The Potbellied Pig is just as good a pet as a dog, they're known to be one of the smartest animals to train in your home.

Since the potbellied pig is smart and very trainable owning a own pig as a pet can be a wonderful experience. As the potbellied pig has become more popular as a pet, so has the information to care for him/her. Pigs have a lot of good qualities, which makes them very good pets. Pigs are very intelligent and learn right from wrong very quickly. Pigs are just like humans, they become dependent and confident in their owners. If pigs are taken care properly, you will have a new best friend. If shown their boundaries, you will have yourself a happy and healthy companion. Before deciding on your new pig make sure all information is up to date, pigs can live a very long time. The pig is known as one of the smartest animals to have, just as popular as a common dog. Before rushing right out and buying a pig, there are a lot of things to factor into it. Caring for a pig is just like having a new born baby. After choosing to buy a pig, it is a must to wait until they are about two to three months old. If mommy doesn’t produce milk after birth, then bottle feeding is necessary from the minute it comes out of her. The baby must have the mother’s colostrum for the first 24 hours in order for the baby to survive. If mom is not lactating then you will need to use a multi-species colostrum supplement. Just like a baby they will need to eat two to three ounces, every three to four hours. So plan on some sleepless nights. If a social ig is what is desired, proper steps will have to start immediately. Training is a must and they will learn very quickly. Do not let him/her fall into bad habits if they know they can get away with it, just like a puppy they will. Using treats are an easy and a simple training aid. Start off using a harness when

Power In Odysseus In Homer's Odyssey

...After Odysseus receives scraps from the suitors, a beggar comes up to him. The actual beggar, Arnaeus, taunts Odysseus by mocking, "This pot-bellied pig runs off at the mouth—/" (Od. 18. 31). Arnaeus is being arrogant and over confident, just like the suitors when they discuss their fake power in Odysseus's palace. This sets up a parallel between Arnaeus and the suitors that will continue to foreshadow future events. Arnaeus challenges Odysseus to a fight, believing that he will be able to defeat the elderly beggar easily. Comparatively, the one hundred and eight suitors are overly confident in their power to kill Telemachus and Odysseus. The suitors edge the beggars on by providing a prize of food for the winner. The champion of the battle...

The Bzzzt-Up In The Democratic Party

...It was election year for 2016, and things were heated up in the country. For my first year of being able to vote, I grew more aware of politics than ever before. I rallied beside like-minded peers, joined events for caucusing, and even met Bernie Sanders in person, twice. I felt like a defender on the front lines for the democratic party. I stood for the ones who could not stand, speaking on behalf of the ones who voices were not heard and fighting for the rights I believed in, a millennial soldier. Facebook was the melting pot of social media for all of the peoples opinions, beliefs and concerns during the election. It was a social mosh pit, cycling untrustworthy information viciously. The burning desire to set people straight, fueled me for combat. Early one morning, I found myself unable to get completely out of bed. Mindlessly scrolling through facebook, I came across an article about candidate Trump’s...

Garuda Purana

...The Garuda Purana This is a translation of an abridged version of the Garuda Purana. The Garuda Purana is one of the Vishnu Puranas. It is in the form of a dialog between Vishnu and Garuda, the King of Birds. The second section of this Purana (given here) deals with issues connected with death, particularly funeral rites and the metaphysics of reincarnation. Portions of the Garuda Purana are used by some Hindus as funeral liturgy. Indeed, some consider it unlucky to read this text except during funerals. Of interest are the intermediate states between birth and rebirth, which roughly correspond to the western concepts of Hell and Heaven. Since this was written during the medieval era, it is possible that the writer of this text had contact with Christianity. Earlier Hindu texts do not elaborate about 'hell' and 'heaven,' at least not to this extent, and the subject is completely absent in the oldest texts. Here, the torments of Hell are described in terms that would not be out of place in a Baptist revival tent (or Dante, for that matter). In addition, the four-square city of Yama, the God of Death, is reminiscent of the heavenly city in Revelation. However, these are way stations between incarnations (or, as termed in the Tibetan Book of the Dead, Bardos), not a permanent destination. The Garuda Purana starts with the details of the afterlife. Following this is an account of funeral procedures, including rituals, the astrological timing of the post-death observances, and ritual...

Idioms and Expression

...Idioms and Expressions by David Holmes A method for learning and remembering idioms and expressions I wrote this model as a teaching device during the time I was working in Bangkok, Thailand, as a legal editor and language consultant, with one of the Big Four Legal and Tax companies, KPMG (during my afternoon job) after teaching at the university. When I had no legal documents to edit and no individual advising to do (which was quite frequently) I would sit at my desk, (like some old character out of a Charles Dickens’ novel) and prepare language materials to be used for helping professionals who had learned English as a second language—for even up to fifteen years in school—but who were still unable to follow a movie in English, understand the World News on TV, or converse in a colloquial style, because they’d never had a chance to hear and learn common, everyday expressions such as, “It’s a done deal!” or “Drop whatever you’re doing.” Because misunderstandings of such idioms and expressions frequently caused miscommunication between our management teams and foreign clients, I was asked to try to assist. I am happy to be able to share the materials that follow, such as they are, in the hope that they may be of some use and benefit to others. The simple teaching device I used was three-fold: 1. Make a note of an idiom/expression 2. Define and explain it in understandable words (including synonyms.) 3. Give at least three sample sentences to illustrate how the expression is used...
