In the middle of my senior year in high school, I was given the opportunity to go to either Northwest or Mississippi State. I know it seems like everybody has that option, but for me it was different. I had a full ride, but my parents didn’t want me to go just yet. They gave me the pros and cons of going to MSU or Northwest. Although moving out sounded good, other circumstances also applied. Having to support myself financially in every other aspect was the main decider. At the time, I was given these options all I wanted to do was move out and be on my own. Being able to hold a job in another town though is what held me back. Instead of going to Starkville I decided to stay a little closer to home and live with my parents. Because I still live with my parents, I have a good job and don’t have to worry about money. With the money I have been making, I’m able to buy a new vehicle and still feel independent. I plan on keeping the job throughout college, or till I’m through with Northwest. I think that taking it slow into college was the best thing for me to do. I feel like it has taught me to really think about serious decisions before acting on my personal wants. In ten years I see myself having graduated from Mississippi State with a degree in forestry. I also see my self having a family of my own and being able to teach my kids the same lessons my parents have taught

...Haunted Adventures with Princess Red “Can I take a selfie with you”? The wolf howled and nodded. And throughout the entire night before entering the haunted house, Princess Red took selfies with almost every creature there was. But as she was taking her last selfie, they realized it was there turn to go inside. “LET THE FUN BEGIN,” said the man who was leading the groups through the houses. Walking through every single house, Princess Red and her group of friends were spooked by everything and everyone they passed, including the lady in white. But what they didn’t notice that was scarier was the wolf following there every move. After going through all six of the houses, the last stop was the maze. Everyone knows that when it comes to the maze you and your group of friends are on your own. So they each got a map and tried to find their own way out, while still not noticing that the wolf was behind them. Scared as they already were, the wolf tried to snatch Red, but failed when her friend tugged on her arm to tell her, “RED, Hurry up! Let’s get outta here!” “Okay, I’m coming,” Red replied. A couple minutes went by and the group still couldn’t find a way out. But the wolf used that to his advantage. He put up a barrier so that the group couldn’t leave and so he could catch Princess Red one last time. Falling into the wolf’s trap, they were stuck in somewhat of a closed area with only one way out. As they turned around, the wolf was standing at the entrance. Princess Red and...

...Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (Ethiopia) – Population Dynamics Ethiopian Population Dynamics – Exercise 1 Abstract The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia commonly referred to as Ethiopia is a developing country with an estimated population of 84 million (Background Note: Ethiopia). Ethiopia has a population growth rate of roughly 2.6%, an infant mortality rate of 77/1,000 live births and a life expectancy of age 56 (Ethiopia DataFinder ). With this information in mind, Ethiopia is a developing country with some significant population concerns. Ethiopian Population Dynamics Ethiopia boasts a highly diverse population with over seventy seven different ethnic groups each with their own language, culture and beliefs (Background Note: Ethiopia). Though Addis Ababa, Ethiopia’s capitol is a fairly well developed and ever growing city much of the population lives in rural areas where quality of life services such as hospitals, doctors and medicine are often out of reach. Due to this it is not uncommon to see a gross difference in population data between rural and urban areas. Birth/Fertility Rates In the urban areas of Ethiopia the estimated birth rate for people between age twenty and twenty nine is two hundred eighty one while the birth rate for the same age group is four hundred ninety eight in rural communities (Ethiopia Demographic and Health Survey 2011). The birth rate in rural areas is more than fifty percent higher than urban areas where significantly...

Everything Stuck to Him Rewrite

...Tyler K. Schlagheck Professor Daniel Rosenberg English 1102 30 January 2013 Everything Stuck to Him He gets up from his chair and refills their drinks. That's it, he says. End of story. I admit it's not much of a story. I was interested, she says. He doesn't respond and takes his drink to the window. It's darker now but still snowing. She's been gone ten years and these are the stories I still remember about her, he says. I don't even remember the night of your birth, for God's sake. He takes a deep gulp from his drink and stares out the window. The darkness seems to grow with each minute. That's okay, it was so long ago, I – But she stops herself from saying more. She sits quietly and reflects upon her nails. He watches her in the window's reflection. He sighs heavily. She lifts her head. She looks out past him into the darkness. Then she asks if she is going to get to see the city, after all. He says, not tonight, how about tomorrow? She does not reply. I'm going to bed, she says. He continues to stare out the window and does not even seem to hear her. She gets up and goes to her room. He looks out into the cold darkness, remembering the times they used to have together as a family. He sighs and reaches for the bottle. It was going to be a long night after all. Part 2 I decided to change the ending of “Everything Stuck to Him.” Instead of having a sad ending where the man clearly left his wife and moved to Milan for an unknown reason, I decided...

The Sniper (Short Story) Brother's Pov Rewrite

...As the sun was setting on the warm June night, Dublin was quiet except for the inconsistent noise of rifles and machine guns in the distance. The city was waged in civil war, and I was prepared to do anything to fight for what I believed in. I was sitting on a rooftop right across the street from the O'Connell Bridge, all I had with me was my rifle, a pack of cigarettes, and an old sandwich that I was saving for a safe time. It had been quiet for quite some time now, but I knew the enemy was still on the same building he had been on, there was no way he could have moved positions without me noticing. As I lay there watching I had began to crave one of the smokes I had in my pocket, with nothing to do up here it was difficult to resist them. Almost immediately after the thought entered my head I noticed a match flare up in my peripheral vision outside the scope, without having time to precisely aim I fired a shot. I knew right away I didn't hit my target because I heard the snap of the bullet hitting the metal edge of the parapet where the enemy was taking cover. After I had taken a shot and missed I knew I had to stay down for a while, I could hear the enemy sniper moving around on the roof so I decided to stay low. All of a sudden I started to hear the roar of an armored vehicle. I knew it was friendly because it was coming from the West which was where our post was, I was relieved. I could hear talking down on the street near the vehicle, but couldn't quite make out what they...

Nature's Overwhelming Power Over Mersault (Rewrite)

...Nature’s Overwhelming Power over Mersault (Rewrite) For most people, the environment can have an effect on your mood and your actions. However, for Mersault, the main character from Albert Camus’ The Stranger, the effect that nature has on him is so tremendous that it influences him to act irrationally, inappropriately, and illegally. Camus uses literary techniques and devices, when describing Mersault’s killing of the Arab, to highlight the extraordinary effect that his physical stimuli have on him. It is important to understand the effect that Mersault’s setting has on him because it alludes to Mersault’s irrational and absurd character. One way that Camus uses literary techniques and devices to emphasize the astonishing effect that nature...

Algebra

...rates r for one year. If the interest rate is compounded semiannually then the polynomial p(1+r2) represents the value of investment after one year. Rewrite the problem without the equation.”(Algebra) For the first equation p will stand for 200 and r will stand for 10%. First I need to turn the interest rate into a decimal. 10%=0.1. Now I can rewrite the equation.2001+0.122. Now that I have my equation written out I can start to solve. I start by dividing 0.1 by 2 to get 0.05. Now I can rewrite 2001+0.052. First I add the 1 and 0.05 giving me 1.05 to square. Any number times itself is called squaring. So now we square (1.05)*(1.05)=(1.1025). Again we rewrite our equation 200*1.1025=220.5. Now we can remove the parentheses leaving us with an answer of 220.5. The answer for this first part of 2001+0.0122=220.5. Second Part On this second part let p stand for 5670 and r will stand for 3.5%. Again I start by turning my percentage into a decimal 3.5%=0.035. Now that we have our decimal we can write out our equation 56701+0.03522 . Now that I have my equation written out I can start by dividing both the top and bottom of the divisor. 0.0352=0.0175 . Now I have 2001+0.01752, now I work my inner variables. 1+0.0175=1.0175. Again we rewrite 56701.01752and now solve for power. 1.0175*1.0175=1.0353. Now we do our final rewrite and multiply 5670*1.0353=5870.1864. Now we remove the parenthesis and this will leave us with a...

Zoning Subdivision Regulations

...Subdivision Regulations are laws that control division of land and quality of development. The regulations govern lot division, road layout and standards, infrastructure requirements, and the availability of public facilities. • Do we have to rewrite the Zoning Ordinance and Subdivision Regulations? The current code is significantly outdated and overly complex, making the land-development process expensive, time-consuming, and unpredictable. Additionally, the current code is not reflective of the vision for future growth in the county. By updating the zoning ordinance, we hope to create an intuitive and modern set of development regulations for the 21st century that supports the county’s vision for quality growth and economic development and improve the quality of life for Prince George County residents. • How will the Zoning Ordinance rewrite impact me? The Zoning Ordinance update should have a positive impact on all individuals who live, work, or play in Prince George’s County. The rewrite of the zoning code will encourage more community input and streamline processes. As a result, this will lead to a more predictable experience for...
