Positive Behavior Replacement Brittany St.Clair Grand Canyon July 9, 2013

Reinforcement is a consequence which follows a behavior, and therefore strengthens the behavior. (Wheeler, 2010) In regards to wanting to teach children a better behavior path to take, this is stating that the reinforcement given to the children are only considered such if it actually makes for better behavior decisions. Reinforcement occurs consistently in everyday life in things such as work, school, parenting, and so much more; and using reinforcement is a great start to strengthening the behavior. There is both positive reinforcement and negative reinforcement, both of which could work to the advantage of both the child as well as the educator. Positive reinforcement is a well known form of reinforcement that is often used in a classroom setting. Positive reinforcement used within the classroom is when the educator uses an activity, a behavior plan, or something that would increase the probability of the behavior to be better in the future. This can often be the best route to take when attempting to curb negative behaviors as well as to initiate more positive behaviors. One example of how to use positive reinforcement in a classroom would be a teacher giving a student options. The child can then determine what they would prefer. For example if a child has a problem with wanting to act out during class, a teacher wanting to use positive reinforcement could use options with the student. If for example the student can make it until Thursday without acting out, the student can choose whether he or she wants computer time or library time. Offering freedoms and choices as reinforcement is a great way to get children to make better choices. If there is a tangible incentive for a child to behave, then the teacher’s desired

Succession Management

...pass away or leave for other reasons. It is important for organizations to have a plan to replace these employees to ensure business continuance. Succession Management is beneficial as it ensures that a “qualified individual is ready to step into an opening in any of the key management areas” (Module 3: HR Planning and its subsets, Pg2). Organizations have values, ethics and ideas that they want to remain intact year after year regardless of who is in charge. Without a succession management program, an organization may not be able to ensure that crucial programs, services and responsibilities are carried on after an executive leaves the position. Succession planning helps develop people as they prepare for new experiences and jobs, and this development can also help improve their performance in current positions. This allows for internal promotion, thereby helping employees realize their career plans and ambitions within the organization and positively motivating them. Ensuring that there is a plan in place, and employees ready to fill key positions that become vacant will provide a smoother transition as key positions are transferred from one employee to another. Succession planning supports new organizational structures and flexibility by explicitly providing backups to various positions, thereby reducing organizational dependency on any one employee. It saves time and money by having plans already in place to enable smooth internal employee movement and continuity; therefore...

Strategic Human Resources Planning

...Succession management plans are valid in all types of businesses (corporate, family business, small business) and is critical to the effective functioning and internal alignment of an organization for retaining employees, ensuring that critical tasks are completed, and helping the organization fill vacant positions more quickly and efficiently. There are several major benefits of implementing a succession management process. First, succession management allows for an organization to respond quickly and stay on target amidst change or turmoil such as a drastic and sudden change in the economy or business cycle. For example, if a significant change in the Canadian dollar appears quickly, with an effective succession management plan in place, the company is able to take appropriate action quickly to ensure the stability of the company regardless of any external factors that could potentially take a significant toll on the organization. Secondly, by having a plan in place it creates smooth, internal transition of staff, allowing the organization to save both time and money. By putting in a succession management plan, a company will be able to support new organizational structures and flexibility by providing back up for various positions and removing stress from one particular employee, such as having a program that involves employee rotation. Fourthly, succession plans help to develop employees for new opportunities and in turn giving them the required skills to increase...

...Positive Behavior Support Plan IEP Beckie Johnson Concordia University Classroom Management for Students with Special Needs Positive Behavior Support Plan IEP The purpose of this paper is to discuss Sean Bruner’s, a Clark County School District student, positive behavior intervention support plan (BIP). Sean is a severely emotionally challenged high school student. He has had an IEP for the majority of his school years and has had a BIP ever since he transitioned into high school. The MDT’s hope is that a successful BIP will rectify all of Sean’s negative classroom behavior and allow him to show positive academic growth for the remainder of his school years. In 1997 Congress amended the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). The only approach which considered the behavioral aspect within the law was the positive behavioral interventions and supports. These interventions utilized both functional assessment and positive proactive approaches or methods to promote good behavior ("School wide," 2013). In the past students with disabilities were not included in all the available educational opportunities because of their inability to control their inappropriate behaviors. In 2004, IDEA was amended a second time due to congressional realization that positive behavior intervention support helps prevent exclusion and improve academic results ("School wide," 2013). Now, positive behavior interventions and supports promote positive school environment for all...

Impacts of an Aging Population

...on their family for support; this can put pressure on the families. A recent study showed that 600,000 disabled older people in England receive care from adult children; this number is expected to rise by 90% to 1.3 million in 2041. Elderly populations tend to group up, for example in Eastbourne where the majority of the population is elderly. This means services provided there will be less suitable for younger adults, which causes them to move away, further increasing the ratio of young-old people. Political impacts are mostly positive however, for example, crime rates are expected to decrease, as the elderly are far more law-abiding than the young are. This means that the need for a strong police force is lessened and the need for prisons is. In addition, elderly people are far less likely to give "knee-jerk" reactions to political actions; this is called the grey-vote. The economic impacts are the most extreme though, both negative and positive. The health...

Taracare, Inc.

...(1) Although Alfredo’s previous work experience as a plant manager was for a factory that manufactured replacement windows, that does not disqualify him from running a plant that manufactures outdoor furniture. Though the two products may not be similar, the processes behind it all are at some level comparable. Jorge’s ambition for Taracare was to expand from a small regional manufacturer to a much larger scale, selling to major national retailers. Being that Alfredo’s previous managerial experience was for a company that sold replacement windows to large regional and national retailers-- which falls in line with the vision Jorge has created for Taracare--making Alfredo a qualified candidate for the company’s manufacturing manager position. (2) Standing in Alfredo’s position, it is apparent that recommendations are needed to be made in order to improve the company’s delivery performance and quality. As a whole, it seems as if the company needs to establish a more developed business plan to help reach their long term goals. Communication seems to be the biggest issue. Decisions made throughout each department should be clearly communicated and made to benefit the company as a whole, rather than benefiting just one particular department while putting another at a disadvantage. By coming together and creating one cohesive plan throughout each department that distinguishes how Taracare should manage its costs and inventory to match up with attainable promotional offers will...

Goodyear Tire Case Study

...retail chains, the Goodyear brand has recorded a 3.2% decline in their market share for passenger car replacement tires in the U.S., as well as, a significant drop in their repurchased tire sales. The Answer Goodyear needs to rethink and restructure their distribution policy by creating a joint venture with the mass merchandiser, Sears. Goodyear should only consider including their Eagle brand in the new distribution arrangement with Sears; this also means that Goodyear should continue offering a wide variety of exclusive Goodyear brands in their own dealerships. Lastly, Goodyear should continue widening its promotional base into the European marketplace. The Rationale An estimated 2 million worn out Goodyear tires were replaced annually at 850 Sears Auto Centers across the United States; by creating a joint venture with Sears, Goodyear could address this issue. Because Goodyear market share is shrinking, having your brand in a mass merchandiser like Sears would help reverse this effect. By only stocking one of their brands in Sears, Goodyear could mitigate the risk of cannibalization with their own franchises. Goodyear is third in European market share, so by expanding their promotional base into popular European sporting events, they could compete more effectively with Michelin Group and Pirelli. Situational Analysis Goodyear is the market share leader in the replacement tire market, a market that accounts for roughly 70-75% of tires sold annually. Goodyear does not...

Supply and Demand

...easy entry into the market and produces a large demand from its customer base. Although there are many people who refurbish, the supply of certain replacement parts is overwhelmed by its demand, creating a deficit between the demand and quantity supplied. All successful businesses use supply and demand to determine what quantity to produce and what price to sell each unit at. Just about anything a business needs to know about profit, price, and quantity can be determined if it calculates its marginal costs and marginal revenues. Marginal cost and marginal revenue will also be used to determine what kind of profit can be expected at a given price. Increasing revenue, the mix between pricing and non-pricing strategies, minimizing costs, increasing barriers to entry, and maximizing profits, are all important decisions to make in order to produce a successful product. The Power Supply Board Parts such as the BP44-10200A and BP44-10200C are in high demand because factory manufacturers aren't producing enough replacement parts for malfunctioning TVs. Part of the reason for the unavailability of parts is the electronics manufacturer did not plan for all of the defective TVs. The lack of preparation for fixing defective TVs has provided an opportunity to enter the aftermarket and produce replacement power supplies. Producing replacement power boards would mean entering into a perfect competition market that has many buyers and sellers, the products sold are commodities, buyers and...
