REFLECTIVE ESSAY #4
What a week last week was. Most the lessons touched me in some way. I liked the discipline model and progressive discipline process. It reminded me on how discipline should be handled. I have seen the progressive discipline model in action and when it is was done right it worked.
Once again the speech was a little nerve racking, but I got through it. I missed a lot of my introduction because I got flustered. After I got over my initial nervousness the rest was smooth. It flowed pretty good and I had a good closing. Now I know that I need a little more practice with my speech before jumping into it. I know that I can do better on it so I will use my experience on the last two speeches to improve on the next one.
Effective negotiations was an eye opener in the aspect that I do a lot of the technics that were taught, but didn’t know I was using them. I am defiantly more integrative then distributive. I like to build that relationship then to “burn the bridge” with people. I try to make sure that everyone is happy with the out come of the discussion and that everyone got what they wanted. Sometimes it’s not possible and I feel like I have failed when that happen.
Continuous improvement was a little difficult to wrap my head around at times. As soon as I thought I had a grasp on it I would get the question that was posed wrong. System 1 and system 2 thinking was like that, but by the end of the lesson I had a better understanding of the...

Reflective Thinking Essay #3

...The most significant thing I learned last week was that I need to be more prepare for my briefings. I thought I could go in front of the class and just wing it without any practice or a dry run. I was mistaken; I made it through the topic of CMSAF James Cody’s view on the Enlisted Performance Report but I struggled. I had to back track and try to hit points that I had missed. During the briefing is when my déjà vu moment was. It reminded me of my senior year when I would give briefings in my speech class and I would normally just go out there and wing it. I learned that if you want to be a good speaker that you have to rehearse these things. If not I will go out there and get lost in my speech and lose track out where I am due to nerves. The briefings have been the most frustrating for me not because I am scared to talk in front of the class it was because I was unprepared. I have learned that if you want to be a good leader/speaker that you have to be prepared for any situation that is thrown your way. Whether it has to deal with a troop being late for work, a troop with personal problems, or just being able to communicate with your troops. You need to be prepared for the situations mentally and physically to be a good leader. That is what I learned in class last week and I hope to improve myself to become a good speaker and...

Ssk12 Assisgnment

...Two reflective entries Reflective entry 1: New Beginnings Deciding to attend university as a mature age student was a decision I did not take lightly. I am working towards furthering my education in order to gain the necessary qualifications that will help me in my future business endeavour. I have found that after so long out of the education system it has been a difficult transition juggling study and work. The first units that were chosen for me in study period 2, I thought were difficult to understand having never written an essay before and without the knowledge or know how, I was not able to complete these units. SSK12 has given me a good understanding of what it takes at becoming a university student and in particular the skills on writing essays. As I have mentioned previously up until study period 2, I had never written an essay and did not fully comprehend how important the set out of a university essay was. Choosing an Essay Question was an important part of my learning in week 6 because this has now given me the beginning step in writing a university essay using the correct format. I am feeling a lot more confident when approaching the subject of essays as I now understand and have the knowledge on the procedure in completing an academic essay and what is required. I now know that by firstly choosing a question will then help you to with your thesis and this in turn will give you your main idea and sets the way in which to write your......
