The manufacturing company, I used to work for Auth-Florence, located in Manhattan, Kansas is a manufacturing company that makes the United States mailboxes for the postal service and for the residential places. Working for the company was a major change for me since it was my first civilian job. Transitioning into the civilian work force was my first step in ensuring that I prove myself and to the company that I am capable to lead.

I was hired as a Machinist Operator for the fabrication department. My responsibilities were very limited since I was just a machinist operator. I would be assigned my task for the day and I would just make the parts on that specific machine. My goal with the company was to learn as much as I can and prove to them that I am a quick learner, have the ability to lead. I was promoted to Team Leader after three months of employment with the company. My responsibilities changed with the promotion. My responsibilities consisted of training employees on the proper procedures on various machines, assigned jobs to the employees, enter end of day activities.

Moving up the ladder within the company was not an easy task for me; it was a lot of hard work, overtime, proving that I really want to learn the inside and outside of the company. After a year I was giving the chance to prove myself again and I was placed in charge of the weld cell department. My goal was to make sure that the employees learn from my skills, and motivate them, increase the efficiency for the department, learn from the employee since it was a new product for me. The first two months showed a major improvement in the monthly efficiency for the department, the quality of the product improved, the flow of getting the product done, cleanliness of the department. I was able to make a major improvement and I was promoted to supervisor.
