Despre Rim Si Blackberry
1. RIM
3. Elementele principale ale BlackBerry
Pe langa utilizarea normala a aparaturlui BlackBerry(apel, sms), acesta are capabilitatea de a accesa aplicatii in timpul unei convorbiri(Multi-Task).
Aceste mesaje se pot treansmite, aproape gratuit(costuri pot aparea in roaming) doar intre 2 aparate Blackberry.

Research in Motion nu are aşa ceva. Clienţii BlackBerry sunt pe o insulă pustie.

A marketing audit can be used to identify both the strengths and weaknesses of a business and how it is affecting their ability to meet their overall aims and objectives. An internal audit is broken down into 5 main categories, these include: Resources- The resources of a business can include their Technical resources, financial resource, their organisational structure as well as their managerial skills Research in Motion has created value for its customers through R&D for the last 10 years, and they have as a result used their R&D as a distinctive advantage. As an innovator in wireless email solutions in the late 90’s they were able to establish assets such as licenses and patents related to data security, wireless transmission of data, and what they are known best for; their push email service. By securing these licences and patents it has given Blackberry an edge in the market with the features it offers, and allowed them to establish a target market which was business people and professionals, before moving into the general market. The major stakeholders of the company are two of the founding members, who currently serve as Co-CEOs of the firm. RIM performs well financially on a consistent basis, with revenue figures reaching $4.2 billion in 2011, although this is down 15% from the previous quarter. Blackberry Rim

...1. Identify, in a SWOT analysis, the critical aspects you have discovered from the application of your chosen models to the industry and to Blackberry. Strengths 1. Highly secure phones; The primary RIM’s competitive advantage is its very secure mobile phones. The company released its phones with secure encrypted network that allowed sending emails between phones without possibility of stealing the information. This became the USP (unique selling proposition) of Blackberries and was a very attractive feature for corporates and governments that other phones didn’t have. As a result, BlackBerry became no.1 choice for enterprises and governments 2. Strong focus on narrow customer segment; Unlike other mobile phones and smartphones companies, BlackBerry tries to appeal for a narrow customer segment – governments and corporates. The result is a more focused approach to satisfying the needs of this narrow segment, something that other businesses rarely do. Weaknesses 1. Inability to market the brand; BlackBerry’s brand was known for the market long before Apple’s iPhone launch or Samsung’s Galaxy success. When the iPhone was launched, RIM had a better quality BlackBerry phone in the market, enjoyed larger sales and greater brand reputation but was unable to build on that due to poor marketing efforts. It spent and continues to spend significantly lower amounts ($41.3 million) on marketing, about 10 times lower than Apple ($400 million) and 8 times lower than Samsung ($334...

Research in Motion (Rim)/Blackberry

...Research In Motion (RIM)/BlackBerry The case describes competition in the market for smart phones in North America, and the position of one player, Research In Motion (RIM), a Canadian multinational telecommunications company based in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. Best known for its line of BlackBerry devices, the company designs, manufactures and markets wireless solutions for the mobile and telecommunications markets. The case allows students to understand the strategic dynamics in platform-based industries in general, and to explore more specifically how a firm that led the industry in 2007 could fall to earth so dramatically four years later. Research in Motion (RIM) began as an electronics and computer science consulting business started by Mike Lazaridis and Douglas Fregin in 1984. In 1999, RIM introduced its BlackBerry for corporate e-mail solutions. This Blackberry featured a push system for email delivery where e-mail messages were sent from the user’s personal computer to the Blackberry without dialing in. From 2000 upwards, its revenue skyrocketed and it continued to expand. Within 4 years of inception RIM became the first wireless data technology developer in North America. While RIM started out working with pagers its focus changed to two-way wireless communication around the same time that Jim Balsille joined the company in 1992. In 2003 RIM launched the Blackberry, giving users the first way to take the Internet with them everywhere on their cell phone...

Rim- Blackberry

...2008, Research in Motion (RIM) is standing at the strategic juncture where important decisions need to be taken regarding global expansions. The biggest strategic issue it faces is to carry over yesteryears’ growth to next level through sustainable innovation at global level. Although its R&D expenditure has grown 6 times in the last four years, the ratio of R&D expenditure to sales has been halved. This ratio shows RIM is not utilizing its explosive growth to proportionately improve its technological innovations (important for sustainable revenue growth), which are the main sways of the mobile communication industry in which it is doing its business. Mobile communications industry is highly competitive being oligopolistic in nature. Gauging RIM on the Porter’s five forces model, I understand there are many a threats to RIM. The biggest threat is the Threat of Rivalry. RIM’s direct competitors have much bigger market share globally and they are spending much larger amounts (as well as R&D ratios to sales) on the R&D activities in comparison to RIM. They are also trying to convert the industry into network industry by sharing of Mobile OS (e.g. Symbian) across companies. Some of them have already expanded globally for tapping talent in emerging countries, an idea which RIM is pondering over. RIM’s Blackberry products have a product differentiation (temporary competitive advantage) of being a smartphone originally built for busy professionals. But now, RIM is also trying to capture...

Rim Blackberry Report

...Executive Summary Research in Motion(RIM) was founded in 1984 and is a Canadian multinational telecommunications in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. Rim manufactures and markets wireless solutions for the worldwide mobile and telecommunications market. RIM began with an innovative idea and had much success from but was unable to sustain it due to competitors such as Google and Apple entering the marketplace. Revenues in 2011 increased 33% from to 2010 to 20 billion. RIM currently has a market cap of 7.1 billion. RIM possesses several attractive reasons for a company to acquire them. RIM holds a valuable intellectual property portfolio, talented team of employees and owns a strong technology infrastructure. This would benefit an acquirer because it would reduce time to enter a market, enter a new market as well as stop a direct competitor. Specific reasons for a potential acquirer to purchase RIM include their book value exceeds their market value, they have no long term debt and continue to have a sizable customer base. There are two distinct sets of acquires that would be interested in purchasing RIM. First of which would be financial buyers such as private equity and venture capital firms. Financial buyers such as Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield & Byers, Bridgescale Partners, 3i Group Plc, Foundation capital and Bay Partners are firms who would potentially be interested because they currently specialize in technology and telecommunications and have resources...

...You should always do a Pre-Trip Inspection of your commercial vehicle anytime you are away from it for an extended period of time, and before you leave on any trip. The Pre-Trip Inspection is essential for proper transportation, and for the safety of everyone on the road. * First, you should always start your Pre-Trip Inspection by the driver’s door, and check the front left tire, lights, and running board. After you visually check that you should start to make your way to the rear of the truck, and check your airlines to ensure they are hooked to your trailer properly, and that there are no holes in the airlines. You should also check to make sure that your electrical line is hooked to the trailer properly so you can check the lights of the trailer as you do your walk around. * Secondly, you should check the rear tires of the truck to make sure they are properly inflated, and intact. You can do this by taking a rubber mallet, and thump each tire. The mallet should have a significant bounce, but if it does not you should check the air pressure in the tire. If the air pressure is low, and you are at a truck stop, you can easily access an air compressor. Sometimes low air pressure in tires can occur while you are in the middle of nowhere, and if that is the case you should safely pull to the side of the road, and call your company immediately. * In addition to check the rear tires, you must look underneath the trailer to ensure proper coupling. When you do this you will...

How to Fix a Flat Tire

...How To Fix A Flat Tire A problem that i seem to have more frequently than others is driving around in my car and all of a sudden coming face-to-face with having a flat tire. Ive been in this situation so much i could probably teach a course on how to fix it. So i've decided to give my step by step list of steps i take in order to getting your vehicle back mobile. Before i start there will always be different variations of how to fix this particular problem because of different situations/environments, makes/models of cars and types of tires used on the vehicle. But with that being said, let me begin. Step 1- As soon as you find out you have caught a flat tire (the sound of your rim against the pavement/difference in drive should alert you to this matter) you should immediately try and find a flat surface/level of terrain to stop so you could have a leveled surface to keep your vehicle from rolling away from you.  Step 2- Put your car in "park" , and apply the "parking brake." (if you weren't able to find a flat surface try and find a large enough object in order to place in front or back of the tires to help prevent from rolling and to keep the car stable as you prepare to work.  Step 3- You will need to assemble your tools. (which should be a jack, spare tire/donut, and given what time it may be you might want to have a flashlight ready.) Step 4- Place your jack underneath your car onto the hard portion (straying way from the plastic portion that some cars may have) and...
