...Research: Topics with Explanation English 215 Strayer University January 19, 2014 Research: Topics with Explanation The following three topics I chose for this assignment are “Should transportation security (TSA) regulations be changed”, “Should regulations regarding the use of cellular phones while driving be standardized?”, and “Should DUI (driving under the influence) laws be changed?” Each one of these topics will mention the type of public, a preliminary thesis statement, and references that will support some of these ideas. The first topic, “Should transportation security (TSA) regulations be changed”. We all remember the incidents with 9/11 and the security policies in our transportation system which is imperative to many travelers by land or air. Therefore, our audience for this research is anyone who travels. The nation’s transportation system has to ensure freedom of movement for people and commerce. The thesis statement to this topic is “Security issues about the transportation system”. The second topic “Should regulations regarding the use of cell phones while driving be standardized”. Anyone can have an accident when engaged in such activities that make them irresponsible drivers. The thesis statement most suitable for this subject is “The use of cellular phones while driving brings destruction to drivers, and it can be as dangerous as drinking under the influence while other laws like distracted driving might arguably allow police to charge......

...Research Topics with Explanation Aneshea Johnson Professor Holly Sprinkle English- Research and Writing 7/13/2012 In this paper, I will discuss three topics that I have an interest in writing about for this English class. The first topic that I have chosen is to critique is “Should citizens be allowed to carry a concealed weapon to their work place”. The reason that I have chosen this topic is because I am against guns and carrying them to work should not legal. I think that it is okay for people to own guns when it is for hunting purposes and I do understand that people need to protect their house-holds, but the bad outweighs the good in my opinion. The audience for this paper would be law makers, and fellow citizens who agree and disagree with me. My thesis statement for the paper would be guns are weapons that people who are not properly trained to use them should already not be able to own them, so these same people should not be able to take them to their place of employment. The second topic that I am interested in writing about is “Should children of parents who do not allow them to be vaccinated be allowed to attend public school”. The reason that I have chosen this topic is because I would like to research the topic and form an opinion because I currently do not know enough of the pros and cons of being vaccinated. My primary audience would be the school boards and parents of children who attend public......

Research Topic

...To: From: Date: April 9, 2015 Subject: ENG 114 Research Topic I intend to research the different career opportunities in nursing. Nursing is one of the fastest growing industries, not just in the US, but worldwide. Nurses promote health, prevent disease, and help patients cope with illness. They have a unique scope of practice and can practice independently. The field has a wide range of career opportunities, ranging from entry-level practitioner to doctoral-level researcher. Not only is the industry in need of new and experienced general nurses, the job outlook is diverse and interesting. A person can choose to take their career path as a nurse in hundreds of different directions and create an individual path that works with their own lifestyle. Becoming a registered nurse requires a longer school commitment- usually four years. However, some of the nation’s top nurses are earning more than $100,000 annually, and the average annual income for a RN in North Carolina is $60,030, as of May 2014. Through my research, I intend to show the many rewarding career opportunities that nursing has to offer; with the right education, proper training and determination, nursing can be the perfect career choice. ...head: WEEK 2 RESEARCH TOPICS WITH EXPLANATION ASSIGNMENT 1 Week 2 Research topics with explanation Assignment Topic 1: Should changes be made to the regulations for foods that are served in public schools? Due to a continued rise nationwide in obesity among children and adolescents standards need to be implemented for foods being served in our nation’s public schools. As peers, parents and educators we have an obligation to our children. Implementing new regulations would immediately benefit our youth by improving nutrition and health standards. This will also benefit our society by attempting to prevent future health diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, cancer and osteoporosis all of which are associated with childhood obesity and focus on future education. A change to food in our public school systems will also provide a positive effect on the economy. Obesity burdens the health care system, strains economic resources, and has far reaching social consequences. Through continued community involvement as well as the state and local government we can change the course of our children’s future. ...Running Head: Research Topics Should taxes on people making over $250,000 a year be changed? Should Transportation Security (TSA) regulations be changed? Should regulations for home schools be changed? I have decided to research the question “Should taxes on people making over $250,000 a year be changed?”. I believe capital gains tax rules should be modified for people making over $250,000 annually. I will be gearing this discussion toward our legislators who decide on these laws. The only way progress will be made in our tax system and our National Debt is if we have a dramatic change in our tax revenue. We must get rid of tax loopholes and make taxation equal. The percentage of capital gains tax should progress at the same percentage rate as the individual or couple’s tax rate. Currently, we have very strict TSA standards but I would like to make a case regarding the question “Should Transportation Security (TSA) regulations be changed?”. Currently, I believe that when an individual who is doing the same type of inspection over and over, day after day, they open up themselves to be complacent. When we look at the inspection integrity of our cargo transportation and passenger movement systems in the US, we cannot allow our system of inspections to create complacency. I would write this as an external process improvement suggestion for the TSA. I believe the TSA should have several changes of workstations each day to lessen the level of complacency that......

...Qiyana Wallace Ms. Garrett Composition II Sec. 35 March 13, 2013 Domestic Terrorism in 9/11 Attacks For my research paper this semester, I would like to narrow my topic to domestic terrorism involvement in the series of attack that occurred on 9/11. There are many academic journals, live interviews, newspaper articles, books, and numerous websites that can help me do my paper. Even though this may be tedious, I am very interested in government affairs and domestic tragedies. I have always felt a close tie to the 9/11 attacks. I was a resident of New York, New York in 2001. During the attack of the Twin Towers in Manhattan, I witnessed the whole thing as I went to work with my mom at the JP Morgan Chase Headquarters. Even though I was only six at the time, I understood the significance of the attack. So from a young age I have been interested on the topic. A few years ago, while watching a 9/11 documentary, several times they had mentioned domestic terrorists’ role in the events that occurred that day. Now that I have the chance to do a thorough research on the topic, I would like to. While researching, I hope to find a stand in the argument. In reading numerous amount of credible sources I think I would find how big domestic terrorism really is in America. I believe I will strengthen my knowledge in the government and its policies. In researching the 9/11 attacks, I think many sources will show how propaganda may have played a factor. Lastly, I think I will see......

...North South University Assignment Course: ENG 105 Faculty: AQB Section: 01 Subject: Research Topics Submitted by: Md. Rafid Imran ID: 1411312630 Date: 14th June, 2014 1 Blues, a creation of slavery Blues music generally invoke pictures of misery, suffering and woeful emotions in a person’s mind. Misery that prevailed in the lives of the African-American slaves from the 19th century Deep-South of The United States. Extreme sufferings in the life of those slaves of the plantation era helped create this raw music in forms of chanting, rhythms and mere work songs. But there is a lot more to this particular genre. In over a hundred years, blues music has developed with several exotic and ethnic influences. No other genre of music is seen to connect or deal with human emotions as much as blues does. It is thus natural to ponder why and how blues came to exist as such a down to earth music, apart from all the other types. 2 Is there anything called ‘absolute selflessness’? The world has always praised those individuals who gave up selfish reasons and stood up for humanity. Thus this quality or attribute is of being selfless, setting your life for the betterment of others. So, what is selflessness? Is it actually what we think it is? Or is it just an altered reflection of selfishness. When we look at it deeply, isn’t selflessness just a key to attaining certain satisfactions? Human beings are wired to reach the one and only goal which is self satisfaction......

Newport News shipbuilding recurring racial and ethical issues regarding treatment of non-white workers. Topic #2. Consistent questionable treatment of employees at Newport News Shipyard. Topic #3. Preferential treatment of white employees over black employees at Newport News Shipyard. I worked at Newport News Shipyard in 2008 as a security guard and unlike recent cases state, treatment showed all workers showing disrespect and racial based jokes at the other group’s expense. A noticeable difference was the education in which the black work force lacked over white counterparts. Such a large workforce with considerable educational and historical backgrounds can lead to tension, especially when a group feels at a disadvantage. I plan on interviewing some of the management staff, equal opportunity representatives and possible employees in relation to the proposed topics of interest. There are few articles regarding the topics listed, however research conducted by interviewing employees and staff at the shipyard should and will yield the proper amount of needed evidence to conduct a thorough paper. This topic is of interest to me, because I would like to delve deeper into the organizational and psychological aspect to see if only people of non-white origin have wanted to search for a monetary gain and if it should be the company or the......

...'You Just Get Blocked'. Teenage Drinkers: Reckless Rebellion or Responsible Reproduction? Authors: Johnson, Peter1 p.johnson@qub.ac.uk Source: Children & Society. Sep2011, Vol. 25 Issue 5, p394-405. 12p. Document Type: Article Subject Terms: *ALCOHOLISM -- Psychological aspects *ALCOHOLISM -- Risk factors *ATTITUDE (Psychology) *CULTURE *FOCUS groups *SOCIOLOGY *STEREOTYPES (Social psychology) *AFFINITY groups *NARRATIVES *ADOLESCENCE Geographic Terms: GREAT Britain Author-Supplied Keywords: adolescence alcohol childhood children's culture youth Abstract: The purpose of this study is to challenge the discourse that underage drinking is inevitably 'deviant'. Rather than imposing an adults lens, the article draws upon focus-group interviews with 14-15 year olds. The meaningful role of drinking is explored, along with the capability of peer cultures to manage some alcohol-related 'risks'. The data suggest that the prioritization of adults constructs over teenage subject experiences appears somewhat misplaced since teenage norms are not complete subversions of the adult world. Apparent transgression is better understood as alternative socialization, since teenage peer groups creatively reproduce the wider culture.
