In the book, Pudd'nhead Wilson by Mark Twain, one minor choice can have a large impact on a reputation. When David Wilson made a joke about half a dog and the people of Dawson's Landing misunderstood it, he was then referred to as Pudd'nhead. "The incident was told all over the town... Within' a week he had lost his first name; Pudd'nhead took it's place." (Twain 5) Wilson was just making a joke to get acquainted with some of the townsfolk, but this one minor event changed his life. His career and reputation was hurt for many years. On page 14, Roxana switches the children in order for her child (Chambers) to avoid getting sold down the river. She does this by switching their clothes and cribs; with this she changes the story dramatically.
