can be sure of success.

Positive Work Attitude

...Everybody has a bad day from time to time. It is hard not working and searching for a job. It gets frustrating. Your attitude is everything about you.” Your attitude soaks into everything that you do- how you walk, how you look, how you look someone in the eyes, how you respond , how you engage” (Rasmussen, 2014). Having a positive attitude brings positive things in your life. If you have a negative attitude everything tends to stay away. Work attitude is something people cannot be seen it is felt. The most important factor is a positive attitude. “Customers will respond to a positive person, conduct repeat business that they like” (Keeping the Joy, 2015). If customers are happy the will also let others know as well. “In today’s life when one is thronged with worries and tension all around, it is very difficult to maintain a positive attitude. And often the more you try and be positive, the more it seems the negative energy around you gains strength” (Singal, 2010). So there are ways to change your lifestyle to live a positive life. “Do not wait for good things to happen to you” (Singal, 2010). To get things you have to work for what you have. Things are just not going to be handed to you. “Surround yourself with positive people and your will be more positive” (Gamanche, 2009). Being around positive people, a lot of their actions have impact your lives. Never take life for granted, be thankful every day. “Be thankful about what you have, who you are, and what...

Character Ethic vs Personality Ethic

...personality, it is still worth noting the importance of character and realizing the profound meaning of success. The character ethic is based on attributes such as integrity, fidelity, courage, compassion, contribution, responsibility and justice. It seems that as long as people say and do the right things and package themselves in the right ways, they will be more likely to gain the results they want (Bloodgood, Tuenley, & Mudrack, 2008). In contrast, the personality ethic concentrates more on techniques than on principles. These techniques basically deal with how to take care of themselves, such as, how to look good, how to dress in particular ways, how to create the right image, how to perform in social interactions and other positive mental attitude, skills to get people to behave in certain ways (Cleek & Leonard, 2008). In other words, the personality ethic focuses on how to ‘appear to be’ rather than how to ‘actually be’ (Bloodgood et al., 2008). Indeed, some personality techniques have real merits...

Og Mandino

...salesmen. With this job, he found himself in bars during later hours of the day. This turned him into an alcoholic. He could not keep a steady job, which, in turn, led to his wife and first child leaving him. Suicidal, Og went to a library in an attempt to read anything to get his spirits up. This became a trend as Og began reading tirelessly. He eventually began writing his own motivational books and became a speaker. I believe Og's inspiration for this quote came when he was beginning to write his books on motivation. "He read hundreds of books that dealt with success, a pastime that helped him alleviate his alcoholism. It was in a library in Concord, New Hampshire, where he found W. Clement Stone's classic, Success Through a Positive Mental Attitude, a book that changed Og for the better. Og eventually became a successful writer and speaker." The countless number of books Og read is what I believe inspired him to say this quote. I believe the message of the quote is to never give less than 100% effort in life because what you do now will eventually reflect what your life is like in the future. What Og meant is that the choices we make everyday will affect us later and that is why we must always do our best, because our future is what is at stake. I relate to this quote to my school work. I must always do my best, because what I do now, will affect what college I get into, what people I meet, what job I eventually end up with. Get the hard work out of the way first. The planting...

Work – Family Conflict and Emotions: Effects at Work and at Home

...and marketing firm called Coast 2 Coast Marketing, it was imperative for me to keep a high PMA (Positive Mental Attitude) to perform well in the sales aspect of the position. The times where I had conflicts at home or worries about things at home would definitely affect my performance at work. I was not the only one also. I would see these same patterns in my recruits (The Spartans). While they were going through conflicts at home, they were more likely to get irritated by certain tasks I would assign to them, or be somewhere else completely mentally instead of focusing on the task at hand. There was one instance where a recruit of mine felt guilty about a home situation at work (he had stolen money out of his mother’s purse due to not having enough to get to work let alone buy food etc.) and I offered to talk to him about what was bothering him. After spilling his guts to me, I offered him some money and advised him to call me or ask me before the end of the day if he needed any money so that way he does not have to steal from his mother again. He must have taken offence to the offer I had given him because he had automatically snapped at me saying, “What do you think you’r my father or something trying to give me money. I don’t need the hand out, don’t disrespect me like that again.” I was shocked to hear that response from my recruit. I was expecting a thank you or something positive, yet I was responded to with...

Good Life Questions

...The Good Life Part I 1. Dignity is God’s gift to each and every individual and is first rooted in the relationship with God. According to Gula, Christians believe that every person in the world is made in the image of God and, therefore, they have worth value and dignity. 2. A gift is what we have received, and we give to the community. According to Gula, every individual’s gift is supposed to developed and cherished so that they can be shared with other individuals. Among the greatest of gifts is to be made in God’s 3. Responsibility is the effort we put towards living the way Jesus shows human beings should live. Responsibility according to Gula is what human dignity is in addition to 4. Humility is one of the fundamental values together with gratitude that are important in living a good life. Humility is also an individual’s acceptance of their abilities and limitations. It is the middle ground between the extremes of self-effacement and pride 5. Gratitude is among the two primary values together with humility to living a good life. Gratitude is a virtue that also closely follows with humility in accepting that every gift individuals have received are meant to be shared. Attitude Theories

...Attitude Theories Your attitude is your positive or negative evaluation about an object. There is more than one theory about how a person’s attitude is formed through cognitive, behavioral, and affective processes. This paper will outline two theories of how a person’s attitude is formed. Self Perception Theory Fazio stated that self perception theory argued that attitudes stem from the observation of one’s behavior. (Fazio, 1987, p. 129) A person’s attitude toward something is formed after that person observes their behavior toward an object. An example is you listen to rock music, therefore you must like it, and you would form a positive attitude towards rock music based on your behavior of listening to it. An individual decides their attitude, and emotional feeling toward an object based on the observation of their own behavior and the circumstances that caused the behavior. Self-perception theory also suggests that when the internal cues are weak or uninterpretable, the individual is in the same position as the outside observer who must rely on external cues to infer the individual’s inner state. (Bem, 1972) What I believe to be a negative aspect of this attitude theory is I don’t believe an attitude toward an object is based solely on one’s behavior. An example would be as a child my mother told me to eat spinach and even though I ate the spinach, didn’t mean I liked it because I ate it. I ate it so I wouldn’t get in trouble but my attitude towards spinach was that I...

Implicit Association Test

...Implicit Association Test Gina Pylka ETH/125 October 27, 2013 Constance Dolecki Implicit Association Test I found taking a couple of the tests on the IAT homepage interesting. The test I took said I had an automatic preference for young compared to old. I found the results something to think about. I would of said I had no known preference. In examining our own prejudices I think we automatically respond in terms of race and ethnic backgrounds. There are so many other areas in life where our prejudices surface. My understanding of prejudice is a negative attitude towards an entire group of people. By this simple explanation after taking this test it becomes clear to me that without even realizing it there is a prejudice because I prefer one group to another. This being the case for most of us I will assume for right now. I would have to say that prejudice would be difficult to measure. Some prejudice is very clear and directly out in the open. Some examples would be in how we respond to other’s because of the where they live or how they dress. Jumping to conclusions about someone without getting to know them is such a loss for everybody involved I personally feel. What has come clear to me in this weeks assignments is that no matter how hard we try I think we are always prejudice against others. The lines aren’t always clear when it comes to how we approach or avoid people as we go about own individual lives. Boundaries can shift as things happen to us or around us...

Marketing Example

...Name Writing Assignment #1 Date I have purchased a product within the last week and half using many of the marketing examples we recently learned about in Chapters 1-4. I have an app on my phone called Wanelo, and it allows you to browse through different items posted on a very simple screen. They have a good website because it saves everything that I have liked, looked at, and even pulls new items in based on what I recently have viewed. One day I was just browsing on this app using my technology, and came across a dress I liked, so I clicked on it and it took me to the website. I went to all the dress selection, and found a dress I just needed to have. I then realized a marketing transaction was going to occur because there was me and the owner, my desire of wanting the dress, communication through email or phone, and my money in exchange for the dress. With this product, I was part of the target market and when I was purchasing it I had to consider the Four P’s: product, price, promotion, and place. The product was my dress, the price was reasonable, the promotion was the convenience of “one click” buy, and the place was the newly installed app right at my fingertips. In the buying process, there were most of the environmental forces in play. I think the social force, played the biggest role as the site was aimed towards everyone but then did a special draw for the generation Y people. There was also the economic forces with knowing my income to whether I...

...SUGENTHEERAN KOMANNAYAR (28380) GAYTHRI KUPUSAMY (26347) SELF PERCEPTION THEORY Self-perception theory is an account of attitude change developed by psychologist Daryl Bem. It asserts that people develop their attitudes by observing their behaviour and concluding what attitudes must have caused them. The theory is counterintuitive in nature, as the conventional wisdom is that attitudes come prior to behaviours. Furthermore, the theory suggests that a person induces attitudes without accessing internal cognition and mood states. The person reasons their own obvious behaviours rationally in the same way they attempt to explain others’ behaviours. The self perception theories is categories into three parts which is, Foot-In-The-Door technique There is both foot-in-the-door phenomenon and foot-in-the-door technique. As you can guess, the technique is used to get the phenomenon. The phenomenon is the tendency for people to comply with some large request after first agreeing to a small request. As you can then imagine, the technique is used to get compliance from others (to get them to behave in a way you want) in which a small request is made first in order to get compliance for a larger request. For example, someone might want you to give to give 5 hours of your time a week for the three months as a volunteer to a charity (a big request). But to get you to agree to this big request, they first ask you to volunteer for 1 hour one time and one time only. After hearing...

The Relationship Between Attitudes and Behavior

...Relationship between Attitudes and Behavior Attitude is holding a particular object in some degree of favor or disfavor. The attitude object can be a person, an event, an action or a thing. Previously it was believed that the inner dispositions are what controlled the actions of man. This is to say that man is rational with all behavior being deliberate. However, evidence has shown that this is not always the case and though attitude does influence behavior to an extent, it is not the only factor that influences behavior. Moreover, in some cases behavior can cause attitude change. Theory of planned behavior This theory aimed at predicting deliberate and premeditated behavior. The theory was an add on to the previously formulated theory of reasoned Action when research proved that human action is not entirely voluntary or controlled by rational reason. According to this theory the greatest determinant that leads to behavior is intention (a person’s willingness and readiness to perform a certain action). This intention is determined by attitude towards the behavior, subjective norms and an individual’s perception on their ability to control behavior (Ajzen 2005). Cognitive Dissonance theory According to this theory people have a tendency of seeking a consistency in their inner dispositions (both attitudes and beliefs). Further there is also a need for personal behavior to be in tune with attitudes and beliefs held. If there is a disconnect between behavior and attitudes, then it is...
