Professional regulation is something very important in healthcare. Patients entrust medical professionals to be responsible for their well being and to treat then to keep them healthy for prolonged life. In order to make sure that professionals uphold the standards and obligations they are supposed they are regulated constantly to make sure that they are conducting themselves appropriately. Amongst the many health professionals a Pharmacist has one of the most important jobs in the healthcare industry. They hold the very huge responsibility of compounding and dispensing medication to patients. Pharmacist can be placed anywhere from hospitals to small pharmacies located in neighborhoods. Their jobs require huge responsibility and ability to uphold many protocols and it is very important on what patients take. What made me think of a Pharmacist first is because New York state has a raging issue with people addicted to narcotics. When the prescription abuse is traced back they often find that someone had a friend who was able to get the drug from a Pharmacist. This would be an example of professional misconduct for a Pharmacist. They often fall victim to this taking extra money on the side to dispense narcotic drugs to people who haven’t been prescribed them. This happens often especially since in the state of New York some many feel that as a healthcare worker they are underpaid for the services that they provide. Often some drug users usually have a lot of money which makes it easy to persuade someone in a pharmacy to take monetary gifts in exchange for medication. This however all falls under the category of misconduct.

In New York State misconduct is regulating by the New York State Education Department. They have a specific area called

Per the American Medical Association (AMA),” the process of obtaining a medical license--either initial licensure or a second or subsequent license in another state--can be a challenging process” (American Medical Association, 2014). The state statutes can be more complicated, but they ensure that professionals are properly prepared to perform health care services for a specific community. In Delaware there are state laws that are followed by state regulatory agency. The Registrar’s office which is part of Delaware’s General Assemble is responsible for the Administrative Code of Regulations and the Delaware On-line Statutory Code. This office is also the official repository of all regulations for the State of Delaware. Professional Regulation and Criminal Liability

...Professional Regulation and Criminal Liability July 16, 2015 HCS/430 Professional Regulation and Criminal Liability: Pharmacists A profession is “an occupation based on the mastery of a complex body of knowledge and skills. It is a vocation in which the practice of an art is used in the services of others” (Schmitz & Martin, 2008, p. 1). Belonging to a certain profession requires one to agree to demonstrate integrity, selflessness, competency as well as morality. This becomes the foundation on which the medical profession gets autonomy of practice from the society and a chance to experience self-regulation. Pharmacy is one of the medical professions whose practitioners help people to utilize medications to the best. It is notable that since professionals own specialized knowledge which the client does not have, the possibility of the professional exploiting the client exists. It is however important to note that such exploitation leads to very severe consequences since it has violated the guiding regulations for pharmacists. While executing the duties of a pharmacist, it is possible to make mistakes that have serious consequences. There are a number of ways in which professional misconduct among pharmacists can be handled. The Board of Pharmacy may take action against the pharmacists where a hearing is made before any disciplinary action is taken. The violation of regulations may also be presented before a civil court or before a criminal court. In case of a compliant...

Commenting on Administrative Regulation Proposals

...1. The administrative agencies that control this regulation: The Department of Defense, the General Services Administration, and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and subsequently, the Small Business Administration. This regulation would affect me as a small business owner because it would change the way all levels of government do business with privately -held small businesses, such as mine. 2. This is a proposal to amend the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) to include government-wide, standardized past performance evaluation factors and ratings categories, and that this past performance information be entered into the Contractor Performance Assessment Reporting System (CPARS). 3. My comment: While I concur that the FAR should be amended in this way, I believe that the current proposal is too vague to be effective. Standardizations tend to group things into categories that are either “black” or “white”, causing a great injustice to those who would only fit in areas of “gray”. Therefore, I suggest a thorough investigation into the actual effects that the proposal would have on all businesses- large and small, experienced and novel, old and new, etc. I also believe this proposal should not be enacted until real evidence, showing complete equality and fairness among all businesses, is presented to and reviewed by the public. 4. This expires on November 5, 2012 5. A. Based on the Administrative Procedure Act of 1946, if I choose, I would...

Should Minors Who Commit Violent Crimes Be Sentenced as Adults?

...Assignment 1: Research Topics with Explanation Krista Reynolds Professor Eric Thompson English 215 April 15, 2014 Topic 1: Should regulations for homeschools be changed? I have chosen this topic because our children’s future lies within the regulations. My audience for this paper will be Professor Eric Thompson and my peers. Education is cornerstone to a person’s future in today’s society. Each and every American (including our children) has the basic civil rights. One of those rights is the right to an equal education. By not enforcing regulations on homeschooling are the rights of the child being violated? While some states regulate homeschool parents by requiring the parent to obtain a state teaching certification, there are still many that don’t require any regulation. Without regulation of schools, whether they be public, private or in the home, we are risking our risking our future to a generation that has little adaptability to our ever changing society. Credible sources expected to use: (Kreager, 2010); (Waddell, 2010) Topic 2: Should minors who commit violent crimes be tried as adults? I have chosen this topic because it holds the future of our children and the future of our country within its laws and courtrooms. The audience for this paper will be Professor Eric Thompson and peers. By treating our children as adults for crimes they commit are we holding them accountable or are we creating “super-predators” out of our troubled youth? Not only...
