a) How can the concepts in this chapter be applied and implemented in an organization? (Fernanda)
The current organization is governed by a monarch, the king. Therefore, any problem or unconformity must be taken to him or any of his representatives before any other judgement can be made. Usually, the king punishes whoever he thinks is guilty and they cannot question him. Moreover, decisions are made based on hierarchical levels, meaning that higher up members of the feudal system tend to receive lower or no punishments than those that have no power. This process has raised a lot of unconformity and feelings of inequity; therefore, it would be beneficial to implement a process in which social status and class are not taken in consideration for …show more content…
If we promote the implementation of both: recreational breaks and the allowance of days off, people might take advantage of these. Therefore, it has to be made clear that stress is not an excuse to not perform. With this understanding, the allowance for recreational breaks can then be implemented, decreasing stress and promoting high job performance. Consequently, employees would not be able to excuse low performance due to stress. Moreover, the stress management strategies given to management, should be provided to the employers. In fact, through employee stress management, the organization will promote satisfaction and reduce turnover and …show more content…
Therefore, every decision is given by the monarch/king and then implemented by the knights and servants. This form of government tends to be unfair and biased when resolving conflict, since there is no third party mediation. In fact, even if the king gives an erroneous verdict, nobody is allowed to question his judgement. Therefore, the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) can truly benefit the development of this organization. Through the implementation of ADR, the king would allow the formation of a royalty and non-royalty committee that can mediate for the person that is being accused of a crime without the need of a trail. Moreover, the committee would not rupture the form of government, but add value to the king’s judgment and provide a sense of

...You got ball, “BREAK A LEG” One glance at the assignment’s title and the first thing came to my mind, “What in the world is this?” Is it literally my lecturer wants me to organize a fist fighting sort of a competition where we challenge guys to fight with each other by kicking their guts out? My thoughts went wild and I start imagining Brad Pitt look alike guys flexing their well define sculpted body with sweat dripping from that crunchy abdominal muscles. The reality was far apart from my imagination. Yes, there will be guys involve. Yes, they will compete with each other and yes, they will even flex their muscles, but for a completely different reason. It’s a futsal competition! I was thrilled with this as it will be my first ever venture in organizing sports event. Moreover, the title of the event itself was so catchy that I was so eager to promote it. You got ball, “Break a Leg” merely means there is a ball in the court, “Good Luck”. That very moment, I knew this event is going to be a challenge as I may end up with too much on my plate to chew. With all the weekends occupied in doing study revisions and weekdays by attending classes, I have to squeeze through whatever little time left to materialise this event. I was being very optimistic while carrying the entire task and this really helped to pull me through the muddy grounds when it was hard to decorate my every single step. We started this assignment by conducting meetings. Meetings were held weekly with our...

Bad New Message

...Ave. Cincinnati, OH 45221 Dear Mr. Rowan: Thank you for your interest in staying at the Panama City 100 over your upcoming spring break. The Panama City area has a lot of exciting developments happening right now and in upcoming months. After a few unfortunate experiences at our hotel, a strict policy against accepting reservations from student groups was put into place. Without the normal amenities that a resort hotel might have such as a tiki Hut, DJ or lazy river, we have sought to cater strictly to business professionals and over-night travelers. Due to this strict policy, we are unable to provide your student group with the fifteen double rooms that you have requested. Although our hotel is unable to accommodate college students, it would be a pleasure to keep in contact for any future inquires you may have as a business professional later on. If you are still interested in visiting Panama City Florida, there are many other resorts in the same area as our hotel which I believe would provide you with a wonderful stay. The Palms Resort sits directly on Panama City Beach and includes free parking, WiFi, and a daily complimentary breakfast. There is also a tiki bar which provides refreshments and cocktails next to the ocean-view pool. Regardless of your final destination, I hope that you have an excellent Spring Break. I look forward to hearing from you for any inquiries you may have after graduation. Good luck in the rest of your college career...

The Break Up

...| NOTE: This spoiler was sent in by Monica. Gary (Vince Vaughn), an affable tour guide in Chicago, is at a Cubs game with his buddy Johnny (Jon Favreau) when he spots Brooke (Jennifer Aniston) a few seats down. She's with a dorky, plaid-shorted date and doesn't look like she's having a lot of fun. Gary thinks she's cute, so he buy's her a hot dog and convinces her to leave her lame date and come out with him. The next sequence is a series of still photos of Gary and Brooke's courtship. We find out that they go to football games, barbecue with friends, join a couples bowling league, buy a condo together—and look pretty happy together doing it. | Flash forward two years. Brooke and Gary are living together. Gary’s still a popular tour guide for a company he owns with his two brothers; Brooke works at an art gallery. On this particular day, Brooke is assisting a very attractive male customer who ultimately decides not to buy anything. She tells him to wait until he sees something he just has to own. The day ends and Brooke rushes home, seeming stressed out. We find out that Brooke is stressed because she and Gary are having both of their families over for dinner. The families haven’t spent a lot of time together, so Brooke really wants this to go well. Gary wanders in the door and hands Brooke a small bag of three lemons. Stateline Transhipment Models

...Can we apply transshipment models to inventory applications? Why or why not? Transshipment models can be applied to inventory applications because like transshipment models inventory applications deal transporting goods to different destinations. Items are transported from one destination to another just like inventory applications. Is the transportation model an example of decision making under certainty or decision making under uncertainty? Why? Transportation model is an example of decision making under certainty because the destinations of the goods are decided and are not unknown which makes the decision making a certainty because the destination is known. The transshipment model is an extension of the transportation model in which intermediate transshipment points are added between the sources and destinations. An example of a transshipment point is a distribution center or warehouse located between plants and stores. In a transshipment problem, items may be transported from sources through trans-shipment points on to destinations, from one source to another, from one transshipment point to another, from one destination to another, or directly from sources to destinations, or some combination of these alternatives. Therefore we can apply the transshipment models to inventory applications because deals with a source and destinations and they are similar. The transportation model is an example of decision making under certainty because the sources and destination...

Optimism

...Jordan Anderson GS2745W – 1/07/2015 02_A2 – Optimism A. My girlfriend/boyfriend left me. Often times when there is a breakup, people will blame it on something the other person did or has done. It’s harder to point the finger at one’s self and look in the mirror and ask what could have I done better. Though you may be feeling down about the break up, take a look at yourself and find ways to make yourself better. This will lead to you feeling better about yourself and will likely make you more attractive to the opposite sex. B. I was late with my rent and may lose my apartment. Considering that you were late with your rent most likely means that you were not paying close enough attention to your pocket book and planning for future expenses. This would provide a great opportunity to sit down, consider your income and then draw up a budget that will allow for this type of thing to never happen again. C. My car needs to be repaired. Similar to the one above, this would be an added expense. However you have to look at it in a way of an investment. I was taught the rule of 10’s. Plan your actions based on reactions 10 minutes from now, 10 months from now and 10 years from now. If you repair your car now, yes you will not have as much money today, however you will be able to get to work having a reliable means of transportation thus making your investment 10 months from now well worth the expense. D. My hours were cut at work. Instantly people will consider...

Analysis

...While all relationships can be difficult, romantic relationships seem to be some of the most complicated types. Sometimes two people can care for one another so much, yet they cannot seem to communicate effectively. When a lack of communication occurs between two people for a long period of time, it most likely will lead to a huge confrontation and possibly a complete dissolve of the relationship. The Break-Up is a prime example where we see that interpersonal communication is key when trying to maintain a strong and healthy relationship. We begin this romantic comedy with Gary, which is played by Vince Vaughn, trying to capture young Brooke’s attention with his initiating sense of humor. But as the film progresses we see how something as little as lemons can ensue an argument which had been slowly building up over time. As we look at Knapp’s model we quickly come to find out that, The Break-Up, was a film primarily based in the “coming apart” stage. Throughout this paper I will focus on the stages of circumscribing, stagnating, and avoiding and how they ultimately led to the downfall of Brooke and Gary’s relationship. As we look at Knapp’s development model, what exactly does circumscribing mean? In the circumscribing stage, communication between members decreases in quantity and quality. Rather discussing a disagreement (which requires energy on both sides of the relationship), members opt for withdrawal. Circumscribing involves the shrinking interest and commitment. (Looking...

Hae Min Lee Guilty

...Imagine someone you like or even love are leading you on while they're with someone else, jealousy and rage start forming into hatred. Adnan’s jealousy may have drove him over the edge leading him to kill Hae. Even though he doesn’t seem like the jealous type, many of Hae’s close friends have seen Adnan being possessive towards Hae. He had a motive for killing her after she broke his heart, he wanted to break hers. One more reason why Adnan is guilty is because he’s a natural born liar. As claimed by Sarah Koenig, “He saw his parents standing at the window of the homecoming dance. He saw his mother raise her voice at Hae Lee in front of his classmates. ‘Look what you’re doing to our family!’ He saw the pain in his mother’s face because she knew they were together. And he saw himself, in the end, standing there with nothing to show for it, but a guilty conscience and a pack of lies in which he cloaked himself.”(“The Breakup.” Pg. 6). Adnan lied about everything, his relationships, his drinking, his smoking, even about...

Operation Management

...management of Southern Recreational Vehicle Company of St. Louis, Missouri, announced to relocate its manufacturing and assembly operations by constructing a new plant in Ridgecrest, Mississippi. The firm, a major producer of pickup campers and camper trailers, had experienced 5 consecutive years of declining profits due to production costs. The costs of labor and raw materials had increased alarmingly, utility costs had gone up sharply , and taxes and transportation expenses had steadily climbed upward. In spite of increased sales, the company suffered its first net loss since operations were begun in 1982. When management initially considered relocation, it closely scrutinized several geographic areas. The importance to the relocation decision were the availability of adequate transportation facilities, state and municipal tax structures, an adequate labor supply, positive community attitudes, reasonable site costs, and financial inducements. The management of Southern Recreational Vehicle Company was impressed by the efforts of the Mississippi Power and Light Company to attract “clean, labor-intensive” industry. Two weeks prior to the announcement, management of Southern Recreational Vehicle Company finalized its location plans. An existing building in Ridgecrest’s park was selected; initial recruiting was begun through the state employment office; and to lease or sell the St. Louis property were initiated . John Knowles

...The Life of John Knowles “I went back to the Devon School not long ago, and found it looking oddly newer than when I was a student there fifteen years before” (Knowles 1). This was the very first statement that John Knowles wrote in his first published novel, A Separate Peace. John Knowles based a lot of this book on Phillips Exeter Academy, which is an impressive boarding school located in New Hampshire (Literature and Times). The author John Knowles connects his life to his novel, and the connection between his life and this work makes this story more believable and more interesting. John Knowles was born on September 16, 1962, in Fair Mount, West Virginia. As a child, John’s parents worked in a coal business in West Virginia. (Exeter.edu) His brother, James Knowles, attended the Mercersburg Academy in Pennsylvania and then college in Dartmouth. John’s parents thought that schools in New England would offer a better education than the ones nearby, so they decided to look at many catalogues of schools throughout this area. Out of the blue, John says, he, “pick[ed] up a catalog one day which was lying around the house, the catalog was for Philips Exeter Academy” (Exeter.edu). Phillips Exeter is an all-male boarding school in New Hampshire. After graduating high school in 1945, John decided to go to Yale, and there he earned a Bachelor’s degree in 1949.
