Question 1 – Identify the key aspects of current Legislative requirements and Codes of Practice relevant to your own role.
In my current job there are many Acts that must be adhered to, these include:-
Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 - which states the duties of the employer and employee and protects people at work and also anybody affected by the work activities.
Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 as amended in 2003 & 2006 – Prevents unsafe practices and minimises risks.
Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH) 2002 and 2004 Amendment – Deals with the range of substances regarded as hazardous and the storage, handling, usage and disposal of them.
Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations 1992 – Covers the minimum health and safety requirements for the use of display screen equipment.
Equality Act 2010 – Bans unfair treatment and helps achieve equal opportunities in the workplace and wider society.
Manual Handling Operations regulations (MHO) 1992 as amended in 2002 – Minimises injury caused due to manual handling and states the duties of the employer and employee.
Reporting of Injuries, Diseases, Dangerous Occurrences (RIDDOR) Regulations 1995 – Requires the reporting of specified accidents, ill health and dangerous occurrences.
Personal Protective Equipment at Work Regulations 1992 as amended in 2002 - The Employer has to provide suitable and sufficient protective clothing and equipment for all employees to use.

Manual Handling – Code of Practice for: used to identify, assess and control hazards associated with manual handling.
Management of Substances Hazardous to Health (MOSHH) in the Place of Work.

In my own role of teaching Professional Updates the students will present a workbook linked with the coming PU lesson which they will have completed prior to the PU training. I will examine and mark the workbook to check on their knowledge and understanding.
