In the spring of 2009, the people of Fresno disagreed on whether they should restore the San Joaquin River in hopes of bringing back the Chinook salmon or not. Fresno is the fifth largest city in California and the San Joaquin river passes through the northern part of Fresno. There are some pros that come along with restoring the river, like increasing the population of the Chinook salmon, but the cons outweigh the pros. The Fresno Bee is a news source for the 510,000 people that live in Fresno and during March of 2009, they published Bill McEwen’s article, “River Plan Too Fishy for my Tastebuds”. McEwen’s intention in writing the article was to inform the people of Fresno that people need to appear as more relevant than the salmon, and they
