This week was a great learning experience and I am looking forward to everything else this class has in store for me. Initially, I thought this course would be a piece of cake because the topic is Motivation. I asked myself, how hard can understanding motivation really be? Yet, I did not know that motivation was a process studied for years and that it is crucial to be knowledgeable in it. I always thought motivation was something that can be altered based on a persons skills and emotions but not mandatory. However, this week has taught me that motivation is definitely mandatory and detrimental to a company. Utilizing the theories of motivation can also help predict behaviors of others.

In addition, having the determination to complete a task or goal is known as motivation. To fully understand motivation, he or she must have knowledge and use the four interrelated aspects of engagements to help determine a persons behavior. The four interrelated aspects are behavioral engagements, emotional engagements, cognitive engagement, and self-report. In my opinion, self-report is a important part of motivation because it allows all that are involved to interactive with the process. There are also other theories that help predict behaviors such as the goal-setting theory. The goal-setting theory has proving to predict behaviors because in this theory the person involved has contributed their thoughts to the goal in which makes he or she more eager to achieve success. When companies use the goal-setting theory, they are basically incorporating everyone’s ideas into one goal that is agreeable and reachable to everyone. For example, my organization has monthly meeting to discuss improvements that are needed and ways to approach/succeed in the changes. By doing this, managers now have knowledge on each persons expectations and that helps them predict
