...Formal Visual Analysis of Yamantaka Vajrabhairava Yamantaka Vajrabhairava is a sculpture of a buffalo-headed figure with multiple heads, hands and legs. Although the creature communicates an energy which may at first seem menacing because of its face and the objects either held in its hands or stomped underfoot, when one includes the image of the peaceful man surmounting him, one will realize that it is using this energy protectively rather than aggressively. Before I prove my argument, I am going to provide a more detailed description of the sculpture. This whole object is standing straight, communicating a sense of majesty at first glance. It is raised on a table with a pedestal, but it is as wide as the arm length of a 10-year-old child and should reach an adult’s chin if resting on the ground. Because it is huge in size, viewers need to go to both of its sides in order to be able to perceive every part of it clearly, but its front is more busier than the back, meaning that it is usually seen from the front. Although covered with a layer of paint in dark blue, red and gold, this sculpture is made of wood because its wood grain is fairly visible. Besides the buffalo face, this figure has six other faces in blue, red, yellow, white, grey and black. At the very top of Yamantaka’s head is the head of a peaceful, amiable man adorned with a crown and beautiful jewelry; the body of this man is not included in this sculpture. Its 34 hands are stretching out and holding a number......

...Name Instructor Course Date Stereotypes in Mass Media Mass media has become a main source of popular culture in modern society. The media does not only entertain or feed information to the audience, but also transfers the beliefs, values and stereotypes of the society resulting to a change in the order of life in society (Wells 514). According to Althusser, families, schools and religions play a crucial role of ideological state apparatuses. Such institutions indoctrinate and transfer the ideologies of society into the minds of people in the society in order to control them. However, in modern society, the media is turning out to be yet another apparatus for controlling the minds of people. To most people, the pieces of art such as movies, magazines, documentaries and music in the media seem unique. However, all these products are no different from each other. The content in the media reflects the life of people in such a way that people would comprehend. Such a reflection occurs through reproduction of stereotypes which impacts profoundly on life in society (Wells 514). This paper examines the stereotypes mass media in more detail by considering the works of Betye Saar, the use of the concept in advertising and images in popular culture such as Aunt Jemima among others. The Liberation of Aunt Jemima Betye Saar is one of the few women who challenged the male artists’ dominance in the museum and gallery spaces in the 1970s. Some organizations......

...Analysis of Carlsberg Advertisements Cultural differences and similarities between Denmark and Great Britain Consumer Behaviour RSM353 Chernenko Kirill The following examination of British and Danish versions of printed advertisements of Carlsberg beer is to determine role of culture in advertising and compare and contrast how the same brand is advertised in different cultures. I. Danish printed advertisement The poster shows 4 men in the forest having conversation and smiling, meanwhile everyone has a bottle in a hand. The background shows the connection to wild nature: large green trees together with five fallow dears, a magpie, a fox and a pheasant. The men have been hunting, possibly, and decided to take a break. The idea is to illustrate a moment of relaxation and enjoyment of Carlsberg beer in a good company. The slogan “Vores ol brygget pa det bedste vi har” (Our beer. Brewed from the best we have) at the bottom, involves different product characteristics. The first part “Vores ol” awakes the awareness of Danes, because their traditional beer connects people in Denmark. Per contra, the final part focuses on quality of a beverage, which worth to go hunting. The image and the content of a text box creates a unified whole. The advertisement illustrates the traditional myth of drinking beer since hunting is an old tradition and according to the text box "Only 11% of the Danish hunters are hunting to hunt" which implies social interaction with friends. And,......

...English 101 11/08/15 What the Cover of Aladdin really tells us. What is the purpose of all movie covers? To grab a certain audience’s attention and make them as interested as possible in that movie so they feel a need to buy it. Disney’s covers sole purpose is to attract a younger audience. They are constantly using different symbols, colors and images that appeal to that young audience. Disney is very well known for their creations of magical worlds and faraway places that children only dream of, and they use that to their advantage by putting a those images on the covers of their movies. By doing this they are almost telling the whole story before anyone have even seen it. They use the concepts of love, adventure, and good triumphing over evil to automatically attract the eyes of young children. Disney uses these symbols and images to create those concepts so at that moment a little girl or boy who sees the cover of that movie immediately begin to beg their parents to get them that movie. In this paper I will be analyzing the movie cover of Disney’s Aladdin. To see how Disney uses their covers you have to know what story is being told. In movie Aladdin, Aladdin is poor boy who lives on the streets but dreams of living in the royal palace. One day in the market he meets a girl and who he instantly falls in love with, and shortly after finds out that she is the Princess of Agrabath. ...Short Story Wealth Over Love Once upon a time, in the far far away kingdom of Smis, there was a beautiful princess named Elizabeth. She was always satisfied with what she has. She was never sad, and is always smiling, as her kingdom is affluent, full of wealth, power, and dignity. One late evening, she heard a small noise out from the outside of her room. It was a small tiny noise she didn’t really notice at first, but it occurred again. She wondered what it was, so she walked outside to check what it was. Once she got onto her balcony, the bright moon light hit her body. She felt lighted up. The stars are sparkling like ice cubes, with the backdrop of the sky which was glowing blue. The mysterious noise repeated again, and with more distinct of frustration. It was the small sparrow under the full moon. Elizabeth stood there and kept observing the sparrow. The sparrow kept making the frustrating sound, and never got onto the branch, and keeps flying around near the tree. Her sound was sharp, long, and seems like she’s longing for someone. She sounded like she is singing to someone to come to her. The bird seem painfully isolated comparing to the fulfilled moon with it’s company of sparkling stars. Looking at the sparrow, Elizabeth felt the dryness. Then came a male sparrow. It flew up to the tree where the other sparrow was. Elizabeth couldn’t hear anymore frustrating sound from the sparrow. The two sparrows started to fly around together for a while. Then I could...

In the past, Colgate divided the world into geographic regions: Latin American, Europe, Asia, and North America. Each region had its own information systems. As long as the regions did not need to share resources or information this patchwork system worked, more or less. This all changed as global operations became more integrated and senior management needed to oversee and coordinate these operations more closely. Colgate had been a global SAPuser since the early 1990s, but it was running five separate ERP systems to serve its......

...Hamlet Final Essay What do you think makes Shakespeare’s Hamlet such a powerful and enduring play? Thesis William Shakespeare’s Hamlet (1603) explores the intrinsic aspects of humanity creating a powerful and enduring play by subverting the audiences’ expectation of a revenge tragedy play. Shakespeare enables universal anthropological appreciation through the emphasis on the thematic concerns of: the mystery and transcendental nature of death, clouded grey areas in between the dichotomy of good and evil morals, and the twisted manipulative nature of human behaviour.
