Congratulations! You’re going to one of the most beautiful cities in the world!

In terms of area, Prague is separated into different neighborhoods by number. Prague 1 and 3 are the best. Prague 1 is the center and is next to the river, where all the historic stuff is, bars, etc. Prague 3 is popular for young people, foreigners, and bars. Look for accomodation around the metro stops Staroměstská (Old Town), Národní třída, Náměstí Míru. The Jiřího z Poděbrad (known to foreigners as JZP) area has a lot of bars and clubs that are cool, but I wouldn't stay there because you'll end up needing to use the metro a lot.
Prague is really walkable, or least it is when it's not freezing, but the metro is cheap too. I think it's best to buy single tickets because you have to use the 1 day and 3 day passes a ton for them to be worth it. (Also, remember to stamp your ticket in the machine when you get on the metro or tram. There are undercover ticket checkers. It's possible you won't see one, but when they go out and check, they are everywhere.) I would say unless it's really cold, you can walk to almost everything you want to see. I do not recommend walking all the way to the castle. If you take public transport across the river to Malá Stranait's a nice walk up to the castle. Or you can just take tram 22 to all the way to the top (the stop is called Pražský hrad).

Food and drink. If you like, you can let me know where you decide to stay and I can give you recommendations for that area. But generally, U Sudu on Vodičkova street is a cool bar. At the Big Lebowski (in the JZP area), you pay what you want for beer so that's pretty cool, but it's popular and tiny so you have to go early. Chapeau Rouge is the main club and it's right in the center. Only problem is it's in a maze of streets so it's difficult to find/leave. But because everyone knows the bar, you can just ask anybody you meet. And when you leave just ask how to get to the river, or some other landmark you know. Propaganda bar is also in the center and popular with visiting foreigners. (U Sudu is popular with Czechs and Big Lebowski is popular with Czech students and foreigners who live in Prague).

Excellent foods to try in restaurants include gulaš (pork in a dark gravy with dumplings or potato pancakes. My favorite. Everywhere has it, and it’s delicious), svíčková [na smetaně] (pork in a cream gravy with dumplings), vepřové koleno (pork knee/shoulder), bramboráky (potato pancakes), česneková polévka (garlic soup), nakládaný hermelín (pickled cheese. Sounds weird, but oh so good. It’s a soft, Czech cheese similar to Camembert, marinated in oil with peppers and spices. My favorite bar food.), řízek (schnitzel), ribs if you can find them, duck for sure...the list goes on.
And of course, you have to have a sausage (klobása) and eat fried cheese (smažený sýr) in the street. Fine as snacks, but excellent as late night food. If you’re there in winter, you have to try the mulled wine! They sell it on the street and it's so good. Perfect for cold weather drinking. It's called svařák. Things to do. Basically read the normal online lists and guides and pick what sounds interesting. I will add that Karlštejn Castle is about a 45 minute train ride away and an excellent day trip. I usually went and ate lunch at one of the many typical Czech restaurants (that’ll all have gulaš, svíčková, etc. for sure), then walked up to the castle and explored there. That is a castle worth paying to go inside if you’re interested, but even if not, it’s a great trip! In Prague, paying to visit the top of the tower at the Prague castle, or the tower in Old Town Square is well worth the $5-$10. Gorgeous views of everything in the city. I tried to go in as many of the towers in Prague as I could because it was so unique. And one more thing: Vyšehrad castle in Prague is really cool and really worth the visit. Most people visit Prague castle, so there's a lot of tourists (p.s. do visit and walk around, but don't pay to go inside, not worth it). But at Vyšehrad you can explore a castle that's actually older and has a lot fewer people walking around.

Quick pronunciation note: if you’re adventurous and want to use Czech names when ordering food, or you need to tell a cab driver where to go, or read a road sign, here are the basic pronunciations.

c = ts č = ch ě = yeh i = ee j = y š = sh ž = g as in genre

ř = SO hard. Even Czech kids can’t say it. Just pretend it’s a rolled r.

Manila Walk Tour

...WALK TOUR REACTION PAPER Last, Monday, September 21, 2015, we had our "Food" walk tour in Binondo with Mr. Ivan Dy. The tour was very tiring and at the same time stomach filling. It was tiring because the weather was so hot and we just walked to go to our destination. It was stomach filling because we went to 5 destinations and just ate chinese foods the entire tour. The foods were delicious. Mr. Ivan is a fun and entertaining tour guide. Even though he had mic, we werent able to understand some of what he’s saying. He wasn’t able to catch all the attention of the students. Last Sunday, September 27, 2015, we had our Intramuros tour with Mr. Carlos Celdran. The tour last for about 3 hours. It was called a walk tour but there really is not much walking. We went to 4 destinations and sit down to listen to him. The tour was tiring and at the same time interesting. It was tiring because the weather was kind of hot and there are many of us and it was interesting because Mr. Carlos Celdran made the tour very entertaining with his props, the changed of hats and the throwing of santan from his pocket. From the way he delivers, it looks like we were just watching a play. Every time he says the line “Walk This Way!” it excites everyone and follows him and you can see a smile on everyone’s faces. It was one of the reasons why the tour was exciting. He even gave all of us a chocolate, to be specific choc nut, for answering his question. I noticed that almost all the people who belong to...

This report will focus on visiting and experiencing an organized tourism program of the Peranakan Museum as a participant and be able to create critical consciousness as well as to use chosen concepts and theories to evaluate the helpfulness of the tour guide after the visit. The best and most inclusive assortments of Peranakan objects are owned by the museum. ...on a journey through time. Upon arrival we were instructed to walk up a spiraling white staircase, the walls lined with black and white portraits of holocaust survivors, leading all the way up to the Anne Frank exhibit. We were prompted with a brief introductory film on the Frank family then directed downstairs into a dimly lit hallway. Immediately, I am drawn to the walls that’re constructed with clothing. As you go further into the exhibit, going deeper into Anne’s story, the clothes gradually become dull and drab, then shifting into prisoner uniforms, and ultimately ending with all black clothing. The clothing served as a representation of the drastic changes that occurred in response to the war. The exhibit is a voice and light guided tour, with the voice reading excerpts from Anne’s diary accompanying the several photographs, artifacts, and information posted along the walls. The voice leads us through a door (which was an exact replica of the bookcase that enclosed the Annex) into a small theatre which showed a film that captured Anne’s uniquely positive view on the world within her confined circumstances. After the Anne Frank exhibit we stumbled upon one of the newest exhibits which featured the diverse lives of Maya Angelou, Billy Crystal, and Carlos Santana. Returning back to the first floor, we then walked through an exhibit called Our World Today. The area is filled with screens showing various different news reports, ultimately leading to 2 doorways, one labeled “prejudiced”...

Tennents

...5-minute walk from the university. This was a guided tour of the Brewery, which provided an insight into the history of the company as well as a detailed description as to how the Lager was made. It was clear that the service attracted a middle age tourist clientele due to the high volume of foreign consumers on the tour we partook in. The experience intended to provide customers with an understanding of the full brewing-to- bottling process of Scotland’s “favorite beer”, and the evolution of Tennents over the company’s timeline. On arrival, staff were friendly, well dressed and approachable, which contributed to a relaxed environment. The setting of the meeting room was busy and kept the consumer’s mind occupied whilst they waited for the tour to begin. This helped detract from the issue of the tour starting later than the proposed time. With a contemporary design, the room was appealing to the consumer aesthetically and helped build a positive insight as to the quality which could be expected from the tour. A successful blueprint of the service was clear as both customer A and B knew what part they played during the encounter. Such factors included marking yellow pathways on the roads between buildings for the customer to stay within for their safety as well as providing hair nets and high vis vests for health and safety. A leader follower relationship was adopted in this tour, meaning that the consumer relied on the guide largely for the encounter to be a success. In the...

...researchers obtained the information about Tour Guiding in Cavite: Prospects and Challenges. Upon examining the profile of the participants, the researchers found out that majority of the respondents were 20-29 years old since the percentage of them is 57.14. It implies that 20-29 years old were the most active age group who conduct Tour guiding services in Cavite . They were at the highest rank because they're knowledge and skills are still fresh from their training and their physical attributes can give more strength for them to do the job. On the other hand, ages below 19 and between 40-49 got a percentage of 2.86 and ranked as the lowest, showing that they were the less active age group in conducting tour guiding services. ...Art Museum”, or the “Anytown Museum of Natural History”. While these types of museums house some incredible artifacts, and I do visit them often, I also like to seek out museums of a more unusual sort. Museums are mostly the same just about everywhere you go, both in the United States and Europe. They offer the visitor a glimpse into the past culture of any given city or country by displaying relics found throughout the world. But there are also many museums that showcase artifacts of the culture in a much more specific way. Some fine examples of these kinds of museums include the Pez Museum, close to San Francisco, dedicated to the little candy dispenser, the Muzeum hracek in Prague, dedicated to toys of the world, both past and present, the Dungeon, a history of Medieval torture, also in Prague, and the Liberace Museum in Las Vegas, dedicated to all things Liberace--and I mean all things. The Pez Museum is not actually in San Francisco, but is located south of the city in a town called Burlingame. If you are in the Bay Area for any reason, do not miss this museum! Remember when you were a little kid, and you loved to collect Pez dispensers? Well, times have changed, and now Pez collections mean big money, and big business. The most expensive Pez dispenser to date is the short lived Mr. Potato Head dispenser, complete with a make-it-yourself face. This Pezsells for $5,000 at auction! This museum contains literally hundreds of Pez Dispensers, collected since their inception...
