Problem Solving Paper

...Problem Solving Essay Common Problems in College Attending college for the first time can be an exciting experience in the life of a student. On the other side, being new to a college may be a frustrating experience for many students. Most college students face a lot of problems, due to the fact that college time is a time of adaptation and adjusting in your life. Students are encouraged to make some changes to their lifestyle in order to be successful and complete the career of their dreams. One of the main problems that a student faces is balancing study time with personal life. Succeeding at different activities is often stressful and difficult. Enrolling in a large number of credit hours, combined with tasks at work and family responsibilities will result into hectic environments. Failure to successfully perform these activities can leave a person feeling hopeless and in many cases depressed. The best solution to this problem would be learning to balance study time with personal life, along with developing effective time management and organizational skills. Financial problems are also common among students during college. The inability to maintain an organized financial situation will bring disastrous consequences to the credit life of a student. College Stress

... Stress: In Collegiate Student Athletes Most students who graduate high school go on to continue their education at a College or University. Students who are talented enough also play at sport at their college. With the overwhelming workload that student athletes face in college, along with their commitment to sports can cause an immense amount of stress in their life. Stress is an emotional or mental strain put on the body and mind from demanding circumstances. As opposed to the traditional college student, student athletes have more pressure on them. About 400,000 student athletes participate in athletic games each year, and thousands receive scholarships to do so (Stern). Setting aside the stress that every student already faces when transitioning from high school to college, being a collegiate athlete on top of that just makes it more difficult. Stress is so powerful, it can become the sole thing that can cause an athlete to quit their sport, causing them to lose their scholarship or even drop out of school. Several occasions an athlete’s performance is negatively affected by the stress that is put on them. Being relied on heavily by their school, parents’ expectations to succeed in school, and by coaches and teammates to perform well in their sport, can be too much on a student athlete. ...universities and colleges. Since the students debt is higher than ever and graduates can’t find a good paying jobs in the market. Why do higher education such as colleges becoming expensive for students? Some students in college or university are facing financial woes including myself because of limited funds for the school year. We as students are facing some tough difficulties when it comes to pursuing the degree we want to get. Colleges and universities are becoming expensive and more students are going to the third options because of finance problems and we should try to work something out about these higher tuition rates cause some drop outs and low enrollments for some colleges and universities. According to a search done by Peter Cohen, “The lack of difference in value between state schools and the more prestigious private colleges is compelling. A private college - including tuition, room and board - costs about $50,000 a year, compared to half that price for a state school. But according to a study cited by The New York Times, the average lifetime incomes of comparably talented graduates of public and private institutions are about the same for most students - in terms of financial value, it's hard to justify the tuition difference” (Cohan). This means that private or prestigious colleges are even more expensive than a regular private or public university and this leaves a questions in the mind of a high school graduate who had high hopes of going to a certain college or university...

Online College: the Better Way to Education

...Online College: The Better Way to Higher Education Ollie St Jules Devry University The Need and Want for Online Schools With all the things going on in an adult’s life, school should not make it more complicated. However the longer the person waits to attend college the harder it seems to work into their daily lives. This is where I believe online learning comes into play. Choosing a college is never easy, but before you pick the specific school you want to attend, you must first decide whether you want to pursue an education at an online university or a traditional college. Online education like everything else has its pros and cons. I’m not saying that online courses are for everyone but they are very beneficial in my life. With me being a full time parent and employee I find that online education is the best solution for continuing your education on your terms. Online education has many benefits that lead me to recommend this option to you. It has been shown to have better success rates, it’s convenient and flexible, it cost less to attend, and it also opens you to the new technologies that are being used in nearly every occupation. One of the top reasons I would recommend online learning would have to be the success rate that is garnering. Beginning around 2000, several studies, including meta-studies (review and analysis of hundreds of studies selected for their rigor), began to find significant differences in favor of online learning. These studies culminated...
