This report is written for 16 year old students who are studying economics for the first time. The aim is to help students understand economics by applying it to businesses that are well known. I will also investigate the customer profile of Ryanair and the increase of demand for flights by Ryanair.

2. Introduction
Ryanair is an Irish based company and was founded by Christy Ryan, Liam Lonergan and Tony Ryan. At first the company just had one 15 seater plane which only went from London and Waterford.
They then had flights flying from Dublin to Luton airport, at this time Ryanair’s major competition were British airways and Aer Lingus.
In 1991 the company were at a major loss, Ryanair enlisted the help of Michael O’Leary to get the company gaining profits again. O’Leary thought the key to this was low charges. They decided that having low fare prices and low handling charges in hope consumers would use Ryanair. Due to this the company carried 2.25 million passengers. (http1)
