Reflection: The Leadership Mystique
Leadership is strongly depending upon the complexity patter among leader, follower, and situation. Successful leaders often fulfill two roles. Taking on the charismatic role allows leaders to envision, empower, and energize their followers through motivation. In the has hand, there is a fine balance when leader must take an instrumental role and approach as an organization designer, keep control, and reward behavior appropriately. Our goal as a leader is to determine the company’s needs and derive our commitment to that direction. In order to pursue the route, it all starts with a vision. Once defined it take that leader to themselves and all they influence with this vision. The vision is driven by the environment and leader ability to understand how which direction the environment moving in problem solving. It’s found that people are motivated if they commit themselves to vision statement that applies to the mission statement. It must be more than words, but inspirational. When working to define your mission, another key factor is to focus on your enemy. Doing this will inspire the competitive flare and provides the focus and concentration to achieve success. Another factor that make leader stand above all is their ability to get people engaged and involved. “Effective leaders are very good at building alliances and creating commitment so that other will share their vision.” They empower!
One question that this article then led me too was the question, if you are not born a leader, where does one obtains those traits to for a sense of mission and charisma. The thought of having a logical, rational leader is often sought it the ideal. A piece the interested me was in regards to the inner theater that we and even leaders have. It is the inner-theater that can derail an organizations balance. All of us posses some…...

...Reflection Paper in our Group Activity As a leader for the group I was chosen because they said that a member with vast experiences about the topic made most of the decisions and disturbed work among to our group. There was no disagreement during our group meetings. There were no arguments about the workload. The group member assumed that everyone was on the same level. Each member needed to do extra research for our activity was to be done properly.  The group work as a team, several suggestions were made by the each and some of them were adopted. The group was selective in adopting new ideas. The group worked well, agreements were reached on almost all issues but little new information was gained by all members. I believe that group work was an ideal method for quick information gathering. While working in the groups there are some barriers that we encountered. It is not easy for us to communicate all the time, because some member of our group is not available because of some personal matters. But I see to it that every time that we have an activity that we need to past or to present, I’ll always remind them to do their part and always update them by giving some information about the topic. Technologies help us to communicate easily, by sending text messages, sending email and through our Facebook. It also helps us to gather some information that we need, to enhance our idea and to present our group presentation on time. By this I could proudly say that......

...Learning Team Assignment: Reflection Reflection Objective 1.1 Evaluate individual characteristics of employees Characteristics of employees can vary from; age, gender, disability, gender identity, religion, sexual orientation, biographical characteristics, race, and ethnicity. Some employers see positive qualities with hiring older workers such as the older workers are more likely to have judgment, experience, and a strong work ethic. The negative to hiring an older worker as appose to a younger worker is that older workers tend to be more set in their ways and are not open to change. Gender does not play a huge role in employee selection as much as it did in the past. One main issue when it comes to gender is that working mothers are more likely to prefer working part- time and flexible work schedules. Race and ethnicity is a very controversial issue to speak on. The main races that are mostly compared are African Americans and Whites. It is proven that in employment settings people tend to favor the colleagues that are of their own race in different aspects of the job; whether it is for pay raises, promotions or performance evaluations. Objective 1.2 Analyze the impact of individual employee characteristics on organizational performance. Objective 1.3 Determine management methods based on individual employee characteristics Almost every company will agree that great management involves...

...Week Four Reflections Allyson Bara, Courtney Heiser, Torie Jones, Kristie Laughinghouse, Stefanie Olney, Lynette Plowe ACC/291 Principles of Accounting II April 29, 2013 Professor Beth Baligrosky Week Four Team Reflection In week four, the objectives were define as prepare a statement of cash flows using both direct and indirect methods, apply ratio, vertical, and horizontal analyses to financial statements and prepare journal entries associated with the issuance of preferred and common stocks and the declaration and payment of dividends. Cash flows will identify a company's sources and uses of cash. Companies are required to prepare a statement of cash flows in their annual reports because it contains essential data for others, such as lenders and investors, who make economic decisions about the companies. It shows the bases and uses of cash and is a basis for cash flow analysis. Companies produce and consume cash in different ways, so the cash flow statement is divided into three sections: cash flows from operations, financing and investing. Basically, the sections on operations and financing show how the company gets its cash, while the investing section shows how the company spends its cash. Each section can give you a snap shot of a company’s cash management viewpoint. This can also tell you whether dividends have actually been paid out or whether they are accruing. According to Financial accounting “Operating activities include receipts and payments from...

...Human Aggression: A Reflection Almost every time we switch on our TV sets to watch the evening news about our country it has become a norm that we can expect news about crimes committed by our fellowmen. From crimes like theft and oral defamations to gang riots and cases like murder, there are numerous crimes that happened because of problems with our behavior. There are different factors that can influence us to commit such kind of behaviors. Such crimes may be caused by intoxication, drug abuse, mental problems suffered by an individual. Aside from this, criminality can be also caused by factors that just drive an individual to carry out actions that are intentional and that can cause harm. Basically, it is human aggression that can possibly cause these criminal acts. Definitely aggression is part of human behavior but what causes and individual to become aggressive. Based on our discussion, we have talked about the Domain Specific Theories of Aggression. I strongly agree with the Social Learning Theory suggesting that individuals acquire aggressive behavior because of either direct experience or by observing others. Simply put, this theory asserts that aggressive behaviors are attained through observational learning processes. In the mainstream Filipino culture, we can usually hear sayings such as “Ang lahat ay tama sa mga mata ng mga bata.” Children who are exposed to a life where violence is a common sight, the tendency for them to develop a......

...Reflection BCOM/275 Reflection Based on the career plan building activities that I have done throughout this course, I am heading in the right path. My ultimate goal is to become a manager or supervisor in the near future either in nutrition or information technology department. To be able to apply to any of those positions, I must acquire a bachelor’s degree or currently attending an accredited school. The results from the reasoning exercise, I can set an example for others at what I do best, which are delivering results, adapting to change, following instructions, organizing, and leading (University of Phoenix, 2011). Areas where I can expand and hone in on are persuading, networking, presenting, writing, researching, innovating, and applying expertise (University of Phoenix, 2011). The career interests profiler and competencies practice has shown me areas in which my skills will prevail. Being able to work and help others is what I love to do. It has always been centered on customer service. The process of breaking things down to where it is understandable and to apply critical thinking skills will create a better work environment. The work culture exercise has helped me define the career roles that I am more likely suited for. Without an incentive to challenge one another, the company’s top leaders......

...Reflection Paper AB 104 Personal Financial Management Dana Gitzlaff October 7, 2014 Reflection Paper The first key element we learned about was setting specific goals about what we want to do with our life and our money. In both our professional lives as well as our personal lives, finances have a profound effect on achieving those goals. Setting a goal to travel in retirement years affects how we will plan our finances. Setting a goal for early retirement depends on how well we handle our finances in the present time. Home ownership, providing for the grandchildren’s college education, moving or changing careers will all be affected by how our finances are managed. Goals should then be prioritized in the order you want to achieve them with the exception of long-term goals like retirement which should be constantly maintained while working on the others. Setting goals will do little good unless a plan is formulated. Controlling your budget should be the first part of your plan and the second part should be how to get out of debt. After these two things are accomplished, decide what you want to do with your money to reach your goals. Creating a budget allows you to create a spending plan so you can direct your money in a way that will help you to reach your goals. Once you have formulated your plans and have paid off debt, you are ready to begin investing and should speak to a financial planner to help you make your investment decisions. Preparing in advance......

...Reflection Paper The event happened the night before I left for home for Christmas break. A friend and I went over to Teresa to hang out with friends in somebody’s dorm room. There was no alcohol when we got there but somebody suggested that we get alcohol. Somebody went to get beer, Axis energy drinks containing alcohol and a couple of 40 oz. malt liquor bottles. I took an Axis and only had a few sips, not liking the taste. I knew I shouldn’t have been in the environment I was in, with so much alcohol and alcohol drinking going on. I knew it wasn’t allowed on campus, yet continued to stay in the room and talk to people and listen to music. At one point during the night I noticed many people leaving the room, not realizing immediately that a resident assistant was at the door. My first instinct was to stay. I had no thought of leaving, and knew I had to take responsibility for my actions. I spoke with the RA giving him my name and telling him my ID number having left my card in my dorm room. I helped count the alcohol cans in the room and proceeded to help bring them out to the dumpster. I was very nervous as to if my parents would find out because I know that they would be extremely disappointed, possibly even pulling me out of St. Edward’s and making me go to school closer to home. So I am extremely fortunate that they did not find out and I do not plan on doing anything to get in trouble again. If I am ever put in this situation again I would leave immediately if I...

...Ah-ha Reflection University of Maryland University College IFSM 304 Ethics in Information Technology From a class learning perspective, what were some of your “take-aways?” In this class I take-away that information technology is a powerful tool that can be used to further achieve organizational goals and support career development. This same technology contributes to ethical and unethical business practices worldwide. Ultimately the technology can be put to good or mal use depending on our decisions as managers, computing professionals, and users of information systems. We should make decisions led not only by the organizational and technological characteristics of information systems, but also consider how individuals are affected. How has this impacted your understanding of the ethical issues? This has allowed me to establish a deeper comprehension for assessing the ethical acts and its consequences. I know the definition of ethics vary from person to person. For me now, I know it is critical to understand a person’s ethical assessment system. This perception plays a supreme role in framing ethical issues. Ethical decisions are based on an individual’s perception of themselves, by their perception of their actions, and by what their perception is on common laws or practices. I’ve come to understand that final choices are determined by the person’s perception and comprehension of organizations code of ethics play a major role on complying with arising ethical...

...This piece of reflection will focus on my future development within making high levels of decisions, in relation to becoming a qualified Community Specialist Practioner (CSP) after completing a SWOT analysis. Throughout this reflection I will be using the Gibbs (1998) model of reflection, the Gibbs cycle helps the reflective process. It is also structured, helps individuals to look at the situation and evaluate for future learning. Moon (2013). According to Adair (2013) decision-making and problem solving strategies will help individuals confidently make the right decisions within the role as a leader. In addition I will also discuss how I reflected, after completing my SWOT analysis to devise an action plan and goals, to reach my final target. A SWOT analysis is to identify an individual’s; Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats. A SWOT is a structured plan that helps identify strategies to help with positive and negative factors (internally and externally). It also helps to improve personal and professional development, identify areas to develop on and set goals. Pearce (2007). As part of my personal and professional development I needed to complete a SWOT analysis so that I could identify areas to develop, which would contribute to me becoming an effective CSP. I therefore felt to become an effective decision-maker within a team I needed to reflect on my weakness that could be holding me back slightly. During my first couple of weeks as a CSP within my...

... Introduction The purpose of this assignment is to reflect upon my communication and interpersonal skills used during my clinical placement on a ward for acute medical admissions for older people. I will reflect upon how I used those skills to help build therapeutic relationships with patients and how that helped to assist in their recovery. Therapeutic relationships involve developing trust between a patient and practitioner. It forms the basis of a relationship that is essentially safe and confidential, with clear boundaries and leads to better communication and therefore a better outcome for the patient. (Pullen & Mathias, 2010) Being able to reflect upon situations is vital in the role of the nurse. Being able to examine personal thoughts and perceptions enables the nurse to have greater self awareness and build upon strengths and develop personal and professional competencies. (Somerville, D. et al 2004) Reflection has been described as being able to think about a situation, make sense of it and ultimately learn from it. (Clarke and Graham 1996) Taking a period of time to reflect and review a situation allows a person to move on and through the learning experience, become a better practitioner (Bulman et al 2012) By being able to reflect and ask myself what would I do differently or could my practice have been better will only help to develop my skills and knowledge and influence my future as a practitioner in a positive way. Having looked at several...

...Reflection April Thompson Beth Bigler/ HIUM115 University of Phoenix September 28, 2015 Critical thinking is a reflection for everyone in this day and time. It is something that needs and has to be done on a daily basis. This is something that does not come natural. This is a learning process for each and every one of age. This is something we learn over the years with age. To me it is part of maturity little do we know it. It begins to come naturally as we get older. Some get it early and some do not. This course has taught me a lot in these past five weeks. I was taught how to solve problems, the difference between internal and external barriers, and how to determine my creditable resources. Solving problems is not as easy as people make it seems. We really have to use our critically thinking skills to make wise choices. We really need to think every bit of information through. Making wise decisions will help with problem solving. It is a five step model that Ridel explain and is very helpful in situations. “The five steps model is to identify the problem, discover the causes of the problem, create options to solve the problem, evaluate the best options to solve the problem, and act, monitor, and modify selected options” (Ridel, 2015). If we all follow these steps it would make our lives much easier. I did not realize how external and internal barriers can play a role in our everyday lives when it comes to thinking critically. I knew that some...

...Martha Belton Reflection Paper Theology 104 Introduction What can your local Church do to better communicate God’s love to your community? Does the Bible have authority? Did Jesus claim to be God? These are three topics I choose because it was very interesting to me when we talk about Jesus Christ, as our savior. A person living as a Christian should have a good attitude about their self, they should have a caring, loving and forgiving people who does God love. What can your local Church do to better communicate God’s love to your community? I think Church’s has responsibilities to spread the gospel to everyone As Christians we need to know that it was God’s grace and mercy that saved us. Church should not focus on the bad and wrong, but focus good potential in the people and community. The church membership and leadership in our community should embrace diversity without regards of labeling people. The church should not stop people from participation in any church functions, but it should not be limited to race, mental and physical health, gender and age etc. The problem churches have in today world they have to change from contemporary to modern to meet the need of people without them losing what the mission of church is for. Christianity is the most misunderstood religion in the world. The reason for the misunderstanding is the lies and the lack of stability in the church and the community. Christians are bound by the blood that was shed for us by the son of...

...This essay will be a reflective account of an incident from practice based on Gibbs’ Reflective cycle; I will critically analyse the nature of the incident based on the best available evidence. This reflection will help to identify new skills and knowledge learnt as a result of the incident and the implications for my future nursing practice. Although I am aware many reflective models exist, I have chosen to use Gibbs’s reflective framework as it is a cycle and encourages me to think about what I would do differently next time. This clearly shows Gibbs’ awareness that a nurse will have a similar experience again. This reflection method supports Schon’s (1991 cited Issitt 2003) opinion that reflecting on practice after the event is the most effective way to maintain an improvement as a development can be made. As part of the UKCC Project 2000 pre registration nurses are expected to be able to reflect on practice experiences and reflection can help create holistic and flexible practitioners (Andrews et al 1998). For the purpose of the assignment I will use a pseudonym to protect the client’s identity in accordance with the law as stated by the Department of Health (2003), there is also an obligation stated by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC 2008) to protect client confidentiality. This pseudonym is Sue. The first stage of Gibbs’ model is a description of what happened; whilst on a surgical ward I was caring for a lady post operatively who had a bilateral total...
