Everybody has a bad day from time to time. It is hard not working and searching for a job. It gets frustrating. Your attitude is everything about you.” Your attitude soaks into everything that you do- how you walk, how you look, how you look someone in the eyes, how you respond , how you engage” (Rasmussen, 2014). Having a positive attitude brings positive things in your life. If you have a negative attitude everything tends to stay away. Work attitude is something people cannot be seen it is felt. The most important factor is a positive attitude. “Customers will respond to a positive person, conduct repeat business that they like” (Keeping the Joy, 2015). If customers are happy the will also let others know as well. “In today’s life when one is thronged with worries and tension all around, it is very difficult to maintain a positive attitude. And often the more you try and be positive, the more it seems the negative energy around you gains strength” (Singal, 2010). So there are ways to change your lifestyle to live a positive life. “Do not wait for good things to happen to you” (Singal, 2010). To get things you have to work for what you have. Things are just not going to be handed to you. “Surround yourself with positive people and your will be more positive” (Gamanche, 2009). Being around positive people, a lot of their actions have impact your lives. Never take life for granted, be thankful every day. “Be thankful about what you have, who you are, and what your life is like” (Gamanche, 2009). “Stop negative thought in its tracks” (Dewe, 2015). When you start to have a negative thought, try to change your process of thinking immediately to positive.

Character Ethic vs Personality Ethic

...personality, it is still worth noting the importance of character and realizing the profound meaning of success. The character ethic is based on attributes such as integrity, fidelity, courage, compassion, contribution, responsibility and justice. It seems that as long as people say and do the right things and package themselves in the right ways, they will be more likely to gain the results they want (Bloodgood, Tuenley, & Mudrack, 2008). In contrast, the personality ethic concentrates more on techniques than on principles. These techniques basically deal with how to take care of themselves, such as, how to look good, how to dress in particular ways, how to create the right image, how to perform in social interactions and other positive mental attitude, skills to get people to behave in certain ways (Cleek & Leonard, 2008). In other words, the personality ethic focuses on how to ‘appear to be’ rather than how to ‘actually be’ (Bloodgood et al., 2008). Indeed, some personality techniques have real merits...

Og Mandino

...eventually began writing his own motivational books and became a speaker. I believe Og's inspiration for this quote came when he was beginning to write his books on motivation. "He read hundreds of books that dealt with success, a pastime that helped him alleviate his alcoholism. It was in a library in Concord, New Hampshire, where he found W. Clement Stone's classic, Success Through a Positive Mental Attitude, a book that changed Og for the better. Og eventually became a successful writer and speaker." The countless number of books Og read is what I believe inspired him to say this quote. I believe the message of the quote is to never give less than 100% effort in life because what you do now will eventually reflect what your life is like in the future. What Og meant is that the choices we make everyday will affect us later and that is why we must always do our best, because our future is what is at stake. I relate to this quote to my school work. I must always do my best, because what I do now, will affect what college I get into, what people I meet, what job I eventually end up with. Get the hard work out of the way first. The planting is the hard part, I want to enjoy the harvest. Citation: "Intentionally Create Your...

Work – Family Conflict and Emotions: Effects at Work and at Home

...PSY 2404 2/12/2016 Article Review: Work – Family Conflict and Emotions: Effects At Work and At Home I did not like reading this article because it reminded me of times where conflicts at home have affected my performance at work. Although it is common practice to leave your problems at home while at work, it is most definitely inevitable that those thoughts of the problem at home will arise while at your place of work. While working at a sales and marketing firm called Coast 2 Coast Marketing, it was imperative for me to keep a high PMA (Positive Mental Attitude) to perform well in the sales aspect of the position. The times where I had conflicts at home or worries about things at home would definitely affect my performance at work. I was not the only one also. I would see these same patterns in my recruits (The Spartans). While they were going through conflicts at home, they were more likely to get irritated by certain tasks I would assign to them, or be somewhere else completely mentally instead of focusing on the task at hand. There was one instance where a recruit of mine felt guilty about a home situation at work (he had stolen money out of his mother’s purse due to not having enough to get to work let alone buy food etc.) and I offered to talk to him about what was bothering him. After spilling his guts to me, I offered him some money and advised him to call me or ask me before the end of the day if he needed any money so that way he does not have to steal from......

Humor at Work

...Andrea Dimofte Reaction Paper #3 Humor at Work I believe that success takes many different shapes and forms, depending on each individual and his goals. For some, success comes from wealth, for others, perhaps from family, while some may view success in terms of their jobs. I believe that we are all in search of happiness, yet that there is not set equation to achieve such happiness. If for example, a person obtains all his happiness from his job, then he may see himself as successful. I believe that both carpe diem and deferred gratification are very important skills to have in order to reach success and happiness, whatever that means for the individual person. In terms of working at a job where you are fully happy, both play an extremely important role, and I believe that have a balance of both is the key to success. Working hard, concentrating and putting effort into your work are scientifically proven to lead to improved results. Your boss may be more likely to promote you if you have been working extremely hard, rather than if you have been taking days off to do other activities you enjoy, for example traveling. Hence, deferred gratification, resisting the temptation for instant reward and waiting for long-term benefits, is important and can lead to greater success, and eventually happiness. Yet, carpe diem is also of extreme importance because, I believe, it helps you in the long run as well. Living for the moment can be manifested in many different ways for......

Theme Of Dignity In Unbroken

...Dignity is Essential for Life In the book “Unbroken”, Laura Hillenbraud introduces a theme that dignity is vital for life. Dignity is something that is not easily defined. It’s not something you can touch or necessarily look at, but you can see the strength and sense of self pride in someone who is dignified. Louie Zamperini had a lot experiences that built up his dignity and vice versa. In what seemed to be the darkest moments of his life, he didn’t allow his dignity to be stomped out. It was only when he became obsessed with revenge and hatred that he allowed his dignity slip from his hands. Louie grew up as a hard headed, rebel that was very successful in everything he did, from stealing from the neighbors to running. This built a strong foundation for Louie’s dignity. He never faced a challenge too difficult for him to bear. His family describe him as “Incapable of discouragement.” (7) Louie faced a lot of ridicule because he was an Italian immigrant but he wasn’t made weak because of it. Instead, of asking for beatings to stop, he would “stand with his hands in front of his face and take it.”(7) His strong sense of dignity followed him through his youth as he went to the Olympics. He had a sense of invincibility that pushed him in the races and in his life outside of the arena. He stole the nazi flag in front of armed guards because “He wanted a souvenir of the happy time he’d had in beautiful germany.” (37) He took pride in himself and had a strong sense of self......

Job Satisfaction

...Research paper on Worker Attitude and Job Satisfaction Published by admin at 11:14 am under Example of Research Papers Thesis Statements: Attitude and Job Satisfaction: A worker attitude towards work is directly linked to the job satisfaction; a worker who is satisfied with his job performs better and excels at what he does. It is therefore imperative for a company to understand the attitude of its workers and measure the job satisfaction of its employees, as job satisfaction is essential for productivity. Introduction Worker attitude and job satisfaction deals with how an organization behaves. It involves the management directing employees into improving organizational and personal effectiveness. It plays an enormous role in determining the attitudes of employees and their job satisfaction. When an employee is happy, it is usually because they are satisfied with their work. This also improves the quality of their work. Attitude and job satisfaction may not fall completely on the management but also on the employees. If employees enjoy their work, they will not need external motivation from management, but instead the satisfaction they attain from completing their work will motivate them (Robbins, 2004). Job satisfaction is an individual’s contentment with their work. Its effect on productivity is either positive or negative. The relationship between job satisfaction and job productivity is however not consistent. An individual may still obtain high job productivity...

The theory holds the view that all human behavior is to satisfy the self-interest (Hung-Wen & Ching-Hsiang, 2009). Actually people should strive for the maximum economic benefit and working is to obtain economic returns. For this reason, the employees’ attitude that plays the role as the inner motivation of the work will makes a great impact on the perceptions and judgments on the work (Boardman & Sundquist, 2008). It is the prime movers of Human Behavior. In the context of emerging challenges in the competitive world to survive, one has to change and change for better and the change have to be positive. "No one can persuade another to change. Each of us guards a gate of change that can only be opened from the inside. We cannot open the gate of another by argument or by emotional appeal." - Marilyn Ferguson Attitudes provide people with a basis for expressing their values. For example, a manager who believes strongly in the work ethic will tend to voice attitudes toward specific individuals or work practices as a means of reflecting this value. A supervisor who wants a subordinate to work harder might put it this way, "you have got to work harder. That's been the tradition of the organization since it was founded. It helped get us where we are today, and everyone is expected to subscribe to this ethic." - In this case attitudes serve as a basis for expressing one's central values. An individual with a negative attitude is usually hostile and......
