Risk and Quality Management Assessment
Risk and quality management are vital to operating any kind of organization, but more so when dealing with an organization such as a hospital. Dealing with the lives and wellbeing of others is a huge responsibility. Some hospitals deal with more areas of services than others. Take John Muir Health for example, they provide a vast amount of services that range from primary care, emergency care, urgent care, rehabilitation, cancer treatment, children’s care, medical imaging, and more (John Muir Health, 2013). Of these areas of service require risk and quality management assessment. Other areas that do not always come to mind when thinking of risk and quality in a hospital include not only what goes on in the background such as, the IT departments but also what is right in front of the patients the moment they walk into the hospital. These services include the maintenance crew, the retail shops, parking garage, and the cafeteria area. In a hospital the purpose of risk management is to ensure both the safety of their patients and their staff as well as protecting the interest of the hospital (http://www.jacksonvilleu.com, 2013). On the other hand the purpose of quality management in a hospital is to ensure that certain standards are met when delivering care to patients and the same goes for the work environment that the staff is placed in.
There are various concepts of risk management in hospitals. One of the key concepts of risk management in a hospital is to deal with and reduce malpractice suits. Others key concepts are to identify and evaluate risk, which include the risk of the patients, staff and the hospitals assets (http://www.jacksonvilleu.com, 2013). The key concepts of quality for both the staff, and patients in a...

...thing to put the best shoe forward in order to gain an A+ mark. But the aggressiveness nature of the decisions made by Peter Haskins, president of the AMT, had, to the conclusion of some lenders, contributed to several tribulations that impede the continuous growth of the company. Though AMT had gained extraordinary growth through their well done researches, it tends to risk its financial aspect by exhausting too much fund just to develop and produce its product. Enterprise Riskmangemnt

...1.1 Introduction The underlying principle of enterprise risk management is that every entity exists to provide value for its stakeholders. All entities face uncertainty, and the challenge for management is to determine how much uncertainty to accept as it strives to grow stakeholder value. Uncertainty presents both risk and opportunity, with the potential to erode or enhance value. Enterprise risk management enables management to effectively deal with uncertainty and associated risk and opportunity, enhancing the capacity to build value. This paper seeks to explain the ERM process, its history, approach and practice. 1.2 Summary of Enterprise Risk Management principle The ERM approach differs from the traditional risk management approach as the focus is placed on an enterprise-wide strategy. Meilbroek (2002) argues that in order to achieve integrated risk management, a company must review and assess all the risks that could potentially affect its value. This core principle of ERM ensures that senior managers' focus is engaged on the uncertainties around the company's entire asset portfolio. A second fundamental concept of ERM relates to the people that carry out and manage the process. Although ERM is the ultimate responsibility of the board of directors with the support of senior management, (i.e. a top-down process) it must be noted that in order for the approach to be enterprise-wide, every employee from every level of the organisation must support the framework.......

Supply Chain Task 1

...Task 1 Assessment for Supply Chain Management B. I named my microcomputer company GigaJet. I don’t know if it is true for everyone that opens a business, but I find that naming a business is a very difficult task. The company name is reflective of what I wanted shareholders to feel when they saw and used the product; a microcomputer that has a lot of storage, “Giga”, and is fast and can go anywhere, “Jet”. Within the simulation each business was required to pick two segments to manufacture the microcomputers for. At GigaJet I chose to focus the manufacturing of our products to supply the workhorse and traveler customers. I chose these two segments because they had similar customer needs and wants, as well as a high potential demand. The next step within the simulation was to choose which markets to sell the microcomputers to. I developed a simple spreadsheet to analyze what markets would be the best fit for the company’s long term success. This spreadsheet was developed by multiplying the potential demand in each segment by the price that customers were willing to pay. From the following spreadsheet, I determined that the best markets for GigaJet to sell to were in the North American and European markets. |North America|Europe|Asia|South......

Marketing and Promotion

...Task 1 Definitions of quality in terms of business and services provision Quality in business, engineering and manufacturing has a pragmatic interpretation as the non-inferiority or superiority of something; it is also defined as fitness for purpose. Quality is a perceptual, conditional, and somewhat subjective attribute and may be understood differently by different people. Consumers may focus on the specification quality of a product/service, or how it compares to competitors in the marketplace. Producers might measure the conformance quality, or degree to which the product/service was produced correctly. Support personnel may measure quality in the degree that a product is reliable, maintainable, or sustainable. There are five aspects of quality in a business context: Producing – providing something. Checking – confirming that something has been done correctly. Quality Control – controlling a process to ensure that the outcomes are predictable. Quality Management – directing an organization so that it optimizes its performance through analysis and improvement. Quality Assurance – obtaining confidence that a product or service will be satisfactory. (Normally performed by a purchaser) Service quality is a comparison of expectations with performance. A business with high service quality will meet customer needs whilst remaining economically competitive. Improved service quality may increase economic competitiveness. This aim may be achieved by understanding and......
