I feel that consumption, media, and technology all have had a huge effect on our society as a whole. A nice family dinner or game night, has now been interrupted with cell phones, TV, internet and video games. I know that even when my family takes a nice relaxing vacation, most of the time we are all off doing our own thing with some sort of technical device in hand. My son even has to bring his Xbox our Playstation on vacation now. We spend little time talking, catching up, and relaxing (the things truly meant to be done on a vacation). This is one thing I would like to change about my family. We need to spend more time enjoying each other’s company and less time on Facebook. When I was younger fun times and leisurely activities were spent with family, and I miss that. So, I would have to agree with the book “postmodernism refers to the perhaps undesirable changes wrought by modernization”. Even though, I don’t think I could survive without internet, how ironic?

David, I hate to say it, but I need a technology intervention. Until reading this chapter I did not realize how much time I spent on the internet or playing on my phone. I also hate to admit that I am on level 742 on Candy Crush and 822 on Pet Rescue. I am embarrassed to think about the time spent playing these games, when I could have spent that time enjoying family.

According to my reading, in 1990, Congress passed a Law 101-476, recognizing the Individuals with Disabilities Education Acts (IDEA). (Thomas, 2013) Special education terminology has historically under gone construction several times in the United States. (Thomas, 2013) As I began to discuss various questions related to individuals with Intellectual disabilities, you will see how the terminology, law, and the identification of ID is very much an open wide debate. Interesting enough, what was perceived as my understanding of children with Intellectual disabilities was not to far off in terms of my opinion. I would venture to say that, maybe I was not as informed as previously thought off. Now, moreover, in knowing that there are different levels of disabilities, ignorant people, I including, almost categorize...
