Responsibility We are held accountable for our actions and deeds. Our character, behavior, and thought process defines not only our personal responsibility but also who we are. It is not what we do; it is how we do it. It is not what we say, but it is how we say it. A quality education and career training are sound investments for a bright future, an illustrious career, and a successful life. Individuals who complete more years of education have greater access to higher paying jobs-such as management, professional, and related occupations than those with fewer years of education. “Where one goes to college can have effects on one's future education, occupation, and income” (Karen, 2002, p. 193).

Self-discipline, sacrifice, patience, perseverance, and positive attitude should be sufficient motivating factors, and a reminder that a good education pays off eventually by reaping the fruits of hard work. Physical well-being, personal wellness, and good health are part of personal responsibility. “Participation in physical activity should remain a high priority to facilitate maintenance of healthy body weights” (Liebman, 2005, p. 95).
Personal drive, ambition, and desire to succeed are necessary attributes that help in overcoming any obstacles. Volunteering, part of personal responsibility requires time, and flexibility to help less fortunate members of the community, and may work in homeless shelters, children’s, and nursing homes, hospitals, churches, correctional institutions, and schools.
Learning from our past can help avoid repetition of mistakes in the future. Responsibility means doing the right thing and not blaming others for our actions. People who drink and drive risk getting stopped by the police. They should call a cab or make plans to ride with a friend. “Alternative transportation methods are recommended to those that drink without having to drive. Ride service programs include taxis, private cars, buses and subways” (Jones, & Lacey, 2001, p. 133). Most professional associations have established guidelines also known as the code of conduct that members must observe. Ethical codes of conduct for doctors, teachers, sports teams’ coaches, employers, and lawyers ensure that desired results are attained because the professionals must conduct themselves within set guidelines. Sport team coaches must prove that they can win matches, and teachers must ensure students get good grades. Doctors, nurses, and others in the medical field are bound by a code of ethics that oversees efficiency and professionalism in medicine.

The difference between success and failure means having well executed strategies that will lay a foundation of a career path in information technology. Motivation from my family confirmed my decision to go back to school, and complete my education easy. I am responsible for the path that I want to take in life. I have to make informed decisions that will create broader possibilities for a better career. Attending classes, punctuality, and researching the campus library for applicable information will help in timely completion of assignments. Ask questions when in doubt or do not understand, and participate in team assignments. The experience gained through education and participation of team members’ assignments will prepare me for the real-world applications. Members of a team must work together to complete assignments or projects on time. Having adequate time to complete assignments may mean waking up earlier, staying up late, and rearranging my daily schedules. Communicating with my instructor, letting him know when I have difficulty, and informing him of the progress will reveal areas of study that need improvement and help me achieve my goals and reach my target faster. I will look for internship in companies that provide information technology services. The firsthand experience gained through this kind of interaction will prepare me to apply my skills in that career field. I will also start preparing my resume to reflect my area of study. Personal responsibility determines the outcome of most events because we have to make tough decisions to fit the circumstances in our lives. Personal pride and feelings must be set aside because the common goal for team members is to achieve results.

...According to the dictionary, the definition for responsibility is, a state or fact of having a duty to deal with, the state or fact of being accountable or to blame for something, and the opportunity or ability to act independently and make decisions without authorization. Personal responsibility is crucial to team building and collaborative success. When one takes personal responsibility, they are admitting their responsibility for choices made. While not everyone’s commitments are the same, personal responsibility is a requirement when working in a team. In order to succeed, the team needs positive communication, commitment, and accountability. The first, most important requirement, when working in a team is positive communication. Having open communication, by sharing ideas and confirming tasks with positive feedback, fosters healthy communication. Also, it’s always a smart idea to make sure there is a clear understanding of everyone’s position on a team, that way everyone is on the “same page”. Lastly, respecting one another is crucial in supporting positive communication. Making a commitment to ones self or something, let alone a team, can be extremely difficult at times. One way of showing respect and commitment is to always be on time, and being prepared. Also, let it be known to the team that, availability will not be an issue, and whatever it takes to get the job done, will be done. Taking ownership gives a team relief in knowing the job will get done and will alleviate...

...Devin Liggons May 4, 2014 Responsibility Essay Reynolds, 1st period Responsibility is defined as the opportunity or ability to act independently and make decisions without authorization. This is used plenty in everyday life but many people fail to have this quality. I feel at times or in certain situations I’m not as responsible as should be but all I can do is learn from past experiences and press forward. I do plan on having a career in the military in the future and im not sure which route I would take. There could be college first and be a commissioned officer or I could enlist until retirement and finally enlist and go to college while in the military. I am aware there are more paths I could choose but in all of them comes responsibility. There are several times where you will encounter situations to where if you have no sense of responsibility your life could be lost. I hate it so much for the three victims who were killed in the car accident about a year ago. Just three innocent people now gone because no one was responsible enough to say no to alcohol or not get in the car. I feel responsibility Is taking what is in front of you and making a simple choice, basically being responsible requires a lot of thinking. You cant take things as a joke and maturity level has to be different also. When someone is responsible, they are accountable. It means that they can be trusted to complete tasks efficiently and on time whether it has to do with their job or their life duties...

Responsibility

...Responsibility is being able to acknowledge and recognize that an outcome happened because of a choice. Responsibility is also accepting accountability for a particular choice. Once a person learns self-control, and can take blame rather than place blame, he or she can become a happy and successful person. Usually, everyone is capable of being responsible for his or her choices. As much as we might often see responsibility as a burden, it is one of the most important character traits in life. In most cases, there is no other person to blame for what your life is beside yourself. One example of being responsible is going to bed earlier so that I’m rested for school or work. Responsibility involves self-discipline. In order to get to school and work on time, I have to make sure that I go to bed on time. Being irresponsible is easier, less time consuming, and less challenging. Placing blame on others is always the easiest way out of any situation, and it never fixes a problem. When you allow others to be responsible for you, you give away the power to control your life and the freedom to be who you want to be.When I allow myself to stay up late and talk on the phone, I am not fully rested and often late to school. When I am working as a lifeguard in the summer, not being rested can cause me to not perform my duties to the best of my ability. I am less alert, which puts peoples lives in danger. Imagine how great the world would be if everyone would take on one more ounce...

Responsibility

...Personal responsibility includes being responsible for your own actions and well-being. In relation to social roles each person has their own way of doing things while living their own life. The concept is similar for businesses and organizations that work to provide opportunities for others. They have a responsibility in providing products, goods, and services that are fair while serving a purpose. In either scenario, consequences are suffered when failing to do what is right. In many cases, when you neglect to be responsible, others may be affected in ways you may not have anticipated. Responsibility is something most people are taught from an early age. As you get older you take what you learn and use it to your advantage to help you sustain a healthy way of living. This includes taking care of yourself from the inside out while managing emotions and other needs. Sometimes a consequence suffered from a previous event can make it more difficult for an individual to assume personal responsibility on a social scale. Keeping a sound mind and treating others with respect are things you continue to do throughout your life. When you do something wrong a consequence will follow as this is a part of human nature. But, there are actions that can be avoided yet people will do them anyway knowing potential consequences. For instance, youth are taught to stay away from drugs and illegal substances because they can harm the body and even lead to death. Unfortunately, youth are taught consequences...

...The Value of Responsibility Every individual should have some degree of personal responsibility. The definition of responsibility is “We all have the ability to personally respond – ‘response-ability’ (Sklare, 2005, para. 1). The ability to make decisions serving the interests of others as well as your own is also known as responsibility. First, you should be responsible for yourself before you can be responsible for others. Responsibility and Success Each individual has a certain level of responsibility ensuring good behavior and character regardless of his or her upbringing and certain life experiences. “Individual responsibility also includes being accountable for the degree and level of your health, wealth, success and happiness” (Personal Growth, 2005, para. 1). Brian Tracy (2006) explains: Because you have freedom of choice and because you have chosen each and every circumstance of your life, you are completely responsible for all of your success and failure, your happiness and, your present and future. (para. 5). Motivation, success, happiness, and achievement can be received when an individual is responsible. Responsibilities, roles, and functions are some of the roles adults hold whether as a spouse, employee, student, or parent. Issues will always arise while challenging an individual’s character, emotions, and strengths. Proctor suggests a responsible person “should be able to determine what right or wrong, what's good or bad and what's within your control”...

...Summary The relationship between people and the environment has always been about ones level of responsibility. No matter what your belief, each and every one of us is responsible for how we use the resources this planet provides. It is not “my” argument, really, but rather one that I inherited from a long line of familial, neighborly, literary, and scientific ancestors. We could call it “the agrarian argument.” This argument can be summed up in as many ways as it can be made. ...Personal responsibility Albert L. Sanchez Gen 200 Glenda Tali 7/26/13 Personal responsibility Personal responsibility will help you throughout your lifetime whether trying to obtain an education or trying to set personal goals. While at the same time avoiding consequences while successfully trying to get your goals. It is that personal responsibility requires the student to accept full accountability for their actions just like Belva Lockwood stated, "I am very simple-minded, When I wish to do a thing, I know only one way—to keep at it until I get it." (Calabro, 1996). To receive success in school students must own up to responsibility of their goals and dreams. By managing your priorities from time management, goal setting, and of course their consequences these three tools will excel a student to become a success in their careers. Personal responsibility and college success go hand in hand because it needs students to own up for their actions, behavior, and choices and will fully affect their success in their life. Personal responsibility and what it means to me, well it begins from the day our parents showed us what is right and what is wrong. When we are young we will get into trouble and we get disciplined for it and we learn from it. When you do the right thing we get praised for it and we better ourselves. From there on it is engraved in our thoughts through our lifetime sometimes it is common...

...Personal Responsibility and its Success Personal Responsibility and its Success According to Dictionary.com the definition of responsibility is the state or fact of being responsible, answerable, or accountable for something within one's power, control, or management. To achieve academic success, one must possess and accept that personal responsibility is up to them and no one else. Often failure is inevitable along the journey of success, by recognizing mistakes he or she will have a greater chance of achieving their goals. Success can be achieved with determination, support and luck. We tend to point the finger elsewhere and refuse to take responsibility for failures. Personal responsibility is only accepting that you are to blame for your failures. As noted by (Stack n.d.), “When we like how things are turning out, it’s quite easy to say that we are responsible for our success. But when things aren’t so good, we’re so quick to point fingers at other people and place the blame on them” (par. 2). Accepting the failures and downfalls we experience while in school may be one of the hardest things to overcome. People do not like to admit when they fail and make errors. When those failures are apparent, we rationalize “it is not my fault.” These failures can include incomplete homework, missing class, and possibly dropping out. We love to place blame on the uncontrollable when we fail, ultimately we are responsible for our actions. Responsibility can demonstrate where...

...Responsible Productivity Growing up, responsibility was something most young minds feared. The way parents spoke of responsibility, portraying so much struggle and frustration, it was evident most individuals dreaded growing up and acquiring more responsibility than simple chores around the house. That was then. When one experiences what comes with age, things become easier to accept. Through the years one can learn to distinguish the difference between selfishness and independence. The difference is personal responsibility. Differentiating between what is needed and what is preferred for the benefit of oneself is important for an individual’s well being. So, although an individual's responsibility is never ending, it is important to weigh out priorities to support individual success directly correlated with aspects of an individual’s life. Things, which matter the most, must never be at the mercy of things, which matter least (Goethe, Johan Wolfgang Von 1749-1832) Within an individual’s life, generally speaking, there is so much balancing needed. Let us touch base on finding the importance of personal balance. This day and age, people are finding comfort in relieving stress through extracurricular activities, hobbies, and personal relationships. From experience, I have relied on such aspects of my personal life to keep my mind relaxed and fresh. However, one must remember to prioritize commitments to personal endeavors vs. personal responsibility. Learning to balance ‘fun’ and ‘work’...

Responsibility

...Responsibility is the action taken to uphold you on a personal level to let yourself become a better person. Being responsible especially on a personal level is not an easy task as it also deals with ethics, morals and being dependable and the sort in a sense that is a responsibility in its self. My number one responsibility is being responsible for my actions and suffering the consequences if I do something wrong. In the same sense if I do what’s right I will reap the rewards so to say. Morals are normally taught in childhood or in a church setting. Basically it’s like the Bible says, “Whatsoever a man soweth that shall he also reap.” (KJV). In basic terms it is saying if you do good you will get good rewards; If you do bad you will get bad things in return that’s why being responsible is so important. People need to be able to depend on you but if you’re not a very mature responsible person than whom are people going to trust. “Personal responsibility is the willingness to both accept the importance of standards that society establishes for individual behavior and to make strenuous personal efforts to live by those standards. But personal responsibility also means that when individuals fail to meet expected standards, they do not look around for some factor outside themselves to blame. The demise of personal responsibility occurs when individuals blame their family, their peers, their economic circumstances, or their society for their own...

Personal responsibility helps me with academic success by helping me to be responsible for everything that I do that will affect my life as well as my education. Time management is an important personal responsibility to me concerning earning my education. According to Cemaloglu and Filiz (2010 season) “Planning the use of time must be considered a basic skill of the individual who wants to be efficient in every phase and activity of life. Thus, students should determine their purpose and methods and plan their time for the short-, mid-, and long term.
