Slide 1:
Good Morning.
I am moiz ejaz, the chairman of our investment Club, with a unique name, Safety First.
Over here are my group members, *names*.
Today’s presentation is about our share investment club.

Slide 2:
After taking the initial belbin team roles test and extensive group discussion we came up with the following roles:
I was chosen as the chairman because of having comparatively better knowledge of shares and stock exchange.
As - was quite organized, she was better at maintaining agendas and minutes, hence being perfect for the role of secretary. - had a regular access to research material making him a good researcher.
After a number of weeks, as a group we decided to switch - as the treasurer and - as a researcher, as these roles best fit their traits and abilities.
Slide 3:
As you can the aims are quite comprehensively and concisely mentioned.
The uttermost aim was to maximise profit. Like every other share investment club, success is defined by the amount of profit made. Hence, we did end up making a considerable amount of profit.
As the name of our club suggests we aimed at investing wisely without including major risks. And for that reason initially we invested in 3 safe while only 1 risky company for giving a stable point for our investment club. However, half way through we decided to invest in 1 or 2 more risky companies so to maximise profit which proved to be quite effective indeed as josh will further explain later.
Slide 4:
Group rules as mentioned were simple and clear.
As a group we came up with these rules which were to be abided by each group for more organized and structured group environment.
We had a group meeting every one to two weeks except for the Christmas break, when we communicated all the updates regarding the buying and selling of shares via internet or telecommunication.
Now I’ll hand over

Safety First

...In the Safety First article the primary issue addressed was that of the low level of safety that workers maintained outside of the western world and how westerns viewed these practices as lacking to the point where they believed improvements needed to be made. But the larger issue that needs to be addressed is whether or not anyone has the right to demand changes in business practices in countries that do not adhere to their own, when they conduct business with abroad. As global business grows and more opportunities arise to conduct business in other more developing countries these issues will continue to be a topic of discussion, whether it be safety in the work place or civil or political rights. With that in mind should there be a global human rights standard and who decides who would make those standards or should each society decide from themselves what rights it gives it’s members? One of the biggest trends in western business today is that of outsourcing or moving labor-intensive operation to developing countries like India or China, where the labor rates are very low in comparison to that of the countries in which their business resides, in order to make more profit. I have had the fortunate experience to work for a global company and with my role having global responsibility, I have visited many countries that could be considered as developing where we have distribution and even China where we have a factory and I have seen first hand where these liberties have been...

...if an emergency were to occur. This will highlight areas that function well, as well as areas that we investigated and had concerns about. There is a level of reasonableness that goes into safety but accidents are not planned and in an emergency situation they are the risk of one is higher. An example of a emergency could be a fire, earthquake, power outage, flood, or threat. The purpose of addressing these concerns is to help prevent unnecessary accidents for staff and student. The building our team looked at was the Library and upper study hall by the library. Building Features The buildings were built to a certain level of safety and it is important to address the positives that already exist. * Sprinklers cover all area of floor space so fires would struggle to spread * Building maps located throughout the school that highlight exits and fire extinguishers * Easily spotted and accessible fire extinguishers * Stairs have added tread to avoid slipping for normal walking or emergency evacuation * Light fixtures have protective cover, so glass will never fall from ceiling Safety Oversights The following include safety concerns that arose concern when considering what could happen in an emergency situation when accidents happen. * When the building was first designed all the chair in the upper study by the library were bolted down away from the railing but over time more chairs have been added and those chairs are the same level as the railing...

High School Safety

...Jose Dominguez English 28 Section #6913 Professor Sahgalp 17 April 2012 High School Safety The prevailing attitude that the American parents have towards high achieving schools is their one of the safest places for their children to be at. They believe that the can protect them from any harm. Polytechnic High School (Poly High) is among the list of those high achieving schools. However, the Poly high campus can improve its safety with a few simple steps: fixing leaks, better security staff and equipment, and controlling car traffic in the outside perimeter of school grounds. The first way to improve Poly High’s safety is by fixing any water leaks. These leaks are cause by constant rain or broken pipes. A water leak can hurt an individual, by making the ground area slippery as students walk over it without noticing. Also the humidity from these leaks produces the growth of mold, mildew, and other fungus-like forms. The mold and fungus can be very hazardous when making contact with it or breathing in the hazardous toxins it exhales. Lasty water leaks increase allergic reactions and asthma attacks. The humidity from the water not only grows mold, but It also attracts mosquitos, and increase pollen counts. Several hazardous effect can be simply fixed by just fixing the leaks. Secondly, the campus could be even safer by increasing and improving security guards, and equipment. Stated by school districts nationwide, every school campus must have at least two police or...

...need to develop safety measures to limit the risk to the prison inmates as well as o the prison staff. Inmates should be proved with a secure location in which to engage in rehabilitative service and programs in order to ensure they can focus on making improvements in their life instead of worrying about their safety. Close security prisons typically are comprised of single cells and divided into cellblocks, which may be in one building or multiple buildings (NCDPS, 2012). This provides greater protection for the inmate and staff members. The cells and prison gates are controlled by guards that are in secure control station. In the closed prison the rehabilitative services should also be contained with only the inmates participating in the program as well as guards present at the program or services to ensure better safety measures. The programs and services should be closely monitored as well by guards in the secure control station. In order to ensure the safety of the inmate attending vocational programs and services inmates should only be allowed out of their cells to work or attend corrective programs to avoid inmate contact that could result in volatile situations. Another safety measure is to ensure the vocational or rehabilitative services involve small groups of inmates. Inmates provided with the services should not have a history of violence with other inmates and should not have had recent disciplinary action. Ensuring the safety of the prison guards...

Therac-25 Case Study

...that will impact people’s lives. The Therac-25 was involved in six massive overdoses that cost three people’s lives, while the machine gave the operator error messages or a message that states that no dose was given (Baase, 2008, p. 425). After the first accident, some users became skeptical of the safety of the device. Yet, the manufacturer turned a blind eye on the matter. They responded to the incident that they have fixed the problem. In the following months, five more accidents occurred. In each incident, the manufacturer, the computer programmer, and the clinic/hospital using the Therac-25 have some responsibilities and flaws that need to be addressed. The Problems Manufacturer What would be the first thing that a manufacturer needs to do when they have an incident with one of their products? It should be the recall of that product, in this case the Therac-25. The Therac-25 can help a person ailing with cancer with its beam but the beam itself would be too harmful to the patient. Any medical equipment that has the potential to harm a human being should be carefully used. The manufacturer was confident of how safe the machine was and installed them at different locations. When the manufacturer learned that the first victim had radiation burns, they “refused to believe that it could have been caused by the Therac-25” (Leveson, n.d., p. 11). They believed that the Therac-25 is the...

Chemical Inventory Management

...Chemical Inventory Management System David Acker Auburn University Risk management and Safety Abstract Managing chemical inventories at colleges and universities is one of today’s major challenges for higher education. This is especially true for large, diverse, research-oriented institutions like Auburn University. Knowing what chemicals are on site, their hazard potential, who is responsible for them, and where they are located is essential to maintaining a safe campus. Additionally, Federal and State regulations dealing with hazardous waste, chemical security, and emergency preparedness have become more stringent in recent years, requiring greater accountability from colleges and universities. These safety and regulatory compliance imperatives, along with issues of environmental sustainability and cost containment, drive the need for effective chemical inventory management in the university environment. In order to achieve effective chemical inventory management at Auburn University, Risk Management and Safety (RMS) has implemented a Chemical Inventory Management System (CIMS). The technological core of the CIMS is a chemical tracking database that provides realtime, discreet (to the individual container) monitoring of chemical inventories. The database has the capacity to accurately link the chemical container to hazard data, location, user, and acquisition date. Personnel, equipment, and budgetary resources were required to support the implementation phase, and ongoing...

...SAFETY AND PRIVACY Nowadays all people in the world think about their privacy not safety. If we are not thinking about safety we cannot live easily. That’s why most of all the people get into trouble. Therefore safety is more important than privacy. First of all for instance when people’s majilis members shout at there, they never think about their safety. They always think that their privacy is most important. So when the policemen come to arrest them, they are saying it’s our privacy, but what about their safety? When the member is arrested all will talk about that, then the member and the member’s family will be embarrassed to go out of their houses. So whether the person is a member or an ordinary they should think about safety. Secondly for instance when a person is walking in a road they are walking freely and another person come and disturb that person and pick some important thing of that person. That time did he/she think of privacy? Actually that time if that is me also think about safety. So in anywhere in the world safety is more important. Another thing is that when we are in the airport and the flight is flying than we should think about safety. We cannot sit as we want, we cannot speak as we want and we cannot walk as we want. If we are running in the airport we might fall. So in that time we have to think about safety not privacy. In sea transport we are going to another island we have to about safety. If someone fell to sea, than in that we will do if...

...number of customers. When we first walked in to the plant, our tour guide told us that there are eighty-two machining operations at the facility. As we walked through the plant, he pointed several of them out and what exactly each machine does. Some of the machines were responsible for machining large pumps, whereas others were specifically designed for smaller operations. The variety of the machines as well as the pumps and valves was amazing. Our tour guide showed us some that were small enough to hold in your hand and go on regular water or air lines, and he also showed us some of the bigger pumps which had an eighteen inch diameter. One thing I found rather interesting was the price difference from what it costs to build one of the valves or pumps and the price that the customer is willing to pay for the product along with proper documentation. Customers count of FlowServe for quality. Therefore, FlowServe must make every attempt to guarantee a product’s quality before they sell it to a customer. Our tour guide explained that one of the pumps only cost a few thousand dollars to produce, yet it can sell for over six figures when all of the proper documentation is in order. This is done so that customers can ensure the quality and guarantee that their product is the best they can buy. This is very important for many of FlowServe’s customers. The tour guide also explained to us the importance of safety in the facility. As to be expected, safety of employees is of the utmost...

...There are eight things that I learned when reviewing the patient safety goals of 2008. The first important lesson that I learned was about improving the accuracy of patient identification. It is always important to use at least two patient identifiers when providing care, treatment or services. No matter how silly it may seem, having the correct patient is tantamount. The next patient safety goal is regarding how to improve the effectiveness of communication among caregivers. I found it to be critical to understand the proper way in which to transfer information from one person to the next. Having a standardized system for information sharing is a key part of patient safety. The third principle that I learned was in regard to improved safety of using medications. It is crucial to label medication containers, as well making an annual list of drugs that look alike or sound alike. Making sure that drugs do not get confused or mixed up is definitely going to keep patients more safe. Another concern regarding patient safety is the concept of reducing the risk of health care-associated infections. This can be achieved by maintaining a high level of hand hygiene and by closely monitoring unexpected deaths or major loss of function associated with health acquired infections. The subject of accurately and completely reconciling medications across the continuum of care is pertinent to keeping patients safe. In order to accomplish this, a process needs to be in place...

System Safety Management

...fly-fix-fly approach unacceptable? What were the first types of programs to seek something better than the fly-fix-fly approach? The fly-fix-fly approach was a way of how engineers and manufacturers used to detect flaws and issues with an aircraft’s design and construction by actually flying the aircraft. Every flight led to a new discovery or a new fixture to a fitting which was something the engineers would work on before it was flown again. This method is commonly known as the trial and error method. After many years of development and with the advancement of technology, programs like space travel and/or nuclear weapons for instance had to be first-time safe which made the fly-fix-fly approach unacceptable. I believe that this approach was made unacceptable because there was a lot of cost involved in actually developing and launching such programs and the advancement of technology such as a wind tunnel for instance which could actually test the aerodynamic capability of a wing without the need for a trial and error type of approach. The first types of programs that were used to seek something better than the fly-fix-fly approach were known as the MIL-STD-882 which stood for the System Safety Program for Systems and Associated Subsystems and Equipment and the Minuteman Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) program which was one of the first major formal systems safety efforts. Q4) How did the MORT approach to system safety develop? Who developed it and who uses it? The...

The Plaza was owned by Sohel Rana, who used his aggressive tenacity and political connections to acquire illegal permits and bribe government officials to approve construction. On the day prior to the collapse, warning signs of numerous cracks throughout structure and caution expressed by local engineers were ignored by the garment factory owner and managers, leading to unsafe occupation of the building and the tragic deaths of over a thousand workers. Why Is Lab Safety Important

...Introduction Lab safety is the most crucial part when working in a laboratory. Following all the proper precautions and acknowledging the lab protocols will ensure that everyone in the laboratory does not get harmed in any way. The three modules reviewed in this lab included: personal safety protocols, proper hand washing techniques, and proper disposal practices. Reviewing and practicing all three of these modules helped me recall and understand the importance of lab safety. Methods and Materials The first portion of the lab was over proper hand washing techniques. Proper hand washing includes using water, soap, a nailbrush, and paper towels. First you remove all jewelry from your hands and wrist. Next, you turn on the water and then apply soap to your hands. You must rub your hands together and scrub for at least 20 seconds. During this process of scrubbing your hands, you will use the nailbrush to clean under your...
