Phobias & Addictions Paper

...Xonepro Xonepro PSY/300 PSY/300 Phobias & Addictions Week 2 Individual Assignment Phobias & Addictions Week 2 Individual Assignment Explore how phobias can be developed through classical conditioning. In doing some research on the topic of classical conditioning, I have come to learn that it is a way of training so to speak, where a conditioned response is learned through conditioning the individual, be it animal or human. Basically, one learns that if you do this one action, another will follow in response; a reaction to one’s action. This reaction can be either a reward or a punishment. For instance, you train a dog to do a trick such as, shake hands or roll over. You do this while holding a treat to entice the animal to do said trick. Once the trick is done, the pet then reaps the reward. After doing this many times, the pet then knows that if it does this trick, it will get a treat. Now in the case of classical conditioned phobias in humans, perhaps one of the most common is the fear of spiders, also known as arachnophobia. This is more of a natural happening as one perhaps is bitten or is woken at night with a spider crawling on them. We are told that spiders bite and they are poisonous which creates a natural fear of them and the way they look does not help either. I think even more interesting than people fearing them are the people that do not fear spiders. Another phobia would be that of glossophobia, which is the fear of public speaking or speech...

Psy/240 Week Three Checkpoint

...Week Three Checkpoint: Interactionism Rebecca J. Castle PSY/ 230 10/14/2011 Julie Ball, MS Ed Week Three Checkpoint: Interactionism A person’s culture is going to have a lot to do with how their personality is shaped. Someone that has grown up in a home with constant fighting and hostility is going to have a guarded personality and may be either hostile or very anxious. On the other hand, someone that has been raised in a home of cooperation and love will have a higher chance of being and extroverted person and more easy going. Growing and observing another’s behaviors has a huge impact on how our personality will turn out. We learn by not only trial and error but also by observing others, which will carry over into how we do and handle things. Personalities begin to develop at a young age and then carry into adulthood. Once someone is labeled with a specific personality trait, it is hard to lose that label. How that label affects their lives depends on the type of label. For instance, a young man that has been labeled as being disagreeable may find it hard to make friends because they have already decided that he will be hard to get along with. On the other end of the spectrum, a young man labeled as conscientious and agreeable may acquire many friendships as well as better opportunities. Labels can be both helpful and harmful. A person is not born knowing how to handle a social experience; therefore I feel that social experiences are what shape a person’s...

Learning Team Paper

...Learning team paper PSY/300 1) what are the teams ground rules and guidelines: my expectation for the team members is to first respect, each other we are adults, and be kind to one another nobody knows what the other person is going through, is that having a rough week or if they have a special child, try to communicate as soon as you get text from any of the team members, is by communication that you can show that you are here pulling your weight and nobody has to worry about doing anybody else’s work. 2) Expectation for time management and involvement: I would think that it will go without saying that each and every person, on our team contributes they share of the work that’s is to be done, and for it to be on time so at least one person can review it, edit it, and then produce the final copy, and I would also think that if we ever need to have face-to-face everybody in the team will be available at the same time or would try make an effort at least. 3) Ensuring fair and even contribution and collaboration what strategy will you use to ensure that all team members are contributing and collaborating promptly? I really don’t think that we have to use any strategy everybody on the team as an adult, not a child so I would think they did not have to make a plan strategize, so that team member can contribute and corroborate with the other the team members I...
