Looking at the two lists, do you think that there is a relationship between the two? That is, does a strength/performance in one list contribute to a better result for a similar factor in the other list? (Example, a strong brand can be built by social media, yet strong brands will generally have a greater social media presence and uptake.) Yes, I imagine that there is a relationship between the two records. According to my perspective I surmise that is does quality in one rundown add to a superior result for a comparable...

Topic 6 Journal Entry: Priorities

...have had is re-organizing my agenda to be able to assign time for class work. I am forfeiting a little bit of time in those two departments to make time for school. Deciding priorities is done so in a manner of importance. I make a mental list of things I need to complete ranging from top priority to not so important. For instance I rate grocery shopping higher on the list than getting my nails done, or paying rent supersedes paying for college books. Some decisions are more difficult than others but if I can identify its importance I can place it in my mental list. Prioritizing school is as simple as making a plan, rating it in my mental list, and then doing the task. If I implement what I just mentioned school will be a breeze with limited sacrifice and stress. This will result in a higher GPA and will have a "snowball" effect and motivate me to continue to improve as a student.  This topic was one that I needed to revisit. I have gone on with my life in a hectic manner and needed to be reminded of the fundamentals of priorities and how that translates into success. My main take away from this topic is obvious but still vital. I will rate events in my head then find an accurate place to put them on my mental list. I think if I can do...

...altered just by simple suggestion. I practiced this experiment on my wife and seven children. Every person circled the word “snow” no matter what list they studied from. I considered the possibility that their thoughts were about the weather due to the rain and cold temperatures from that day. I decided to wait a few days before trying the experiment on the actual volunteers, eager for improved weather conditions. Our local church was having a meeting with many of its members. I waited for the meeting to finish and asked if four people would be willing to volunteer to participate in a research project. I asked the four volunteers to have a seat and patiently to do this experiment one person at a time. I brought the first volunteer into a separate room and explained the consent form and informed them that this was a simple memory test and there would be no harm to them, however there may be some slight deception. I also expressed their answers and identity will remain confident. The volunteers were informed the experiment would only take about five minutes of their time and if they still willing to participate we can get started. I gave the person the list to study and informed them they would have one minute to study the list before moving on to the second stage. I set a timer for one minute. Once done, I removed the list and handed them the math page and informed them that there is no right or wrong answers and to do their best to answer and...

...his anticipation of being done with it all—professors, exams, problem sets, grades, group meetings, all-nighters . . . The list could go on and on. The fear stems from the fact that he is graduating in December and has only four months to find a job. Brent is a little unsure about how he should approach the job search. During his sophomore and junior years, he had certainly heard seniors talking about their strategies for finding the perfect job, and he knows that he should first visit the Campus Career Planning Center to devise a search plan. On September 1, the first day of school, he walks through the doors of the Campus Career PlanningCenter and meets Elizabeth Merryweather, a recent graduate overflowing with energy and comforting smiles. Brent explains to Elizabeth that since he is graduating in December and plans to begin work in January, he wants to leave all of November and December open for interviews. Such a plan means that by October 31 he has to have all his preliminary materials, such as cover letters and résumés, submitted to the companies where he wants to work. Elizabeth recognizes that Brent has to follow a very tight schedule, if he wants to meet his goal within the next 60 days. She suggests that the two of them sit down together and decide the major milestones that need to be completed in the job search process. Elizabeth and Brent list the 19 major milestones. For each of the 19 milestones, they identify the other milestones that must be accomplished directly...

Phenomenological Paper

...of cards came and the list of the top students were posted. I was listed as Top 1. The teachers said they weren’t surprised by the result because they already have expected me to top it. I became so happy with the result. Everyone complimented me even my parents boasts their relatives about my grades. Air went inside my head. I became popular instantly. The “badboy” group acknowledge me and they wanted to be friends with me. I said without a doubt, Yes ! I wanted to be in their group because they are cool. We played DotA everyday after class. We played pranks and hangout every free time. The 2nd periodic examination had passed. The giving of cards arrived. I went to look at the list of the top students top to bottom but I can’t find my name there. I was confused. Then I realized that I got kicked out from the list because of my grades. The first thing that got in to me was embarrassment. Everyone expected me to “dominate” our batch yet my name can’t be found on the list. I felt very sad because I disappointed them. Then I began to feel scared. How will I ever report this to my parents. They have high regards and standards of me ever since I got a high grade when I was little. I became angry of my “buddies”. I blamed them for what had happen to me. After my confrontation with my parents especially with my mother. I felt guilty, after all it is my fault. It is my own doings of what I become. For me the real reason why I got kicked out from the list was I became irresponsible...

My Happy Moment

...Prakriti Khanal Mr. Andrew Young ENG 111 1/24/2014 “Memories play a confusing role. They make me laugh when I remember the time I cried together! But make me cry when I remember the time I laughed together. They too can make me mad but, for sure, no matter what emotion they carry, they all share a place deep in my heart.” Every moment, when I recall them in my mind, they appear to be fresh. I cannot make myself believe that I already passed those times and will never be in the same time again. A chill runs down my spine awaking all my senses till date when I remember them. I especially remember the time when I was able to make my whole family proud of me. That was the time when I saw my own future as I had wished that to be. Every time I think of it, it takes me on a voyage of happy moments. In my whole life; it is uncountable how many happy moments that I’ve gone through since I was small. Happy moments are something that made us very happy and it is unforgettable. It will never be erased out of our mind and we will always remind of it for the rest of our life. It might happen daily, weekly, monthly and even annually but it really happened. It makes us smile to the ears and sometimes it tears us down. I just can’t imagine how it feels if we don’t experienced all those happy moments. I was staring at the stars shining in the sky. The city was dark due to the scheduled power outage. People in city were in their mid-sleep but I was standing...

Procrastination

...work on because it does not seem as important as other issues. I choose to write on this topic for this very reason. If I do not work on it I will continue to procrastinate and this issue will not be addressed. Procrastination is also hindering my school and work performance to a fault in that my grades and work performance could be much better if I just completed assignments diligently and on time. This is also an issue of organization for me because when I do not do things on time then assignments and deadlines pile up. When I decided to deal with my procrastination I did not realize how difficult and demanding it would be. For example I had to make a list of all the things I needed to get done that day and the list was long, but the tough part was when I finished with the items on the list it was again time to make another list, and so on and so forth. So the process, at the beginning, was very overwhelming. However, having a schedule prevented things like homework and work deadlines from piling up and leading to reduced performance. For this project I picked up the self-help book The Procrastinator’s Handbook by Rita Emmett which not only discusses methods to reduce procrastination but also gives a deeper explanation for why we procrastinate. The first point Emmitt stresses is what she calls “tackling the dread” which essentially means understanding why we procrastinate. For most people procrastination happens more often when doing chores or assignments that we do not like...
