Pros And Cons Of Annual Year Sessions

I believe that we should have an annual year sessions as opposed to the biennial year sessions. Texas Legislature can get more done if they meet annually rather than biennially. One hundred forty days is not enough interval to discourse some of the essential issues that Texas has. Legislatures cannot function efficiently meeting in the odd year biennial sessions. They cannot make budget decisions, and they cannot deal adequately with complex and continuing problems facing their states. Education, water conservation, unemployment, and the Texas boarders are just to name some of the concerns that Texas faces. An extended session could be beneficial.
Another motive for meeting annually is that it would allow the Legislature to attend to their

Aca- Affordable Care Act

...According to this article, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) released an updated federal budget outlook for the next 10 year “budget window”, during the week of February 3rd, 2015. Detailed in this report were some revisions to the previous baseline projection for the effects of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). A more defined explanation and history of ACA: Federal health reform uses an approach that starts with the health insurance system we currently have in place in the United States. Health reform builds upon our current health insurance system to provide more people with access to health insurance coverage, establish legal protections for consumers, and set up mechanisms for consumers to shop knowledgeably for insurance. On July 14, 2009, House Democratic leaders introduced a 1,000-page plan for overhauling the US health care system, which Obama wanted Congress to approve by the end of the year. After much public debate during the Congressional summer recess of 2009, Obama delivered a speech to a joint session of Congress where he addressed concerns over his administration's proposals. In March 2010, Obama gave several speeches across the country to argue for the passage of health care reform.   After Obama announced an executive order reinforcing the current law against spending federal funds for elective abortion services, the House passed the version of the bill previously passed on December 24, 2009, by a 60-vote supermajority in the Senate. The bill, which includes...

President Cordova assigned the task of designing the plan and writing a memo to the Director of Personnel, Richard Sasche. The company was accustomed to the traditional work hours. The rush hour in the morning and evening period had always caused problems amongst the work force. The memo about the Flex Time plan was suggested to be posted for all employees to see. The memo informed workers about the plan and its guidelines. The Digital Display team was headed by Jim Hallora, who was the project coordinator. Jim worked at the firm for 27 years and is considered conservative with his thought and unsociable yet very argumentative whenever his mandates are criticized. He always exerts much authority over his workers. The Flex Time program is implemented and Jim disagrees and writes his own memo to be able to control and supervise his men. Capital Budgeting Too Hot to Handle

...Case 16: Capital Budgeting Too Hot To Handle! When Patsy opened her full service salon and day spa three years ago, she knew that she would have to make some difficult choices regarding the hiring and firing of qualified professionals such as cosmetologists, estheticians, nail technicians and massage therapists. However, she was confident that her salon management training at Chic University coupled with her industry experience as a stylist would serve her well. And serve her well they certainly did! Within three years of starting her own business, and after a few setbacks, she had managed to assemble a team of 10 salon professionals who were all extremely motivated, people-oriented, and driven individuals who worked hard at retaining their clients and drumming up retail sales. Of course, Patsy had put in place an incentive plan, which the stylists found to be challenging, yet lucrative. Patsy’s salon revenues had grown significantly each year to their current annual level of $500,000. On average, the salon serviced about 40 customers per day with an average ticket of $50. However, over the past year or so a number of new salons and nail spas had opened up in the city. Competition had become much more severe and customers were being swayed by numerous discount coupons. Patsy was well aware that her current sales growth rate of 10% would not continue for very long. At the suggestion of some of her regular clients, she decided to explore the possibility of expanding...

The report includes a current situational assessment, quantitative and qualitative analysis of the strategic alternatives as well as recommendations on best course of actions. Four Functions of Management

...Running head: WEEK ONE - FOUR FUNCTIONS OF MANAGEMENT Week One - Four Functions of Management Saya Narvaza University of Phoenix Week One - Four Functions of Management In order for a company to advance in the marketplace today, they need to be innovative, have quality products, the speed to develop and market their products quickly and be cost competitive (Bateman & Snell, 2007). A good manager will need to make decisions swiftly, have good communication skills and know how to deliver these things both effectively and efficiently (Rodacker, 2006). Four functions of management include: planning, organizing, leading and controlling. These are the fundamentals needed to establish a company and keep them on top. Planning consists of making decisions about the goals each person, department or the entire company wants to achieve and setting in motion a process in which these goals can be fulfilled. Activities include analyzing the past, present and future growth of the company, what types of transactions or market the company will engage in, and determining objectives and business strategies. Modern day managers are now utilizing their employees, customers, suppliers and other vendors to help identify opportunities to strengthen their competitive advantage. Delivering more value to the customer is usually the driving force to make these changes. Organizing is the coordination of assembling people, finances, physical, informational...

...Functions of Management Pierre’ Daniels University of Phoenix March 14, 2011 As defined by Bateman & Snell (2009), the art of management is “the process of working with people and resources to accomplish organizational goals.” Understanding the goals of management given the four functions of management is one of the foundations to ensure success as a manager. Although management positions change hands while organizations continue to grow and develop, the fundamentals of management remain the same. The four functions of management include, 1. Planning 2. Organizing 3. Leading 4. Controlling. 1. Planning The first function in management is planning. According to McNamara (2008), examples of planning include: “strategic planning, business planning, project planning, staffing planning, advertising and promotions planning.” During the planning stage, management must first develop specific goals for the organization to achieve. Having set goals will ultimately keep an organization focused on mission accomplishment by knowing what they are working for. In addition to setting the goals for an organization, management must also consider in advance the necessary steps and resources required to achieve these goals. In order to properly plan out and take steps in the execution of organizational goals, one must consider the current and future objectives of the organization while developing strategies to overcome any obstacles that may arise. We were ahead of the game as far as technology and what it has to offer. Many events, both economical and organizational occurred over the past few decades. These events were not positive in all cases. We have now found ourselves behind the times – very behind. Not only had our largest competitors replaced or enhanced their core business systems, our customers and suppliers were in process or completed the same. This left us in a very unfavorable light for competitive advantage or futuristic growth in the technology realm. This brings us to the current need to look hard at the existing mainframe legacy business systems that are in place today. The project proposal outlined in this paper and presentation has been dubbed the Business System Replacement or BSR. The need is outlined as looking for the replacement of these existing disparate systems that have become outdated and unsupported. We are looking at Business Process Enhancements which include such elements as significantly improved inventory management and control, improved controls surrounding financial reporting, real-time reporting and visibility of information and reduced reliance on manually generated databases and reporting. Experiences

...Valuing Life 10/3/2012 By: Lisa Graham-Jones Instructor: Professor Wright Or Life is precious and shaped by many different experiences along the way. What if you were unable to experience this thing we call life? If the hands could turn back time and your mother decided not to let you live, but instead destroy your life before being able to experience the world we know of today? Many bypass this thought process when considering abortion. Women instead think of themselves and their situation when debating the option of abortion. Life is valuable period. Regardless of whether there are good outcomes of abortion, or negative outcomes of abortion, I am against abortion. Regardless of what is going on in life, women know that the only way to not get pregnant is through the choice of abstinence, but they still choose to have sex. With this being a problem it makes abortion look really evil due to careless and selfish choices that women are making today. Abortion has been overthrown and battled in many courts with different cases and the procedure of abortion has granted because the right of the constitution protects the choices that women make with the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendment. The constitution protects the rights of women in many different ways including the choice of what women want to do with their bodies. These three amendments make abortion legal and create a bigger problem of diminishing this evil operation for the fact that abortion has been approved by judges...
