How would you define research? What is the purpose of business research? How has the Internet changed the quality and quantity of research?

Kapil C. Mathur, MBA

Research can be defined as the search for knowledge, or as any systematic investigation, with an open mind, to establish novel facts, solve new or existing problems, prove new ideas, or develop new theories. Research can be divided into different steps in order to understand the whole process more in depth. The first step towards conducting research is to observe. Consistst of the subject area of ones interest and following that subject area to conduct subject related research. The subject area should not be randomly chosen since it requires reading a vast amount of literature on the topic to determine the gap in the literature the researcher intends to narrow. A keen interest in the chosen subject area is advisable. The research will have to be justified by linking its importance to already existing knowledge about the topic. The next step is to create a hypothesis. This is where you create a testable prediction of outcome between 2 or more variables. The third step is to gather data which supports yor hypothesis. The fourth step is to analyze the data you have gathered. This involves breaking down the individual pieces of data in order to draw conclusions about it. the last two steps go somewhat hand-in-hand. These two steps are testing your hypothesis and drawing a conclusion from your findings.

Business research is an important management activity that helps companies determine which products will be most profitable for companies to produce. Several steps are necessary when conducting business research; each step must be thoroughly reviewed to ensure that the best decision is made for the company. These steps include: Product analysis, Market analysis, financial analysis, competitor…...

This week the calculations of the data collected from the data set samples of service and interest for Century National Bank will be the determining factor of the hypothesis. The independent clause is if the required services on interest earning accounts reduce and the dependent clause is the quantity of interest earning accounts will increase, thus leading to an increase in the bank’s revenue. The information gathered from the articles and data provide supporting details or not supporting details toward the hypothesis. The articles used discuss facts about high yield interest earning accounts, concerns about minimum required balance requirements and fees on accounts. Another articles used explained the research by Lin, and the relation between the customer’s expectations and perceptions of the quality of service prior to and post purchase and how it affects the banks. Research from 60 accounts provide results of the customers who have interest earning accounts, the services used, and how many people use the services. Charts demonstrate a clearer understanding of the data collected. Ethical concerns are important when a company changes policies. The oath describes the importance of practicing nursing profession truthfully and faithfully. It explains the importance of patient safety. It has influenced my trend in nursing by making me more aware of the patient care I am providing. The oath has still remained compulsory in present time for all nursing student who become registered professional nurse after graduation. The CLC exercises in this course are designed to give you a better understanding of collaborative and interpersonal skills need to work with others successfully. Your grade for each CLC assignment is based partly on the quality of the work submitted and partly on the demonstration of group dynamic and “group think.” * How the CLC Works The instructor will assign students to teams during Topic 1 in preparation for the CLC assignment that is due in Topic 3. Each team will be assigned a color code. Your team will use the CLC forum, located in the Discussion Forum folder, to communicate with each other while working on the assignment. Your team’s CLC forum can be identified by the color code that was assigned to your team. Tips to Get Started 1) Get to know your team members and their individual skills (what they do well and what they prefer to do when working in groups). 2) Establish a “To Do” list for the group. 3) Establish expectations (how and when to communicate, who will do what aspects of the project) and a timeline in which the group must complete specific tasks. 4) Organize your work into sections, ensuring that all items listed on the guidelines are accounted for. 5) Communicate with your group members often to ensure your group is on track. 6) Assemble......

...5 DQ 2 Statistics is required at each stage of research beginning from planning to the end, in order to advance scientifically significance and to acquire dependable results. The use of inappropriate statistical method, technique and the analysis basis time and cost lost and most prominently thinking in the way of scientific ethics, it provides destruction to science and humanity. Even if the study is sensibly scheduled to conduct as a result of application with errors, the misrepresentative results might be attained. That leads other errors who proceeds as reference to those studies.[Ercan, 2007]. Some Examples of Misleading Statistics This is not the similar thing as saying that all women are better drivers than men, though many people, by the look of some insurance company advertisements, look to think that is exactly what it means. In fact it simply shows that, on average, a woman between the ages of 20 and 65 who drives a car will have had fewer accidents than a man of the same age, driving the same car. The data is drawn almost exclusively from insurance company statistics. It may not, however, be accurate, as few people bother to alert insures if they clip the mirror or scratch the paint. Here is another example of distorting statistics: Toddlers Who Attend Pre-school Exhibit Aggressive Behavior: A study was conducted on four-year-olds, comparing those who went to preschool and socialized with other children, with those that stayed at home with their mothers. In its exemplary form, it is based on universal intellectual values that transcend subject matter divisions: clarity, accuracy, precision, consistency, relevance, sound evidence, good reasons, depth, breadth, and fairness.” (The Critical Thinking Community, 2011). The benefits of critical thinking include confidence, justice, mental improvements, stay open-minded, integrity, courage, empathy and perseverance. There are two characteristics of Critical thinkers; strong sense and weak sense approaches to critical thinking. The weak sense tends to be a self-centeredness, selfish way of thinking that uses lower-level skills of argumentation, and attempt to make unreasonable thinking look reasonable and reasonable thinking look unreasonable, according to our readings. This form of thinking can be easily seen in unethical lawyers, prosecutors, and politicians who are more concerned with winning than with being fair. From the data collected one can interpret that usually people over the age of forty tend to have expensive more extravagant cars because they have already established there careers and lives. Whereas, younger people tend to be in college and do not have jobs or having jobs that pay minimum wages and limits the amount of money that they can pay each month for the car payment. The survey allows us to determine this because age, occupation and household income are asked as part of the survey with this information one can see a correlation between the three questions. The remaining questions are still relevant in the sense that people with a higher income do not worry as much about gas mileage and want the extra features in there car although not all but with most this trend is noticeable.
