The Black Ships Before Troy by Rosemary Sutcliff has various characters within the novel. Character traits are how to identify some of these characters personalities. Hector a Trojan warrior sticks out from the rest of the Trojan army because he is a great warrior and some of the gods love him. Hector is a great warrior and leader for the Trojans and he is brave and loyal to the Trojan army. One of Hectors traits is bravery and how he will fight for the Trojan army.
Hector overlooks a bad omen and tells his warriors to fight for their country. When an eagle sores overhead and drops a red snake in front of the Trojan front fighters Hector push his army onward. “One omen is best of all – to fight for your country!” (Pg. 63) Hector is brave
