...Week 2: E-text Individual Assignments ACC/400 Week 2: E-text Individual Assignments Financial Accounting: Tools for Business Decision Making, 4th edition Chapter 8: Question 3 3. What are the essential features of the allowance method of accounting for bad debts? According to Kimmel, Weygandt, & Kieso (2007), the allowance method of accounting has three essential features: 1. Estimated uncollectible accounts receivable are matched against revenues within the same accounting period in which they are recorded. 2. Estimated uncollectibles are debited to Bad Debts Expense and credited to Allowance for Doubtful Accounts via an adjusting entry at the end of each period. 3. Actual uncollectibles are debited to Allowance for Doubtful Accounts and credited to Accounts Receivable at the time the specific account is written off as uncollectible. Chapter 8: Question 4 4. Lauren Anderson cannot understand why the cash realizable value does not decrease when an uncollectible account is written off under the allowance method. Clarify this point for Lauren. Cash realizable value does not change/decrease because the decrease in cash realizable value is when estimated uncollectibles are recognized/accounted for in an adjusting entry. Write-off of uncollectible accounts reduces accounts receivable and allowance for doubtful accounts by an equal amount. Chapter 8: Exercise E8-5 a) Determine the total estimated uncollectibles. |Age of Accounts...

#### Bcom275 Week #3 Individual Assignment - Article Rebuttal

... not ready to ref in the National Football League. In the article one gentleman says, “We have a lot of respect for our officials, but we felt the officiating was not in line with our expectations.” (Walder & Hutchinson, 2012). They speak very briefly of previous experience and in fact say numerous times that three days is not enough for any person to become a certified ref. That is a very arguable statement as three days for one person could be plenty of time and they could be the best ref that the league has ever seen. Or three days could be enough to only get through the rule book not giving the individual any on field training. Meanwhile, the “academy” that trained Easley for his part-time gig as a football official said he should have never been on the pro field (Walder & Hutchinson, 2012). I have found that in controversial subjects of any sort the writer or speaker must be very knowledgeable in what they are speaking about or they sound like the one not knowing what is going on. With that the speaker or writer must be able to answer any question that may come up about the matter or be willing to say I do not know the answer to that but I will be happy to research it. #### Week 3 Eco372 Individual Assignment

...Individual News Article Daniella Baca ECO/372 October 21, 2013 Dr. Darryl Baker Individual News Article A factor that consumers must consider today is the impact that interest rates have on the United States economy. Economists believed that the housing market would begin to heal, auto sales would hit a record high, and the government would begin running a surplus. However, the only correct prediction was the rise in auto sales. Auto sales rose tremendously, and was a good sign of the economy slowly recovering. Even though the government has full control of the economy their actions greatly affect the economy. In this paper I will analyze the effect that interest rates have on the economy and how aggregated supply and demand is affected. The U.S. economy remains weak and the government has considered tapering. Tapering would mean that the government would have to reduce its asset purchase program. This process would have to be slow and gradual so that the markets will not be affected. Economists believe that tapering would result in an increase in interest rates and could have bad effects on the economy. The first part of the economy to be affected would be mortgage rates. The housing market is critical to a thriving economy and higher interest rates would slow it down drastically. For this reason tapering would be risky to the economy. Higher interest rates will hurt everyone except the investors who rely on interest income. Higher interest rates...

... up leaving. The entire play focuses on the conflict between Willy’s tainted relationships with Biff. Biff caught Willy having an affair on Linda with a woman in a motel room. This is the action that caused Willy’s falling out with Biff several years prior. Before Biff caught Willy cheating on Linda, Biff adored his father. He believed everything he said and just wanted to make him proud. At one point in the play Biff even told his father that he was going to throw a touchdown just for him during a big football game. Everything changed after he caught him cheating. Willy is unable to understand the choices Biff made and criticizes him several times during the play. “How can he find himself on a farm? Is that a life? A farmhand? In the beginning, when he was young, I thought, well, a young man, it’s good for him to tramp around, take a lot of different jobs. But it’s more than ten years now and he has yet to make thirty-five dollars a week! (Act 1).” The story reaches its climax when Willy finally decides to end his life. This proves many things to the Loman family and sheds light on many fears that Willy had exclaimed earlier in the play. The need to be well liked and well known was very important to Willy and not many people came to his funeral. Just as he was unable to acknowledge that he was just an average man, he was not as well liked, as he believed he was either. Biff is the only character that wants something more than the rest of the Loman family and...

(c) State the quick rule for a significant correlation and explain its limitations. (d) What sums are needed to calculate a correlation coefficient? (e) What are the two ways of testing a correlation coefficient for significance? Answer: a) The correlation analysis identifies the relationship between two variables of interest. The regression analysis uses one or more independent variables (x) to predict the value of the dependent variable (y) using a scatter plot to view the relationships to each other. b) The correlation coefficient reveals the degree of association between independent and dependent variables. The values are between r = -1 and r = 1 and show if the strength is negative or positive. c) |r| >2/n This is the quick 5% rule for significance. It is based on the fact that two-tail t-values for α = .05 usually are not far from 2. The quick rule is exact for ν = 60 and does not work well if the ɳ is too small. d) The sum of x and the sum of y and multiply each value x-value by its corresponding y-value to find the sum. e) Test for zero correlation: t=r n-21- r2 The critical value for a correlation coefficient: ra = tata2+ n-2 12.48 In the following regression, X = weekly pay, Y = income tax withheld, and n = 35 McDonald’s employees.
