According to the article titled “Routine ABO and RH Typing: An Introduction”, Phillip Levine and R.E. Stetson were the first scientists to discover the rhesus blood groups in 1939. Soon after their amazing discovery, Karl Landsteiner and A.S. Weiner discovered the ABO blood typing system in the late 1940’s, which ultimately lead to discovery of the Rh differences. Several medical studies and journals have concluded that the father is the basis of all fetal blood typing. The problem arises when the father’s blood type is positive and the mother’s blood type is negative, thus causes a condition called Rhesus (RH) Incompatibility or the RH Incompatibility Disease. ...10-Minute Mindfulness, a book authored by S. J. Scott and Barrie Davenport. I chose this book for my assigned book review because after reading the first page, it had described my life exactly. The book begins with a description of a typical morning for what I believe many people can relate. For example, getting out of bed after hitting snooze on the alarm, followed by a morning routine of a quick shower. Next, getting dressed while your mind is running over what happened yesterday or perhaps what may happen today. Then, preparing coffee and grabbing a bite to eat for the road while you catch a couple of the morning news headlines. Finally, out the door and on your way to work with a frazzled mind. According to Scott & Davenport (2017), this scenario describes a type of unconscious living which occurs due to a constant cycle of reactivity, distraction, and stress. They explain many individuals are unable to enjoy the present due to technology’s ability to batter our mind with constant information. “Our cellphones, laptops, and tablets, have become weapons of mass distraction, pulling us further and further from the only place of real peace and happiness – the present moment” (Scott & Davenport, 2017, p. 10). Karlin The model of nurse-patient transaction from King’s Theory of Goal Attainment was employed to explore the impact of the nurse-patient transaction as it relates to primiparous patient satisfaction with the childbirth process. In this descriptive study, intrapartum nurses were interviewed regarding their perception of primiparous patient’s childbirth experience. The interviews were reflected upon to develop a better understanding of the impact of the nurse-patient transaction on achieving patient satisfaction with coping strategies. The findings revealed that although only one-half of the patients had participated in formal childbirth classes, effective nurse-patient transactions were successful in goal attainment of satisfaction with coping strategies in labor and delivery.
