will be online at various times throughout the day (around my lunchtime at work and again in the evenings). I am always present in our classes on five of seven days during the online week. I typically like to reserve Saturday and Sunday to spend with my family and friends, however, will periodically be present on these days as well. If these times are not convenient for you, please let me know. I will be happy to accommodate your schedule, when possible. I am providing you with these times to make it easier to communicate with me, and not limit our contact. I want you to know that, should you need to contact me outside these times, you should not hesitate to do so.

Where to Go to Class

Main: This is the main forum for the class and is where discussion is conducted. It has read-and-write access for everyone.

Chat-Room: This is a read-and-write access forum. It is designed as a place to discuss issues not related to the course content. This is the forum to which we will send our bios.

Course-Materials: This is a read-only forum, which means you can read messages here but cannot send any. This is where I will post the course syllabus and materials.

Individual Forum: You will see one forum with your name on it. This is a private forum, shared only by you and me, the facilitator. Your classmates will not have access to this forum. You can ask questions here. However, if you have general questions about instructions of assignments, please post those in the Main forum, since other students may benefit by that exchange as well.
Where to Submit Your Assignments

Assignment Section: This is where you will submit all formal assignments. Navigate to the Assignments link on eCampus. Locate the link to submit your assignment as an attachment. All assignments must be submitted as a Microsoft word attachment.
Policies

For complete class policies, please see the Policies link on the left side of the Materials page for the course on eCampus. Faculty and students/learners will be held responsible for understanding and adhering to all policies contained within that link. University policies are subject to change so please be sure to read them at the beginning of each class as it may have changed since your last class. Policies may be slightly different depending on the modality in which you attend class. If you have recently changed modalities it is important you read the policies governing your current class modality.
Axia Weekly Schedule: The electronic class week begins on Monday (Day 1) and ends on Sunday (Day 7). Assignments must be posted no later than 11:59 p.m. M.S.T. on the day that it is due. (All Online Learning System forum messages are automatically date and time-stamped using M.S.T.).
Attendance: To be in attendance during a class week, a student must post at least one message to any of the course forums on two separate days during the online week. Deadlines for attendance are based on M.S.T. Attendance is tracked automatically in all Online and Axia courses.
Late Assignments: Assignments are late if they are not posted by 11:59p.m.M.S.T. the day they are due. Unless the student/learner and instructor have negotiated and mutually agreed upon an alternative submission date in advance, late assignments receive a 10% deduction for each day they are late. Assignments more than four days late will not be accepted. Technological issues are not considered valid grounds for late assignment submission. In the event of a University of Phoenix server outage, students should submit assignments through email to the instructor and submit through the assignments section when systems are restored. Unless an Incomplete grade has been granted, student/learner assignments submitted after the last day of class will not be accepted.
Academic Integrity: By virtue of membership in the University’s academic community, student/learners accept a responsibility to abide by the Student Code of Academic Integrity, which is part of the Student/learner Code of Conduct. The Code includes statements on plagiarism and appropriate behavior. A link to the Code can be found on the Center for Writing Excellence web site.
Participation: Participation is very important as it contributes to the overall learning and enjoyment of the class. For full participation credit, student/learners are required to contribute two substantive discussion messages on four days each week in the Main Forum. Participation consists of messages sent above and beyond graded assignments. Both quantity and quality are important considerations when posting substantive messages. For example, "I agree” does not constitute participation because it does not add anything of substance to the discussion. In order to earn full participation points, the messages must be substantive, related to the course topics for the week and include new ideas, personal perspectives and examples, or poignant follow-up questions.

Discussion question responses MUST be at least 150 words. For discussion question responses in the Main forum, please post responses to the threads provided. To respond, highlight the appropriate thread, click on Reply, type your response, and post message. Please do not start a new thread for the weekly discussion questions in the Main forum.

Unlike your formal written assignments, I do not require that your discussion question responses adhere to specific formatting requirements. However, please make sure to proofread carefully and utilize this as an opportunity to evaluate your grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

I expect your discussion question responses to reflect critical thought. Whenever possible, please try to relate the course content to real-world applications from your personal experience.
