Reflective Journal 2
As we move into research and how to validate your information that was researched we have developed some questions. What do you think when you read claims in a newspaper r magazine that seems to be unsubstantiated. I first take a look at the source and subject to ensure I understand what I am reading. The source will determine how I view the credit of the paper or magazine, some source are always subjective. The title or subject really defines how I will receive the information, will I be open minded or close mind because of the source. News is supposed to be informative data or information for the reader, so he or she can make an educated decision. Now a lot of sources are subjective all they do is cloud the readers mind with speculations, no facts.
Researching is the most important factor to ensure your reader receives the facts or your particular subject. Finding multiple sources is my method of research so I can use the compare method. I used websites, newspaper and when possible pass research papers to get a better understanding of what I am researching. What are the challenges in doing research? Identify what are facts and what are someone’s personnel thoughts. Some sources have a combination of both within their sources, so being able to pull the facts out becomes that much more difficult.
What are some tips that you think will help you and others in conducting research? First thing is to always use creditable sources that back up your research. Do not use sites such as Wikipedia or any other site that are consider non creditable. Second thing is always ask two or three other people about the sources you have chosen for your research. They can help you understand if your sources are creditable and gives you what your need for an excellent paper. Third suggestion is to start working on your paper as soon as...

...Behavioral Blend For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. Now if I do what I do not want, I agree with the law, that it is good. So now it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing (Romans 7:15-24 New Revised Standard Version). As I ponder over the significance of knowing and understanding my behavioral blend, I sought an answer through my most trusted source, the Bible. When I read the aforementioned scripture, I was able to gain some understanding of what it truly meant to understand myself. In my interpretation, the quote from Romans Chapter 7 affirms that if we do not know and recognize our own actions, then we will continue to commit the same erroneous acts. Through my exploration and research over the course of the past two weeks, I have been given the opportunity to take a look at my personality type. According to Carbonell (2005), behavioral blend can be defined as a behavior or temperament. There are four types (D, I, S, and C), and each type is combined or blended in order to exemplify an original personality. I have discovered that my behavioral blend is CIS. In the process of understanding this fact, I have learned quite a bit about myself – I prefer......

Reflective Journal 2 - Memory

...I love the topic of Memory. It is because I cannot memorize many things. In the past, I failed in Chinese History and History every time. The reason why I failed those subjects was not I had not done any revision but I cannot memorized them. No matter how many times I revise the histories, I would forget them when I revise another period of histories. Those years, I have tried many different methods to overcome the problem. I think visual imagery is rather effective than others. Visual imagery is represent ‘visualize words’. This mean using images to repave the word when you are memorizing something. People may ask ‘histories are already image-like, so how to visualize histories?’. It is still hard for me to memorize history stories by just depend on books. However, I found that it is better for me to remember some after watching the movies about the histories. Therefore, I will suggest that as to practice visual imagery method more effectively, moving images together with related sounds are essential. These items can help us memorize things more easily (from my experience). I think it is also one of the reason why some psychologist would say that instrumental music can help memorize. Several effective encoding methods are mentioned in the lecture. Apart from visual imagery, elaboration is also a good method. This method is the most useful method in learning Mathematics for girls. Most girl are not talented in Mathematics, at least I am one of them. It is impossible......

Reflective Journal 2 Week 4

...Michael Louis Mitchell Reflective Journal 2 English 115 Dr. Rachel Deluise 29 October, 2013 When I read articles in newspapers, magazines and websites, sometimes I am frustrated due to the lack of factual information. I feel the writer has a responsibility to the readers that they have completed as much research prior to going to print. I know many readers who rely on their favorite journalist simply assume the information they are reading is accurate. Information that is unsubstantiated can lead to debates, lawsuits and someone losing their job. Some authors will update the in the next issue but often times it is too late and the damage is done. The way I try and approach what I am writing is to first know if I already have knowledge about what I am researching. I ask myself if I know anything about the subject and where I can find more information about the matter. I also try to find anyone I know personally who may have extensive knowledge or experience on the subject. This can also lead to additional sources. I also gather information from my local library and use the internet. Once I have gathered all of my sources. I then go through each of what I had gathered and determine what will go into my paper. We can face many challenges when it comes to research. Very little information may be available on the internet or libraries. Experts may be unreachable by phone or deceased....

Professional Journal in Nursing

...[pic] Profesional journals are peer-reviewed, checked for factuality, consistency, citing relevant work, and drawing appropriate conclusions supported by the data. The concept of profesional journal as a means of developing reflective practice has become a popular topic in classrooms, professional journals, conferences, and continuing education programs (Boud & Walker, 1998). Many other names for profesional journal appear in nursing literature, including log, journaling, narrative pedagogy, dialogue journals, reflective practice, and reflective writing. Whatever people says, reflective profesional journal requires writing, a great deal of it. However, journals are an integral part of the teaching/learning in many nursing programs as well as in allied health programs and education in general. Planning, critical thinking and reflecting are the pillars of the postgraduate study, managerial work and continuing professional development (CPD). “It is not sufficient simply to have an experience in order to learn. Without reflecting upon this experience it may quickly be forgotten, or its learning potential lost. It is from the feelings and thoughts emerging from this reflection that generalizations or concepts can be generated. And it is generalizations that allow new situations to be tackled effectively.” (Gibbs 1988) Reflection is a key element in any successful planning....
