...21, 2010 The two-dimensional painting that caught my attention was the “Virgin and Child with Saints Jerome and Nicholas of Tolentino” by Lorenzo Lotto. The painter uses oil on canvas as his media because oil enables the artist to change color, texture, or the form of the figures at any time. And you can see how important the use of oil was to effectively impact the responses from the audience to see many details of the painting and make a conclusion of what the painting is conveying to the individual viewer or to the masses. I couldn’t keep my eyes away and at first I couldn’t pinpoint why Lotto’s painting was striking a profound cord in me. What made it so easily noticeable was the vibrant coral color of the Virgin’s dress and the deep pastel blue that drapes on her lap. It was if, I had to pay attention to the center of the painting and there I would be able to see a story unfold (a sad dramatic foreshadow for the child). The foreground elicits cohesiveness among all the figures because each figure is important to each other. Lotto’s arrangement of the figures is positioned strategically and the painting is balanced. The foreground takes up half of the portrait leaving no space for the middle ground and a quarter spaces for the background. The halo which symbolizes sacred figures could be seen over the Virgin and Saints Jerome and Nicholas of Tolentino’s head. ...I was on Mt. Gilead website and I saw a contact link that said how your life have been changed by the dynamic word the Lord gives them to minister. I therefore felt the Holy Spirit leading me to share my testimony. I started visiting Mt. Gilead last year, when I came I knew God had lead me to such a Powerful Ministry. We were invited by a couple that we know that asked us to come and here a word from their Bishop. I was baptized in Jesus Name Feb 11, 1989 and filled with the Holy Spirit a few months later. I was then called to the Ministry the following year. In my youth I was a bible school teacher for children and I also served in the Youth Ministry in my home church for years. In the past seven years it felt like my life has been turned up side down. I woke up one morning in 2006, got in the car with my daughter and she hit a tree in our yard on my side. I ended up having left knee surgery, after a year later while trying to get back to normal I was having problems while walking. Long story short I had to see an Orthopedic Doctor which informed me I had to have an left ankle fushion due to the injuries I occurred. After which it took about three months in a hard cast. While learning to walk again in P.T. my brevious tendon was torn in the same left ankle. I had surgery Nov same year 2007.
