...Creating a Plan for Positive Influence University of Phoenix LDR 531 November 22, 2010 Creating a Plan for Positive Influence The Learning Team has been assigned a large project. A plan will be created that may be applied in a business setting and would increase the team’s motivation, satisfaction, and performance. Specific differences in attitudes, emotions, personalities, and values will be addressed in collaboration. How each difference influences behavior will be discussed. How these differences will be effectively implemented in the plan to positively influence the team will be discussed. All team environments can be challenging. In order for the team to work together, the team must realize one another’s personalities. Every team member must be aware of his or her own personality and how he or she will work into the team. The personality characteristics must be understood as in relation to the other team member’s personalities. Learning one’s own personality will enable the team to not only learn about themselves but better work with other team personalities. Motivation, Satisfaction, and Performance In order to increase the team’s motivation, satisfaction, and performance one must maintain a well-balanced order. Plan for Positive Influence

...Plan for Positive Influence Through various behavioral assessments employers can determine best practices to improve employee motivation, satisfaction, and performance. Measurement tools can include assessments of employee personality traits and characteristics, work behaviors and attitudes, and job involvement and satisfaction. By using the information gathered from these assessments, employers can develop comprehensive plans to improve relational processes to bring together different individuals to work together in productive ways. For example, employees who have differing values, personalities, and emotional intelligence can learn new behavioral patterns to successfully collaborate in the workplace. Team members completed several example assessments to determine behavioral factors such as predominant personality style, emotional intelligence, and attitudes regarding job satisfaction, involvement, and workplace diversity. Employers can use personality assessments to determine how employees will work in some areas (Robbins & Judge, 2007). For example, personality styles of the team were dominant and interactive; indicating that team members would be complimentary when dealing with clients. According to data outlined in the DISC Platinum Rule Behavioral Style Assessment, individuals with interactive personality styles possess skills that are influential with developing relationships to accomplish goals and are more relationship-oriented then task-oriented (Alessandra...

Reate a Positive Influence

...Every organization has specific individuals for specific jobs. These individuals have a unique characteristic that makes them stand out to the organization. My organization has assigned my team a one year project that will change the organization. In order to be successful over the course of the year a clearly defined plan will be developed and carried out that addresses differences in attitudes, emotions, personalities and values as well as increasing the teams motivation, satisfaction and performance. In any team environment success is contingent on the motivation, satisfaction and performance of the team. Each of these facets requires the other to be successful. First, in order to motivate the leader should review Maslow’s hierarchy of needs which incorporates the elements of an overall theory of motivation (Robbins & Judge, 2011). This focuses around five specific elements, physiological needs, safety needs, love needs, esteem needs and the need for self-actualization. As long as everyone on the team can relate to each element the motivation to make the project a success will be achieved. The satisfaction is achieved by the progress a motivated team makes towards the completion of the project. If the project is broken down to phases a sense of satisfaction is easily achieved every time a phase is reached. The team leader will decide the rewards, but should solicit reward suggestions from the team themselves. This ensures that the rewards are truly wanted by the...

Plan for Positive Influence

...The definition of teamwork is “work done by a number of associates with usually each doing a clearly defined portion but all subordinating personal prominence to the efficiency of the whole” (Teamwork Motivation, 2010). A team has a common goal to solve a problem and build ideas of how to solve the problem. Team C will create a plan to have positive influence and address attitudes, personalities, emotions, and values as well as positive and negative behavior in a business team environment. The assessments completed by each of our team members shows the attitudes, personalities, values and emotions are very different and show weaknesses and strengths that will be used to create a plan to positively influence a team. A process that accounts for persistence in attaining a goal, direction and a person’s intensity is known as motivation. Motivation sets a direction to help employees to do the job well and to take ownership for their performance (Teamwork Motivation, 2010). A business without motivation could suffer from employee’s failure to apply efficiency and performance. If there is no incentive’s such as financial and non-financial rewards the employee’s have no reason to perform. Examples of motivational tools are job enlargement, job rotation and job enrichment. Job satisfaction occurs when employees are content and happy to perform well for the business. Employees enjoy a challenge using their abilities, skills and mind: performance is associated with job satisfaction...

...Running head: Plan for Positive Influence Plan for Positive Influence LDR 531 - Organizational Leadership Dr. William C. Shearer August 23, 2010 In light of the recent endeavor Learning Team D has been tasked with, a plan must be developed to better ensure member retention while providing the necessary support to motivate members and nurture their continued growth and development. This paper will detail a Plan for Positive Influence that will increase team motivation, satisfaction, and performance. The first element of this plan is to implement an effective appraisal system. An effective appraisal system “provides an opportunity to set goals, clarify expectations, reinforce a job well done, initiate change, and foster a healthy working relationship between supervisor and employee” (Ditzler, 1994, para. 2). Strategic control is also enhanced with such a system. “An effective performance appraisal system assures that feedback is provided on a continuous basis, not in the form of a written annual evaluation, but in the form of daily, weekly, and monthly comments from an employee’s supervisor or manager”(Caruth & Humphreys, 2008, p.27). To promote open communication and constructive feedback, team members will have a bi- weekly one on one meeting with their immediate manager. During this meeting, manager and employee will initiate and follow-up on discussions regarding employee performance (as to what is being done well and what requires improvement), training...

Plan for Positive Influence

...Plan for Positive Influence Jake Cline-Norton LDR 531 April 2 2012 Steven Gray Plan for Positive Influence In order to succeed in today’s business environment a company needs to realize that the employees are the most important asset the company has. Employees can make a company successful or cause the company to fail. To help ensure the success of both a company and its employees a company must keep its employees motivated and satisfied to increase the productivity and performance of the employees. “We define motivation as the processes that account for an individual’s intensity, direction, and persistence of effort toward attaining a goal.5 while general motivation is concerned with effort toward any goal, we’ll narrow the focus to organizational goals in order to reflect our singular interest in work-related behavior The three key elements in our definition of motivation are intensity, direction, and persistence. Intensity describes how hard a person tries. This is the element most of us focus on when we talk about motivation. However, high intensity is unlikely to lead to favorable job-performance outcomes unless the effort is channeled in a direction that benefits the organization. Therefore, we consider the quality of effort as well as its intensity. Effort directed toward, and consistent with, the organization’s goals is the kind of effort we should be seeking. Finally, motivation has a persistence dimension. This measures how long a person can maintain effort...

It was obvious that some of the team attitudes were very much alike, such as the involvement that the team will put into our work based on mixing professionalism and personal life. In teams, no one person works or thinks alike and each member will contribute to some way or another. The assessment helped to target where an individual could best fit into a project and what weaknesses need to be developed. With different attitudes and personalities it is essential for everyone to influence the team positively. Though everyone is different there were some similarities on the assessment. One similarity that stood out was how involved we are in our work, and how hard we tried to separate our work lives from our personal lives. This type of personality can be beneficial when it comes to working on projects as a person needs to be focused and dedicated. There are many roles within a team, such as leadership which needs a person who is efficient and has structure; a second role is interacting that can help with giving ideas or one that can be able to complete different tasks.
