EXAMPLE OF RECOMMENDATION REPORT

Date: 2nd November 2006
To: Joseph P.White, Superintendent of Schools
From: David Ayers
Subject: Purchase Recommendations for 8” jointer

Recently, Jim Delallo and I discussed at length the serious problems he was having in operating the jointer at the high schools. Considering that the machine has been under continuous student use for 27 years and has reduced accuracy because of the small table and fence size, I indicated I would contact you regarding a new jointer. You asked that I forward 2006-2007 budget requests by 15th December.

Therefore, I have prepared this recommendation report for choosing a new 8” jointer. Based on lab and catalogue resources and after discussion with other Industrial Arts Teacher in this area, I have narrowed my choices to two: Delta Model DJ-20 and Powermatic Model 60. Each machine has been evaluated using the following criteria, in descending order of importance:

1. Fence size

2. Table length

3. Cost

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the district budget for capital purchase of the Delta Model DJ-20 8” jointer 2006-2007. Selection of the Delta jointer is a departure from the practice of purchasing Powermatic equipment for the woodworking shop. It is my feeling that the Delta jointer is best suited for the current and future needs for the woodworking program.

All elements in the criteria have been met. The slightly higher cost of the Delta, $36.00 is more than offset by increased efficiency and capacity, as noted below.

1. A larger fence size (for better control of stock when squaring)

2. A larger table size (resulting in more efficient planning)

The remainder of the report will compare both machines to the criteria.

CRITERIA

Fence size

The fence serves as a guide for planning face and edge surfaces. The size of the fence, width and length, is directly related to cutting efficiency. The fence size of the jointer currently in operation is 3”x 28”. In purchasing a new jointer the fence size should be increased for improved accuracy and squaring efficiency.

• Delta DJ-20, as Table 1 shows, the Delta fence size is 5”x36”. This represents a 2”x8” increase, which will result in more efficient operations.

• The Powermatic-60 fence is 4”x34”, a 1”x6” increase over that of the existing fence.

Conclusion, both machines exceed the fence size criterion of 3”x28”. Delta DJ-20 has the greatest increase, 2”x8”, and will result in greater squaring accuracy and longitudinal control when jointing edge surfaces.

TABLE 1: 8” Jointer Capabilities Comparison

Criteria Standard DeltaDJ-20 Powermatic-60

Fence size Maximum 3”x28” 5”x36” 4”x34”

Table length Minimum of 52” 76” 64”

Cost Not exceed $2,300 $2,128.00 $2,092.00

Table Length

In-feed and out-feed tables are combined and referred to as table length to as table length. Increased table length improves accuracy when jointing and provides greater stability when planning face surfaces. On the existing machine, the table length is 52”. When planning and jointing stock over 40”, it is difficult to maintain accuracy. To realize improved handling and accuracy on a new jointer, the table length should be above 52”.

• Delta DJ-20, as Table 1 shows, the table length of the Delta is 76”, a 24” increase. This increased size will allow for greater efficiency when planning stock approximately 60”.

• Powermatic-60, as Table 1 shows, the table length of this jointer exceeds the minimum length by 12”. Improved planning can be increased to approximately 50”.

Conclusion, both jointers exceed the 52” minimum table length size. The significant increase in the Delta jointer table length will offer improved planning and jointer accuracy and increase handling capacity.

Cost

The jointer is a capital equipment item and the cost cannot be department budgeted if in excess of $2,300, unless prior approval is granted by the secondary committee. Costs (including shipping, stand and three-phase conversion) are:

• Delta DJ-20: $2,128.00

• Powermatic-60: $2,092.00

Conclusion, both machines meet the third criterion. The Powermatic is slightly lower in cost, but does not have all the capacity and features of the Delta model. The additional cost of the Delta jointer is more than offset by the increase in table and fence size.

Recommendation Report

...Recommendation Report HRM/552 May 30, 2016 Dr. Linda Ballard Recommendation Report My job here at ABC call-center is a newly acquired position here and my focus is on recommendations and restructuring the call center and the overall performance. In my new position I have many things to review and report on with recommendations for the call-center. It is important for me to review all of the call center aspects and report based on all of the factors that can make the call center as a whole more productive and better. At first glance the call center seems to be doing fine; however, the profit margin seems to be slowing and dwindling each reporting week. In first review of the numbers it would seem that the employees are not doing their job, but the numbers show that they are taking calls, doing work, and producing. There is something missing though, so we need to find out what is missing and how we can fix this in the reporting. In reviewing the employees, Henry is the employee who has been here the longest. He has been here with the company for 2 years. We want to speak with him and get his insight into the issues with the call-center and see what can be done from the employee stance to make the center more productive. Henry met with me today and we were able to get some very informative answers about issues that he feels are directly related to the issues at hand for the employees. Some of the concerns mentioned are: * Lack of proper Training *......

...Content of this Course At your request, I have examined measures to improve the oral content—presentations and speeches— provided by the professor for our BA 324 course. A core mission in this course, as stated in the syllabus, is to provide undergraduate business students with tools for communicating effectively in “complex environments,” such as the business world. And while students have exercised the writing tools provided in the course to achieve effective communication skills multiple times, the oral content in this course has not been as frequently practiced by the students as needed. To collect data for this report, I researched successful communication techniques taught by different organizations; I also interviewed fellow classmates. This report presents data describing the significance of the problem, two alternatives, and a recommendation based on my various research. Limited Opportunities to Improve Oral Communication Skills Technological tools, like computers, can be used as an effective means of communication by sending an electronic email within seconds to convey a message. However, there’s nothing more powerful in the “hierarchy of communication” than the “face-to-face interaction with someone,” according to Edward Wilczynski (2009). And the only way to master this crucial channel of communication is through practice (Irish, Tiede, & Weiss, 2004). 1. Our class has practiced oral communication twice this semester—in the elevator......

Recommendation Report Outlining

...To: Department Heads and Hospital Board. RE: Recommendation Report Outlining Dear Sir/Madam, In attempt to the facilitate hiring volunteer students who have interested in pursuing a medical career. I have come up with a few recommendations. Firstly, we should ask the students for letter of recommendation from their teacher who known the students’ characteristic well. I recognize that those who wish to dedicate their time to public service, community health efforts, and exposure to experience in medical setting come from various backgrounds. Some may be intent on pursuing a career in medicine, while others may be merely contemplating it. Whatever their personal background may be, our goal is providing them enriching experience after the volunteer term. The needs of submitting letter of recommendation will help us speed up the process to begin with actual volunteering. Secondly, I will also require the students’ GPA. Their GPA should be high from 3.5 to 4.0. Because we will identify the students whose mature and have responsibility for this volunteering position from their GPA. Lastly, we should have an orientation for those students that meet our requirements. After the orientation, we will make an appointment to interview the individual student. I believe the students should have some idea about what they are going to do. We can have some general questions finalize who is a good candidate for the volunteer position. I am looking forward to hear from......

Report of Strategies and Recommendations to Improve the Hospital’s Financial Status

...Report of strategies and recommendations to improve the hospital’s financial status In my analysis of the problems now facing the hospital, I have pointed out key areas that continue to lose money for the hospital and ways to improve on the now running systems to improve efficiency. It is clear that the hospital continues to lose patients and with the patients significant income. There is an array of issues causing this in my opinion but I very well agree with the recent audit. In this spirit I present this report which in my best opinion will go miles to overcome our current situation and even better it. I believe that it is high time the hospital undertook a serious bench marking exercise. It is important to keep the hospital trendy and up to date with the latest in modern healthcare practices. This will not only help us in competing better in the market but will also increase the efficiency of our services and the general company outlook. A good example is with the fitness and wellness center currently running in one of our competing hospitals. Having a fitness center in the hospital will definitely increase the flow of patients and with that our financial situation. Encouraging members to take up membership to the wellness center that will tag along with free medical checkups and discounts on services once you are a member will also widen revenue streams. It is also paramount that we look at our labor force. In order to run an efficient business it’s important to keep......

Xbox O vs Ps4 Recommendation Report

...Recommendation Report: PS4 vs. Xbox One Purchase Date: March 21, 2015 To: Dr. Kihn From: Marcearrow Bruce Subject: Purchase Recommendation for Gaming Consoles The purpose of this report is to recommend the gaming console that you should purchase for yourself. You had informed me that you wanted to upgrade your current gaming system to one of the newer gaming system. I limited my choices to two: Play Station 4 and the Xbox One. To determine which gaming system I should recommend, I evaluated them using the following criteria in ranked order: * Price * Entertainment & Apps * Game Library RECOMMENDATION I recommend that you purchase the Xbox One, which (In my opinion) is the best choice. First, the price is within the $400 you set to spend and you get more for your money if you buy the Xbox One. Second, the entertainment & apps of the system is everything you was looking for and more. Lastly, it don't matter which system you pick, there are games available for both and Xbox has exclusive games as well. CRITERIA DISCUSSION As you requested, I researched several gaming system between Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo. I found that each system are now highly specialized to make the gamer happy and user friendly. Each system has its own special features, but I narrowed it down to the top two gaming system mentioned before. These two systems were unique and the top two gaming systems on the market today. Report on Relevant Issues of Electronic Monitoring of Empoyees and the Recommendations Made.

...REPORT ON RELEVANT ISSUES OF ELECTRONIC MONITORING OF EMPOYEES AND THE RECOMMENDATIONS MADE. Introduction Actual monitoring of employees in workplace has been in existence for some time now; Frederick Taylor used time and motion studies to analyze the work practices of various types of employee. But nowadays, the electronic monitoring will give the employers the more information of all the employees’ work activities in a detailed way (Ottensmeyer and Heroux, 1991). They are some network tools that can capture user log in details, the file accessed, the time it was accessed and so many other things. What is Electronic Monitoring? Electronic monitoring can be seen in different concepts, firstly, it can be seen by the way employers will use electronic devices to review and measure the employees work performance, for instance, the employer may decide to review the employee’s incoming and outgoing mails to see how he/she relate with the customers whether is satisfactorily. Secondly, it can be seen as electronic surveillance in such a way that the employer will use the electronic devices to know what the employee does, and also review the sites he visited for the day and check whether the site is adult site or gamble site (King, 2008). The Frequency of Electronic Monitoring within the company An employee maybe unaware how he is being monitored, but research showed that more than 20 millions of employees have their emails being search by their employers; in......

Recommendation Report

...Date: 25 March 2014 To: James Brown Math Teacher From: Jack Don Carreviews.com Reviewer Subject: Recommendation for first car At your request I have done some research on both Electrical and gasoline powered car. Based on the features, safety rating, and mpg (miles per gallon), I will recommend the best car within your budget range of $30,000. I will be using multiple sources to compare both types of vehicle from Nissan, and Honda. Lastly, I will present to you my conclusion which will help you in finding that perfect first car. Brief Overview of Electrical Powered Vs. Gasoline Powered Car Electric cars are fairly new to the market, so consumers that purchase one today will basically be getting a product that might have some recalls. On the other hand, the gasoline powered car has been around since the 1890s, so they are very common and easy to maintain. For example, if something happens to your electric car you would not be able to take it to any ordinary mechanic shop to get maintenance done. This is where the gasoline powered car wins, sure they might have some recalls as well, but they are easier to maintain and you will be spending less money because you would not be forced to take your car to the dealership for maintenance. Features Compared The 2014 Nissan Leaf S starts at $28,980 and the 2014 Honda Accord LX starts at $22,755. The Nissan Leaf is an all-electric vehicle, while the Honda Accord is gasoline powered. They both meet......
