In order, to continue to work within the Circle of Influence throughout all areas of my life, I find that this week I needed to pursue the idea of Rescripting. This concept is important, and hard, because it forces you to give deep thought to who you are and who you want to be. As Convey states in The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Rescripting allows us to be “… response-able to use our imagination and creativity to write new ones (scripts) that are more effective, more congruent with our deepest values and with the correct principles that give our values meaning”.

I would really like to move into a management position within our organization. I do feel however, that I am lacking a major quality that I feel makes leaders effective. That quality is how to control your attitude during tuff situations. I have a tendency to react negatively when situations are not going my way or when others are not accepting my opinion. I find that many times I’m working with one of the mangers within the group and they are giving me suggestions on how to do my job based on answers they have received from someone else. I am aggravated during these instances and feel as though I’m not respected for the job that I do. I’m starting to think it has something to do with my attitude. I see that at times my voice can be too stern and my physical displays of disgust usually amount to what happens at home when my 4-year old doesn’t get her way.
This attitude has probably been effecting me for some time, but in the last few weeks it has become very noticeable to me and I’ve been told by a few of my co-workers that people have made comments to them about my tone and how I’ve come across during meetings. This is not my intent. I want people to view me as effective and approachable. I want to be looked at as an expert in my field and have my word taken

Great Man

...Great-Man Theory Defining a Leader Omar Quesada Webber International University Introduction As I have read about it, a particular interest in my has been raising about the wonderful way many people has utilized their natural abilities as a medium of reunion and leadership. I found a string link between this gifts or skills these men had and their particular behavior in the time they lived. I would like to talk about the special characteristics that had to be present; more specific the building process of a divine individual, a prophet capable of guiding its people and the importance they have represented to humanity, whether realistic or not, since the theory has been around ever since. Great-Man Theory In order to get to know more about the theory of the great man, we should not ignore that this is a theory based on leadership. So, what is leadership? Scholars have defined leadership as “ the process of social influence in which one person can enlist the aid and support of others in the accomplishment of a common task”. To my personal beliefs, leadership is: a medium to an end, it is a very particular tool with which gifted individuals in the interpersonal field can either alone or together command, guide, and lead another group of people towards completing an established goal by cheering, supporting and setting a relation with the subordinates based on a strong dose of trustworthiness. Now, the Great-Man theory of leadership according to...

...Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders Nature and purposes The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders is a reference work consulted by psychiatrists, psychologists, physicians in clinical practice, social workers , medical and nursing students, pastoral counselors, and other professionals in health care and social service fields. The book's title is often shortened to DSM , or an abbreviation that also indicates edition, such as DSM-IV-TR, which indicates fourth edition, text revision of the manual, published in 2000. The DSM-IV-TR provides a classification of mental disorders, criteria sets to guide the process of differentialdiagnosis , and numerical codes for each disorder to facilitate medical record keeping. The stated purpose of the DSM is threefold: to provide "a helpful guide to clinical practice"; "to facilitate research and improve communication among clinicians and researchers"; and to serve as "an educational tool for teaching psychopathology." The multi-axial system The third edition of DSM , or DSM-III , which was published in 1980, introduced a system of five axes or dimensions for assessing all aspects of a patient's mental and emotional health. The multi-axial system is designed to provide a more comprehensive picture of complex or concurrent mental disorders. ...CHAPTER 1- INTRODUCTION- The fascination of Indians for fair skin is well known. As several social commentators have pointed out, if there is any doubt about this, then people could just take a look at the matrimonial column of any newspaper. The preference for fair (or gori in the vernacular) brides screams at you from such columns. Social commentators go on to say that this preference is perhaps a hangover from the British colonial days, when the ruling colonizers, who were fair-skinned, had a higher status than the darker-skinned locals. Several social gatherings, clubs etc. were earmarked as being 'for whites only'. Perhaps the long years of colonial occupation have ingrained this fascination for white skin in the psyche of Indians. Or perhaps it is the fact that the traditionally higher castes in the country were of a somewhat fairer complexion than the lower castes. India Today, a popular magazine which did a story on fairness creams, mentioned that even the gods supposedly lamented their dark complexion as in a myth in which the popular dark-skinned god Krishna sang plaintively, 'Radha kyoon gori, main kyoon kala?' (Why is Radha so fair while I am dark?). The feature also mentioned that the ancient Ayurvedic sage Charaka wrote thousands of years ago about herbs that could help make the skin fair. This is what Sudarshan Singh, a brand manager with Nivea, has to say: 'Whitening emerges as the prime need. Since Indian men spend a lot of time outdoors, they desire to reverse...
