CASE:

PR MOTORCYCLES: Till We Meet Again

1. What, if any, did the president fail to do?
This is an issue of ethical management. Managing employees can be a daunting prospect. Many business owners started their businesses because they wanted to be their own boss, but what happens when there is a conflict of your interest versus the company policy – what kind of leader will you be, how will you juggle your business and the regulatory requirements of being the boss?
While great leadership is often measured by your ability to lead and mentor your employees, it’s also important to remember that as an employer and manager you are required to treat all employees equally and fairly. This is something that Mr. Pedro
Reyes failed to do when he took the responsibility that Ms. Amelia Rivera should have done as the head of the HR department. It was a gross disrespect on the part of Ms.
Rivera. Mr. Reyes could have allowed Ms. Rivera to take action on the matter as it was the latter’s responsibility.

Tata Nano : Marketing Research

...at one lakh INR. Rolled out from Tata Motors as the world’s cheapest car in the year 2009, the indigenous Tata Nano achieved immediate success, fulfilling its promises of a complete car at an affordable price for the middle class masses. The Tata’s had relied rather heavily on the publicity of their product. But rather than leveraging this publicity, Tata became complacent about the communication strategy. The USP of the product, the “cheapest” price tag, had backfired miserably, and actually shunned its sales. The status conscious customer obviously did not want to get associated with the tag of “Poor man’s car”, and would rather opt for slightly pricier rival options. Hence, instead of being perceived as a functional step above the motorcycle as it was intended to be, the Tata Nano started being largely perceived as a cut-price car. The Tata Nano was initially conceived as a safe personal mobility alternative to the huge section of the Indian two wheeler riding population, at an equally competitive price. But the safety of the car came under intense criticism when quite a few of the cars caught fire in their early days. This was followed by a call from Tata Motors to its existing customers to install safety devices in their cars. The security failure of Tata Nano completely shattered the trust of the customers in the...

...Season 1 Episode 1 Sex and the city aired "Once upon a time an English journalist came to New York. Elizabeth was attractive and bright, and right away she hooked up with one of the city's eligible bachelors. The question remains, is this a company we want to own? Tim was 42. A well-liked and respected banker, who made about two million a year. They met one evening, in typical New York fashion, at a gallery opening. Like it? Yes, actually I think it's quite interesting. What? I feel like I know you. Oh, doubtful. I just moved here from London. Really? That's my favorite city. It is? Absolutely. It was love at first sight. You know, I think perhaps I have met you somewhere before. For two weeks they snuggled... went to romantic restaurants... had wonderful sex... and shared the most intimate secrets. One day, he took her to a house he saw in the New York Times. How about if we start at the top? There are four bedrooms upstairs. Do you have any children? Not yet. That day Tim popped the question. Would you like to meet my folks Tues-day night? I'd love to. On Tuesday he called with some bad news. My mother's not feeling very well. Oh, gosh, I'm sorry. Can we take a rain check? Of course. Tell your mum I hope she feels better. When she hadn't heard from him for two weeks, she called. Tim, it's Elizabeth. That's an awfully long rain check. He said he was up to his ears and that he'd call the next day. He never did call... Bastard. She told me one day over coffee. I don't understand...
