...that two guys would travel round together, that’s uncalled of out here. But after analysing the situation, I realised that they needed each other and their friendship is what many of the people here would admire and perhaps be jealous of. Who am I to judge? George confined me about the troubles he had with Lennie and with the major problems they dealt with in Weed. It was hard to hear about such a terrible occurrence. I felt deep sympathy for George but I knew that Lennie meant no harm. I can tell a bad guy from a mile off. Still, I was to become quite weary of Lennie. His strength was his biggest weakness. He seemed to be unable to control it. But still, the poor guy wanted a pup, so I gave him one of my lasses mutts so that he could have a distraction. I knew he would kill it but the guy just wanted to pet its fur, what harm was that to a runt? We saw Lennie’s full power when he crushed Curley’s hand in the bunkhouse. I’ve never seen something like it! George told Lennie to get him and by god did he ruin that son of a bitch’s hand. He had it comin’ to him, purposely aggravating the poor fella. Lennie knew it was wrong to hurt the guy but stupid Curley carried on until it was inevitable. Even though Lennie was the one who hurt Curley I felt most sympathy for him, that why I told Curley to not tell no one about it as I wanted to protect George and Lennie. They have had too much trouble already. The rest of the guys on the ranch seek my authority. The ranch guys and I......

...really in love and care about the other. No one wants to tell their significant other something important and for the other not to listen or remember. It is like a waste of breathe telling someone something so important to you and them not to even care. That is why most couples who are falling in love tend to actually listen to each other’s personal life. They like finding out what they like and what they don’t like, because what if the guy buys a beautiful bouquet of red roses but didn’t know that the girl’s favorite flowers are sunflowers. To the girl that is turn off because she would have rather appreciated receiving her favorite flower other than the red roses. It is important to know what their favorite things are because that shows they are seriously interested in them and not just another person in their lives. In You Just Don’t Understand by Deborah Tannen is about the different ways that men and women communicate with each other and the certain things men don’t find important like “gossip” (97). Only in the beginning of a relationship do guys show...

...Dale Peterman Reading response 1 “Guys vs. Men” After reading this I would have to agree with him completely. I think that every scenario he used sounds like something I would do. And I am unfortunately 100% a guy. This was a very interesting article to read. One part that I thought was hilarious was the part when he was talking about running the 40 yard dash in the office and he challenged his co-worker. I can relate to this so much because I have a family full of athletes and we have been challenging each other for years in every category of sports. I want to say first off running a 5.77 is extremely slow at any age. But I can just imagine my family members (which are all guys) challenging me to a foot race and actually going outside and doing it. He said guys will take small challenges and that is extremely true. I and my family will argue about who is the best at video games because that just what guys do. But on the other hand I have a few uncles who would never waste their time to sit down and play a video game. Because that isn’t something that men usually do. He also mention that men are more serious than guys which is very true my uncle usually doesn’t talk but when he does he means business I would categorize my uncle as a man. But when he said that guys cheat I would have to disagree with him on that simply because I feel like I do all the things that he would consider a guys does but at the same time I have never cheated......

Dont Have Any

...For the guys: So, you like two girls. Maybe more, it sucks, torn between them, not knowing which one to go for, right? The bad idea is to go for both (or in some cases, “all”) of them. What I’m here to do is try to help you narrow down which girl you should go for. Not to be mean or picky, but it’s just sort of a guideline. How do I know which one to chase after? More often than not, each of these girls will be different, both in personality or lifestyle. Maybe from different cliques, different cultures, whatever, but I’ll try to go over what I can. Girl #1 - DGAF Chick This is sort of self explanatory… the DGAF girl doesn’t well… give a fxck. She likes to party, flirts a lot, and has fun being single. There’s a good chance that she drinks, hopefully no drugs, but she’s fun to be around. Usually hangs out with a lot of guys, so that could prove, um, “worrying.” The fact that she hangs out with all these dudes can mean that you’ll get jealous, A LOT, and that you’ll get sort of protective of her. The constant flirting also sends off a lot of mixed messages. Do not go for this girl.Chances are, you’ll be happy that it seems like she’s into you up until you find out she’s like that to almost every guy. You got played, son. Girl #2 - The Shy Girl The Shy Girl is usually really cutesy, and usually hangs out with a lot of other cutesy girls too. Probably a little awkward around guys, but in a good way. They’re usually really nice, and actually......

Compositions

...GUYS VS. MEN DAVE BARRY Dave Barry (b. 1947) is a syndicated columnist for the Miami Herald, where he won a Pulitzer Prize for commentary in 1988. He is the author of twenty-three humor books, including Dave Barry's Complete Guide to Guys (1995), the introduction of which is included here. Despite its title, "Guys vs. Men" is not a comparative study of these two basic types of males. Men and manhood have been written about far too much already, says Barry. But guys and guyhood are neglected topics, and even though he "can't define exactly what it means to be a guy," Barry's essay lays out "certain guy characteristics" that distinguish his quarry from other warm-blooded animals in the field. ______________________________________________________________________________ This is a book about guys. It's not a book about men. There are already way too many books about men, and most of them are way too serious. Men itself is a serious word, not to mention manhood and manly. Such words make being male sound like a very important activity, as opposed to what it primarily consists of, namely, possessing a set of minor and frequently unreliable organs. But men tend to attach great significance to Manhood. This results in certain characteristically masculine, by which I mean stupid, behavioral patterns that can produce unfortunate results such as violent crime, war, spitting, and ice hockey. These things have given males a bad name. And the "Men's Movement," which......

...cookies and found a place to drop. She was engrossed in her book but happened to see, that the man sitting beside her, as bold as could be. . .grabbed a cookie or two from the bag in between, which she tried to ignore to avoid a scene. So she munched the cookies and watched the clock, as the gutsy cookie thief diminished her stock. She was getting more irritated as the minutes ticked by, thinking, “If I wasn’t so nice, I would blacken his eye.” With each cookie she took, he took one too, when only one was left, she wondered what he would do. With a smile on his face, and a nervous laugh, he took the last cookie and broke it in half. He offered her half, as he ate the other, she snatched it from him and thought… oooh, brother. This guy has some nerve and he’s also rude, why he didn’t even show any gratitude! She had never known when she had been so galled, and sighed with relief when her flight was called. She gathered her belongings and headed to the gate, refusing to look back at the thieving ingrate. She boarded the plane, and sank in her seat, then she sought her book, which was almost complete. As she reached in her baggage, she gasped with surprise, there was her bag of cookies, in front of her eyes. If mine are here, she moaned in despair, the others were his, and he tried to share. Too late to apologize, she realized with grief, that she was the rude one, the ingrate, the...

...overall reaction and also talk about something that really shocked me. First of all, after the film ended I had an instant reaction and opinion on the film and it’s subjects. I really felt for the former players who were thrown into this world of big money, fast cars, and women. There were so many influences that affected the way they spent their cash. For example, these guys are thrown into this world as 18-21 year olds that many had never even cashed a check before. Before they even get that first check people are trying to take advantage of that, as agents and bad parents look out for their own interests. These agents take a big piece of the pie, and sometimes cycle money into personal investments without these young men knowing it. On the other hand, parents start taking money from these young men in order to pay off their mortgages and other debt that has piled up. Then the extended family and friends try to get a piece of the pie as well until, like Bernie Kosar, they end up paying for 5 mortgages or 25-50 people’s cellphones, etc. Besides the agents and parents that try to take money from these guys, there are women...

...Have you ever wondered why guys only choose to date the girls that are either brainless, or have a completely fake personality? Well, I think that the answer remains questioned. Most guys go after the “hot blondes,” not really caring about their personality, and only their looks. I think that this issue causes three main problems. For one, it makes some girls feel insecure, or not “pretty” enough. Two, it gives girls a label on what they should and should not look like. And lastly, it tells girls that we need to reach a high expectation to be good enough. As we know, the world is not perfect. However, we also live in a very judgmental world. Today, girls are constantly judged on their facial features, they eye and hair color, their body, and more. When guys choose the girls with not only no brain, but a horrible personality, it shows what kind of guy that person really is. Not only is it a shallow act on the guy’s part, but it also offends the girls. When girls see that guys are not going to be interested unless you meet certain expectations, they tend to change their features to meet others expectations. Things such as dying hair and acting dumb are two things that girls do just to get guy’s attention, knowing that they will not even notice them unless they act that way. Because of all these horrendous acts, girls are influenced to change themselves to the way others would rather them look like. Tweleve Angry Men

...Two Good Guys To Kill A Mockingbird and Twelve Angry Men have the similar characters, Atticus and Juror 8. They both are middle-aged men. They are good at talking. They did something unpopular. But as we know Juror 8 didn’t know this boy before. He could just let it go, But he didn’t. Then he won the case. Atticus is a lawyer. It’s his job to fight for people who need help. Although Atticus from To Kill A Mockingbird and Juror 8 from Twelve Angry Men are similar in that they both disagree with most people’s ideas and they are in a trial, the outcome of the trials were different. Atticus he loved his family. His neighbors liked him before he got Tom’s case, however, when he get that case his neighbor didn’t like him anymore. But as he said,”It’ll never come back”(Lee168). It’s show us how good that man is. It’s hard to see someone help a black man without prejudice in 1960 in the South. Juror 8 is kind of superman. We don’t know anything about him. We had enough sense of justice to help a kid he didn’t know. As he said,”No jury can declare a man guilty unless it’s sure”(Rose66). He is no shortcoming. He is perfect. Both Atticus and Juror 8 are good men. But I think Juror 8 is clever than Atticus, because they didn’t like he at first but they respected him at the end of story. He won respect on his own. Atticus had respect before, but he lost it. They both are good men. But Juror 8 is a perfect man. Atticus is a normal person. I can’t say who I like better, but...

Boygirl Relationship

...To start off with, relationships. Oh boy, what could we say about this topic. Relationships are what most teenagers worry about. Does this boy like me, does this girl like me. How can I impress him/her? Students go around during school worrying more about if they look "hot" or if the boy/girl they are crushing on is noticing them. This effects student's school work. Students focus more on what's going on in their personal life with their relationship and cannot focus on their school work. If the guy or girl that they are crushing on or in a relationship with is in any of the same classes, it could cause distractions and lower your grades. You push off your school work, and worry about them. It's hard to have a relationship with someone sometimes especially when you see them at school all the time and something happens. Say you get into a fight or something, then you are extremely upset all day and start to cry. All day, all you think about is if you guys are going to be okay, and what is going to happen. I've done it. I know it's extremely hard to focus but you just have to try. Relationships are a big part of an average teenagers life, and they are usually pretty hard to keep strong. Another thing i've done, is just pushed off my homework and hung out with whoever I was dating and then started to get low grades. My mom was extremely upset and told me that if me having a boyfriend was going to effect my grades then there was going to be a lot of consequences. If you just......

I was once riding dirtbikes with my friends and we got a gun pulled on us. We were really scared. So we turned the bikes around as fast as we could. I was riding with my best friends Mitchel and Mathew. At first we were at mitchel and Mathews house. So we decided to go for a little dirt bike ride. The Fall of Iraq

...let the events in Iraq bother me. I’ll tell you why. Every day I interact with guys who lost men they loved dearly, who struggle every single day with memories, horrific flashbacks, anxiety, guilt, brokenness, anger. Men who are afraid to sleep because of the terror that waits to ensnare them when they let their guard down. Men who carry a weight on their hearts that comes from being forced to kill parts of themselves in order to do what combat demanded they do. Men who stared death in the face day after day, deployment after deployment, who made decisions that can’t be undone. Men who died inside themselves to keep their brothers alive and must live with the fact that they couldn’t save everyone. Men who were good at what they did. And did the best they could. If you’re reading this, you most likely are one of these men. You know what I’m talking about.
The world doesn’t see the man you were in combat. They have no idea they are in the presence of some of the highest caliber and highest tested human beings on earth. They see PTSD, and stumble over a “mental illness”. They see the guy working checkout at Walmart with a little pin that says “proud to be a veteran” and scowl at him for taking too long to move their groceries past a scanner. They see an overweight guy with a beard at the bar who doesn’t look like he has it all together and dismiss him without a second thought. They see a thin wiry guy who works in the cubicle next door and keeps to himself and think he’s......
