Riordan could benefit from an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. An ERP system is where all data processes of an organization are integrated into a single unified system. The system will use many components of computer hardware and software to achieve integration. Riordan currently has the network system and computers needed to support the new software. The company needs to add radio frequency technology and scanners to communicate with the new ERP software. The ERP software would be integrated into the existing network and brought online for the Michigan plant to test only for the first 6 months before the software is implemented among all sites. The main goal of an ERP implementation would be to improve the raw materials receiving process at first before allowing all areas of the company to adopt this technology. In the beginning the company will experience improved materials management, shop routing, reduced materials cost, paperless inventory monitoring, barcode technology, and RF data collection. The raw material will be scanned by the receiving area supervisor and instantly through the RF technology transmits the data to the receiving clerk. The receiving clerk accepts the data and inputs it into the inventory control system. The ERP system and its databases will be maintained from one network which will allow all of Riordan’s operations to operate the database globally from any one site but allow all sites to communicate in real time. The real-time communication allows the company to gain more efficient operations, shorter time-to-market, more accurate forecasts, and the organization will function as a better team. (Expandable Software, Inc., 2002) The ERP software is expandable as the company grows allowing the company to expand in areas such as: manufacturing execution, accounting and finance, enterprise reporting, engineering and BOM management,

Riordan Manufacturing

...Riordan Manufacturing Executive Summary ABCO Consulting thanks the Riordan organization for allowing us to do this upgrade analysis. A review of the existing infrastructure at Riordan has been completed and the findings are contained in this document. There will be a listing of what was found followed by a proposed upgrade system layout. The scope of this project is to cover the following systems and subsystems and to explain how they all interact one with another. Finance & Accounting Identify and describe existing system: Riordan’s Manufacturing’s Accounting Services division is responsible for overseeing all financial processes within the company. Everything from AR, AP, payroll, General Ledger, purchasing, inventory controls, metrics, and employee payroll processing has been managed by team of well-qualified members who have demonstrated utmost professionalism for many years. In addition to these many time-consuming tasks, strict quarterly audits are also conducted throughout the company on a regular basis, most of which have met or exceeded industry standards. Therefore, the issue here the company faces is not one of quality, but rather one of efficiency. To date, many of the systems and procedures in place, while affective, are not as streamline or as consistent as they could be. Still others (e.g. audits), although effective, are taking weeks to complete when most similar operations today can finalize internal audits in a matter of days...

Riordan Raw Material and Final Product Erp System

...Riordan Raw Material and Final Product ERP System Gerald Anderson, Henry Perkins, Kenneth Nelson CIS\207 May 18, 2015 Pat Sullivan Riordan Raw Material and Final Product ERP System It has been requested by Riordan to create an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to track raw materials and finished products across all their plants. Riordan has previously implemented a standard set of procedures to ensure each plant is managing the resources and products inventories appropriately. Currently their raw materials and finished products are manually entered by an inventory clerk into systems at each plant. The new ERP would integrate with the current inventory systems or replace the current inventory systems to provide a global view of resources and finished products. This would allow Riordan to have a global view of resources and product completion without manually requesting information from each individual plant. If a system replacement is selected, it should provide the ability to enter resources, sub assembly products, final products, customer orders and billing information. Whether integration or a replacement solution is selected, it would need to provide the ability to produce analytical reports to assist Riordan with raw material usage, final product completion and sales analysis. To accomplish these needs, the system will need to have the ability to tie raw materials to products and sales. This will require each system to have a key unique element to accomplish...

Percy Jackson Dialectical Journal

...2) The book starts off with a trouble maker in high school, Percy Jackson. This young man soon realizes that his life is about to flip upside down really quick as soon as he finds out that he is the son of a Greek god, Poseidon. His mom tells him that the city is no place for him anymore and he is now going to go to a training camp for young decedents of the gods. Percy learns how to use his powers and then he decides to set out on an adventure to rescue his mom who had recently been taken by a bad creature. He must stop a big war that is about to take place because of Zeus’ master bolt which was stolen by one of Percy’s friends, while at the same time rescuing his mother from the underworld. He then sets out on his adventure and discovers that the bolt was in his friends shield and he took off from the underworld and went to Olympus and gave Zeus his bolt back. Happily, ever after. 3) The significance of this title is the story it portrays for the book. The title alone implies that someone has stolen lightning which is what the author wants you to think because it seems un-human like to steal lightning so it gets you thinking. As the book says “Zeus sent out his sons and daughters to find the stolen lightning bolt” (P.357). This tells you that there was someone who had stolen the bolt from Zeus and this proves that the title of the book foreshadowed this by leading us to believe that there had been someone who has stolen the lightning. 4) The setting of this book was set...

Percy Jackson Archetypes

...In the stories Percy Jackson The Lightning Thief and “The legend of Perseus”, the Legend of Perseus is modernized in Percy Jackson The Lightning Thief by changing the events, Hero Archetypes, and themes. Have you ever wonder how Roman stories are like today and how they are made modern to meet your expectations? Events are one of the main thing modernized from ¨The legend of Perseus¨ to Percy Jackson the Lightning Thief. The events are modernized through the Hero’s Journey because in “The legend of Perseus” Perseus never meet the mentor and instead journeyed on his own “Perseus bid his mother good-by and set out to search for Medusa” (D'aulaires,117) unlike Percy Jackson who had several mentors Grover, Poseidon, and Chiron (Percy Jackson The Lightning Thief). Next, the events are modernized from the Hero’s journey once again. In “The legend of Perseus” since Perseus never really refused his call to adventure since he was somewhat forced into it as a child when Acrisius tried put him and his mom in a chest and threw them into the sea to blame on Poseidon. “He put Danae and her son, Perseus, in a chest and threw it into the sea”(D'aulaires, 115). Percy on the other hand, had refused to leave his mother and go to camp half blood but he Crossed the Threshold (Percy Jackson the Lightning Thief). Lastly, the events are modernized through plot structure. When Perseus in the “Legend of Perseus” went out to slay Medusa not only was he well aware he was going to kill Medusa but once...

Some people have ideas that Percy does not have ADHD, but other think he does. Some reasons Percy has ADHD is that he blurts things out, he can not find a activity that he likes, and he always lots of energy. Moreover, Zeus, who was also a Greek god, thinks that Percy stole his lightning bolt, despite the fact that Percy had just learned about them (Abramowitz). Mark Of Athena Essay

...I choose The Mark of Athena because I love this author and was already reading this series. Rick Riordan wrote the Percy Jackson series and those were my favorite books, so I wanted to continue reading books like those. My first impressions were that it started it off slow but progressed quickly. The book was very exciting. The cover of the book was very interesting and wanted to make me read it because it shows two of the main characters that are allies fighting. In the second book The Son of Neptune , Percy, Hazel, and Frank met in Camp Jupiter, the Roman equivalent of Camp Halfblood, and traveled to the land beyond the gods to complete a dangerous quest. The third book, The Mark of Athena, will unite them with Jason, Piper, and Leo. The Greek and Roman demigods will have to cooperate in order to defeat the giants released by the Earth Mother, Gaea. Then they will have to sail together to the ancient land to find the Doors of Death. Much of the prophecy remains a mystery. They will have to work as a team if they want to accomplish this quest. With old friends and new friends joining forces, a marvelous ship, fearsome foes, and an exotic setting,...

Erp Failure Paper

...fraud on SAP project The success or failure of implementing ERP software depends on a number of factors. I will look at the case Marin County sues Deloitte: Alleges fraud on SAP project. Marin County filed a complaint against Deloitte Consulting for its role in an over-budget SAP implementation. The lawsuit alleges Deloitte committed fraud and misrepresented its skills and experience. One of the reasons why this ERP system failed was Deloitte knew the County didn’t have any prior ERP or SAP implementation experience and knew it would be depending on Deloitte to guide and manage the project. The complaint also states that Deloitte mishandled staffing, project management, risk management, and testing. When implementing ERP software customers, software vendors, and system integrators typically share responsibility for project success of failure. However, customers purchasing complex systems, such as ERP software, do have a high responsibility that their own projects outcome is successful. In Marin’s contract suggested the County was concerned about its own ability to manage the project properly. Being concerned with your own company’s ability to manage a project in the early stage of implementation is not a good thing and Marin County should’ve controlled the conversation with their system integrators and lead from that premise. It’s up to the customer such as Marin County to lead and drive the result of their ERP implementation project and can’t rely on their system integrator...

The Development of Sap

...SAP What is that? What is that? Many people may be bewildered after watching one of the company's limited television commercials - the same question jokingly asked in the ING commercials a few years ago. And the acronym SAP, should not be confused for "soon as possible" or the white liquid that sips from the back of a tree, either. SAP stands for Systems, Applications, and Products in Data Processing. In this highly advanced technological era, it is almost unimaginable for companies not to implement systems such as SAP’s so as to boost their Information Systems. Since the global community has 'gotten much smaller', than say fifty years ago, it is imperative that companies design their Information Systems with integrated features so as to operate effectively between countries. The implementation of SAP technology is no longer an advantage but a competitive parity and its relevance toward the field of Management Information Systems is paramount. "Get in the game or fall off the wayside." The story and development of this giant of a company is remarkable. SAP grew from a very modest five member staff at the founding of the company in 1972 to approximately 53,000 employees 38 years later (sap.com ). That is like hiring an average of 1432 employees per year for the last 37 years; a significant contribution by many standards. The company's success and relevance to the world of Information Systems can be attributed to its founders, management, and employees realizing SAP's mission...
