Sebastian Junger gave a ted talk about how soldiers coming back from wars have are having a harder time adjusting to life back home. Junger effectively convinces his audience that the american society is causing war troubled through the use of statistics and surveys paired with emotional stories and experience.
Junger was a war reporter for over 15 years and returning from a multiple month stay in afghanistan when he realized he was affected by his stay. Junger is targeting the entirety of american society to prove the point that as a country we have a harder time than close knit societies.What junger is trying to convey is that after the violent events of wars and battles is that returning to our society he found people were more distant and had trouble reconnecting. He opens the door to the conversation he wants to have by opening up and sharing his emotions and the moment most considered a “weak” moment in life. Junger conveys an emotional message to change the traditional view that society needs to help the veterans into a view of society itself. Junger is the best to speak on this issue. He was a war reporter and a civilian. He lived through the horrors of war and went through the transition from a military life to a civilian life in our society.
